Petroleum-based solvents are classified according to their flash point.
Materials with a low flash point will ignite more easily than materials with a higher flash point, that's why the recommendation of using a high flash point solvent. Generally, a substance with a flash point above 140°F is considered as having a high flash point, and is safer to use than something with a lower flash point. Gasoline & xylene have very low flash points, below freezing.
Hey, KawasakiTV & Kawasaki. Why not include a list of acceptable solvents. Nobody knows what a high flash point solvent is. Try finding a list anywhere.
Gasoline is NOT a high flash point solvent, and it is foolish to use it for such purposes for one obvious reason - FIRE. It is highly flammable because of it's low flash point & high vapor density. People do stupid things: using gasoline to clean a filter would be a stupid thing to do. Kind of on a par with oiling your motorcycle drive chain while the engine is running. Sooner or later, some idiot out there will do it in a closed garage that has a natural gas water heater. BOOM.

Gasoline has a low flash point.
The flash point is the lowest temperature in which a substance will vaporize to form an ignitable mixture in air.

My filter went brittle after a while using petrol (gasoline) so I switched to no-toil and it is some good shit!

i thought if you wash them in high flash point solvent like gasoline it will not make the filter last as long
