I remember being thoroughly disappointed with Shakkoumon when I first saw it in its first appearance and Cody or TK weren't even my favorite characters in the season (Ken FTW). I mean seriously, think about it. 1 ankylosaurus + 1 angel =... 1 ancient metal doll thing O_O?! WTF!!!

And for Cody's water situation, the others did what they did because they thought it would best for him to get him out of there, they weren't forcing him to face his fear, but just get out the water for his sake.

About the part of Yolei being brave and hurting Hawkmon moral, I think it's really about trying to be something your not and the negative effects it can have, or that there is difference between being bold and just acting like a foolish thrill seeker which is what Yolei was being like in that episode.

Yolei was spastic. Her character and purpose confusing. Didn't really like her. I like Mimi a lot more tbh.

Davis is a mixed bag. I see you praised his blunt and flat personality. But that's one of the things I didn't like about him. Some legitimate character flaws would have helped. At the same time I thought he was funny and goofy. Not main character hero material in my opinion. But maybe he is because 02 is a shallower pool than Adventure.

I think Cody was a strong character. As far as development goes he had the most. But the little bugger was still boring when put up against scenery chewing monstrosities, Yolei and Davis.

I'm not sure if this means they were better at making Cody more subtle or if he was an after thought. I'll give benefit of the doubt and say that SOMEONE kinda knew what they were doing with him. Either way his character suffered in the Derpfest that was 02. He would have thrived in Tamers.

Yolei was created as the as the opposite of Mimi... Mimi was the very rich, only child who got what she wanted and Yolei was the girl with many different siblings and could almost never have what she wanted in which that would make her want to be like Mimi instead.

According to digimon wikia, T.K.'s and Cody's digimon could fuse to MagnaAngemon but I guess the creators where so lazy, they choose THAT thing to be their digimon LOL

As a kid I used to really dislike Yolei, but as an adult she definitley softened up to me. It's kindof like the character Irma in TMNT, she's a dork, not the prettyest female character in the show, and makes plenty of mistakes. Her faults are what make her so charming. It's a shame that the writing in the second season left so many loopholes and lazy errors that the characters themselves suffered for it. I definitley understand your points.

I think it was a little more understandable for the new kids to feel bad about destroying the digimon. Since their start, they were just protecting the digimon from Ken and then the fake made digimon. Where the original kids thrust deep into the digiworld, had to sorta survive there.

Oh God, I remember Cody and TK's ultimate. I remember seeing it for the first time and screaming at the TV, "A TEAPOT?! It's a TEAPOT!"

Yea, Cody was EASILY THE BEST out of the three newest kids(not including Ken later on). He actually goes through character development that MAKES SENSE.

The ONLY problem with him is the fact that he's made out to be somewhat boring, and that's not his fault at all, it's the writers.

I believe that Cody would have been a more popular character if his age was pointed out more. He is the only one in the new group who is significantly younger and in the previous season things like that were brought up. Maybe the writers could have taken his character into a direction like maybe, all the other characters brush off what he has to say because of his age and he feels he has to prove he's just as smart and responsible as the big kids. it would have been relatable to the viewers.

I really liked Cody. He was adorable. i mean, i never had a favorite character( all but davis, yolei and mimi were my favorite, depending on the episode : D) but Cody was way up there.

@CaptainTooner I like Cody because I used to think just like him, as well that he gets many moments of introspection that help to flesh him out. I think Cody's views on life would make more sense to someone with Autism or Asperger's Syndrome, as he thinks very much along those lines.

I dunno if Cody is my favorite, though I know I could definitely relate to him both when I was young boy and now as a young man in my 20s. I'm the smallest of the group, the more serious person in the group, and certainly more harsh on myself than anyone else, and I'm still stubborn as a mule who doesn't forgive so easily. I've certainly eased up on myself since then.

Then again I also liked Izzy and Joe, the two that influenced Cody, from the previous series so go figure. XD
