@cole3454657 The 2 important points from the USDA website are that soil quality is built and maintained through organic and that organic needs less water. This explains why the nutrient level is slightly higher on average for organic and why yields are usually much higher for organic during times of drought or in areas with little rainfall or poor access to water which is the case in most poor countries.
@cole3454657 USDA website"studies point to environmental advantages for organic farming practices with respect to a)maintaining or building soil quality,b)lessening ground and surface water contamination,c)reducing greenhouse gas emissions,d)encouraging biodiversity,e)conserving water and energy resources, and f)recycling waste.
@cole3454657 Its not about pesticides its about soil quality which increases nutrients and causes higher yields especially during droughts. The USDA and UN do not sell organic food so they have no reason to scam us. Penn and Teller used the Hudson Institute which competes against organic, so they are biased and are clearly scamming us with the false coffee quote.
@cole3454657 Also the AHA and several studies suggest coffee reduces the risk of certain cancers and several studies suggest certain pesticides increase the risk of certain diseases etc. I will find some studies for you on the subject.
@cole3454657 Several studies suggest several pesticides cause chronic toxicity which is caused by a lower weight. If for example large amounts of the pesticide cryolite are fed to rats at one time little or no harmful effects will be observed but if rats are fed small amounts of cryolite everyday in their feed they become ill and die.
@cole3454657 The coffee quote did not take into account that coffee has anti-carcinogens and anti-oxidants that counteract the carcinogens, such as chlorogenic acid, caffiec acid, stilberes, flavonoids, lignons, proanthocyanidins, lignins, tocopherols, benzoic acid etc.
@cole3454657 Here is the quote from LoisGold in the journal Science "One cup of coffee contains 10 miligrams of known (natural) rodent carcinogens, about equivalent in weight to the potentially carcinogenic synthetic pesticide residues one eats in a year." It is not 1000x, it is not a known human carcinogen and it does not say how potent it is.

Lower mortality in organically fed rabbits. 2nd and 3rd generation rabbits from organically fed parents exhibited higher birth rates and more viable embryos. Infectious illnesses were less frequent in 2nd generation organically fed animals.
@cole3454657 The USDA website says "on average organic foods contain slightly higher levels of trace minerals, vitamin c and antioxidant phytonutrients than conventionally grown crops." "Organic meat products have been shown to reduce risk for potential prion-related diseases including mad cow disease and to arsenic residues in chicken meat, and organic livestock practices do not contribute to the growing phenomenon of drug resistant pathogens."
@myndy86 i never knew that, i thank you for giving me reasonable evidence for your claim instead of just quoting greenpeaces lies, but i still stand true to my original statement, because, the governements not out to get you, you have 1000x more risk of cancer in a cup of coffee than a years worth of pesticide residues. in blind taste tests, organic foods taste no different than regular food, and it dosent help the small farmer, its ridiculously over priced,

@cole3454657 It does help the small farmer, especially the small farmer in poor countries according to several UN reports such as the UNEP/UNCTAD report Organic Agriculture and Food Security in Africa "Farmers benefit from (i)cash savings, as organic farming precludes the need to purchase synthetic pesticides and fertilizers,(ii) extra incomes gained by selling surplus produce(resulting from the change to organic),(iii)premium prices for certified organic produce, obtained in Africa for export
@myndy86 no, it dosent help them, because its a more expensive version of farming, its not as plentiful, or cost effective, and the near majority of organics are made by 1 company.
@cole3454657 If you read the UNEP/UNCTAD report at unctad.org/en/docs/ditcted200715_en.pdf You will see the report says organic produces higher yields in Africa than conventional farming and it is more cost effective. I am also not sure where you got the information that almost all organics are produced by one company. What company are you talking about because every organic farmer I know of is independant? I will watch the Penn and Teller Video and try to find the studies.
@myndy86 its not, trust me, it dosent make logical sense that its creates more crop yield, because, if your not using pesticides, bugs are getting at your crops and taking a portion of your crops, im just saying whatever anyone thinks organic foods are, is "healthier" and "better for you" when i dont see how pesticides remove nutrients, so obviously your studies were taken with biased samples. and the organic farmers are using outdated agriculture. and trying to line their pockets by scamming u
@cole3454657 UNEP/UNCTAD report continued "but also for domestic markets; and(iv)added value to organic products through processing activities. @cole3454657 2010 PubMed, Fruit and soil quality of organic and conventional strawberry agroecosystems. "In the past 10 years, ten review studies of the scientific literature comparing the nutrition of organic and conventional foods have been published. Eight of these review studies found some evidence of organic food being more nutritious,"
Thanks for this educational video about the organic standard. Whenever possible, we try to buy organic foods, especially the "Dirty Dozen." Even as organic food becomes more popular, many are still unaware of the problem with cotton. If we all switched from conventional cotton to organic, we would stop 456 mil. lbs. of pesticides from being sprayed. Pls watch our video Why Organic Cotton for more info.
The word "organic" is commonly misused to mean "without pesticides". Don't be an idiot...the word "organic" refers to any matter containing Carbon with some exceptions (i.e. carbon dioxide is not organic, but ethanol is).
A study published in the International Journal of Biological Sciences demonstrates the toxicity of 3 genetically modified corn varieties sold by Monsanto [December 11, 2009]. You can google that.
---
You all know that what I am saying is true: that the study above is only the beginning. The history of science is overflowing with "fatal mistakes". Don't let genetic engineering be one of them (at least not in your family). Say NO to Monsanto - NO to GMO's. Be smart.
Organic food hasn't got the flavour or quality than mainstream food offers. I went to an organic college and the food was stale mushy, the vegetables were pitted in dry craters. the salad was stale and dry, the crops looked tired and the food allays went off to quickly. When I was on this ridicules diet I suffered 5 or 6 colds one flue countless headaches and a kidney stone, prior to that I rarely got ill. The food standards agency has declared organic no healthier nutritionally or chemically.
@FDIGUY828 It has to do with the fact that we are paying welfare bums to sit around and breed kids who they feed sugar and fat and salt and spend their time watching TV instead of doing anything physical. What would you expect? Take away the handouts and the bums will work and only have kids they can feed, and they'll have the kids doing chores to help out once they learn the value of work.
@wrjamescom I think you are missing the point. Welfare people are not the only ones who are getting fat.
The sickening feeling is that in 40 to 100 years, America may have more fat people who look like Sumo Wrestlers than Japan's sumo wrestlers.
Have you ever watched the show 'The Biggest Loser'? How can people get that big? I can tell you, it is because our food supply is poison and being run by a few manufacturers and less and less farmers.
@FDIGUY828 It's not so much the food as the fact that so much is so easily available and so many people have to do so little work for it. Giving handouts to bums is like shelling nuts for a squirrel. The animal enjoys not having to work, but his teeth grow out of control until he dies. The same think happens to bellies of welfare bums and their kids too. The fact that what they choose to eat is junk is another problem, of course. Welfare and food stamps should be cut off..
@FDIGUY828 Welfare bums aren't the only ones getting fat, that's true. But they are the only ones getting fat eating junk that I am forced to pay for. If they had to pay for it themselves, they wouldn't eat so much of it, and would get more exercise, and it would be their own business.
@wrjamescom First of all, you are never going to change ignorant people in America. Why do people try to change others when they should worry about themselves? I can tell you that if you go to fast food restaurants each week, you are no better than these tub of lards in the welfare system. I avoid those franchise restaurants like the plague. If you want to worry about others, continue to listen to the negative media. I am focused on myself and those who will listen around me.
@FDIGUY828 If you cant see the difference between paying for your own food and leeching from others to pay for your food then you have a serious problem. I happen to like some fast food "junk food", but since I work and pay for it myself, it's none of your business. A welfare bum using my money has no business buying anyting I don't approve of.
@wrjamescom First of all, it has been proven that you can feed people for the same money on the same budget on a healthy way.
Watch a documentary about 'SUPER SIZE ME'. A high school with socially defective children were fed food that was HEALTHY for them to change their attitudes. The expense was the same for the same junk given to the typical teenager or child in most schools. The problem is BIG business and the poison that the kids are eating.
@FDIGUY828 Supersize me is a fraud hack job made by a kook who just hates McDonald's. Why pick on McDonald's? Why not make a film "Double Scoop Me" and eat three meals a day at Baskin Robbins and see what happens? McDonald's food is decent quality, but it is, by nature, high calorie, high fat, fast food. They have other things on the menu, but people buy what they want. There's nothing to stop you from opening an organic carrot burger joint and see if people want it.
@wrjamescom First of all, there is NO CARROT BURGERS. FACT. Mc Donalds is the STANDARD for fast food in this country. It was easy to run a story to show what would happen if you eat fast food 3 times a day for 30 days.
It did happen. Pick on Mc Donalds? That is laughable. This company puts out slop garbage with some ads and you believe it is good for you? Ignorance is bliss. Clearly, stupid people believe ads and what they post. Mc DS is not decent quality. You are silly for even posting that.
@wrjamescom According to some people, they are tired of paying for their benefits because these people are unhealthy.
So, unfortunately, if you are going to help people get out of their physical misery and make them part of the solution of health care, do you want to get them eating healthy or doing what they are doing now?
Funny? The same people who complain about poor people sponging off the system do not want to fix the system.
Respond to this video... healthy grains, more vegetables, less junk, guess what? Maybe, just maybe, a lot of those health care issues would not be as bad or frequent long term. Instead, the mentality is for people to pop pills and eat junk.
@FDIGUY828 That's true. But I think it has everything to do with us having it too easy, and having a couple of generations who have been spoiled brats and nothing at all do with with "organics". I don't doubt that foods without chemicals is better. But many of the claims from promoters of organic foods are simply false. The nutrient difference between organic and common is virtually non-existent.
to believe that organic is better and all the while getting their synthetics aproved as organic...Lord have mercy of the small and real organic farmer, it will be competing with the super giants and their chemical arsenal...now relabeled as...organic...buy local...support you local permaculture farmer and cast the organic farmers all in the same hip, because even those will be buying synthetic products to grow their organic garden, just that those synthetics are now relabeled organic....
@havaianuu you make no sense what so ever. organic means without the use of synthetic chemicals. "buying sythetic products to grow their own organic gardens" is an oxymoron.... totally contradicting
@canascot02 if you had bothered to read.." that as long as synthetics are ok'ed as "organic" by politicians and not scientists, all the big chem companies have to do is get their products labeled as "organic" and when one needs a product to deal with an insect, for example, will go buy an "organic" product, that may be synthetic in nature, but with the congress's blessing is now "organic".
@dimeagram well in case you havn't noticed, I'm Canadian, and here in Canada, the same does not apply as our governement doesn't approve of it. That's why USDA is one of the worst to go by.
@havaianuu actually this action helped the organic farmer b/c now there are more crop protection products they can use to fertilize and controll pests. You r a purist naturalist that i bet doesn't use toillet paper because it is "manufactured" my man... therefore not "pure" enough for your whole, natural, butthole. Do you live in a house? well if you do you better move out of that "Synthetic reproduction of nature" and sleep on the street. dumbass
@BradLauber Good morning...nice to wake up to being called a dumbass. I use synthetic ferts on my ag, It's a matter of truth vs BS... Organic is being sold by both sides on what is not... a natural product, since it is a political decision and not a scientific one. Following your logic that there are "more crop protection products they can use to fertilize and control pests"....heck, let's label the rest of them synthetics organic, and now we have ALL products available..... the joke is on you
@havaianuu the bottom line is your purist view of organics is not sustainable. If it were sustainable and truly a better way to farm the entire world of farmers would do it that way. but being an organic, conventional and GM farmer i can tell you from first hand experience that organics are rich in insect pathogens (cancer causers) b/c insects bite into the plant tissue and feed and shit into the tissues transfering airborne and insect carried diseises into the food supply
@havaianuu we all should choose for ourself what to eat. there is nothing wrong with organic- it is a choice b/t eating pesticides or insect pathogens or GMO's. Just b/c you choose organic and think it is better does not mean that everyone will choose the same for their families and loved ones. The fact that we live longer since the advent of modern crop sciences points to the fact that insect pathogens are as harmfull or more harmfull as pesticides or GMO's to humans
@BradLauber sorry to tell you...wrong again. I just believe that if you go organic, go permaculture. I strongly advocate advocate scientific analizes of BOTH synthetic and organic products, for I believe that BOTH have a role to play, let's just get the hype out of the way and really see which cause the least damage. Organic is being sold as "safe" which couldn't be further from the truth. I refrain from using what I call "suicides" all products that end on "icide", organic or not
@havaianuu you abandoned "icides" yet your are so full of "ists" and "isms". you are pretty much a walking contradiction. I,m curious what experience do you have in agriculture... ever worked on a farm or grown crops... a grade school field trip to a farm does not count either. I only ask b/c you talk like you are clueless to what has taken place in ag ove the last 20 yrs
@BradLauber you are right, I have eaten mainstream food my entire life and it has not done me any harm, they just decided that organic food does not offer and health benefits. I was actually less healthy when I was forced to go green. Organic food has less flavour and is poorer quality, yet many times the price at times, I saw rice witch was nearly 6 times the price of normal rice.
@meatisdeliciouse Insect pathogens are a the #1 concern with organics- as you mentioned the produce is full of holes and full of bug bites and bug shit. I have always said... it is a choice b/t eating insect pathogens or pesticides or GMO's- we all chose for oursrelfs but i agree with you.. i choose human innovation and technology over bug shit filled produce and 50 yr old practices-
This allowed Anheuser-Busch in 2007 to have its Wild Hop Lager certified organic "even though [it] uses hops grown with chemical fertilizers and sprayed with pesticides... Permaculture yes ...oragnic.....what???? Food grown with synthetic products disguised as oraganic. Does anyone know that...Tolazoline, Xylazine, Methioni, Buthorphanol, Flunxin....synthetics materials are allowed to be used in organic food production. This lady is doing the bidding for Monsanto, as long as they get people
...and in just one single action, allowed 38 synthetic products to be used and their products still be considered organic. From wikipedia... "In December 2005, the 2006 agricultural appropriations bill was passed with a rider allowing 38 synthetic ingredients to be used in organic foods. Among the ingredients are food colorings, starches, sausage and hot-dog casings, hops, fish oil, chipotle chili pepper, and gelatin.
Folks like this lady are well meaning, but still are just a mouthpiece for the chemical companies. While claiming that organic food has "no pesticide residue", studies have shown that 30% of organic produce have traces of at least one pesticide and 40% have at least traces of 2 pesticides. Organic should only be considered in permaculture context. By USDA standards, which are mandated by congress in riders to other bills ....
@havaianuu The dirty little secret is that most "organic" foods are scams. Not all, but most. Stores have been caught taking old produce that's developing spots and relabeling it "organic" and charging more for it. Many "organic" growers use pesticides when no one is looking because in some areas you simply cannot grow some crops without them. A number of tests have shown little or no difference in chemicals between the normal and organic foods found on the shelves.
@wrjamescom Do you want to know a dirty little secret? MILK is not necessary to drink. This is a fact.
If you are going to make a statement about pesticide controlled products vs. organics, have some fact behind it.
Think about MILK. It is a product that the INDUSTRY tells you that is needed. It has VITAMIN D added after the life is killed in the product. We, humans, are the only species that drinks other animals milk after the early months of a child's growth. This is a dirty little secret.
@FDIGUY828 Actually, only a few cultures drink milk, primarily Americans and the British. Some others are pretty big on cheese. And so what if it's not necessary? Carrots are necessary either. Nor is soy or corn? Or beer? I don't want any crackpots deciding what is allowed. There's nothing wrong with milk or beer, or Big Macs. All are fine in moderation. All make for a terrible diet in large amounts.
@wrjamescom Milk is not necessary. As for your other comments, they are not too bright.
Big Macs? Fine in moderation. Sorry, I do not eat fast food. There is no reason in 2011 that you should eat this slop when you have plenty of healthy choices.
You bash organics and foods that have LIFE but, you say eating milk and Mc Donald's is okay?
I think our conversation is ended.
Crackpots? Keep watching those commercials where you have thin, sexy people eating crap. Wake up. Stop eating it for you.
@FDIGUY828 I wasn't bashing organics, I was simply pointing out there are a lot of frauds, most of the stuff labeled organic is no different from the cheaper stuff on the shelf. And to be honest, most of the claims made promoting organic food is just meaningless hype.
@wrjamescom So, why don't you bash the fast food industry for their food? This is where you miss my point.
FAST FOOD is something that people should stop eating. Maybe, their health will improve? Spend less time at the doctor? Lower health costs? See the progressive of positive events.
does organic really helps you? is it woth it to pay 3 times more? I live in Canada and have to watch what I eat all the time. I went for the summer to Spain, I have never eaten so much in my life and I actually lost weight... I'm wondering if organic foods have something to do with that
It was a while ago when you posted this, so sorry if it's not an issue anymore, but I urge you to do a lot of research before going organic and only then decide if it is for you or not. I also urge you to do research on both sides of the subject.
After months of research I decided that I would never buy organic. The health benifits are very small (if at all), and it can even be dangerous. Lots of organic food often tests alarmingly high for E. Coli.
Thanks for the definition of 100% organic, organic and organic ingredients. I have wondered about this, and knowing that organic means 95% organic and organic ingredients is 70% organic was helpful. I just read an article by the Mayo Clinic that reported findings stating that organically grown foods were not any healthier than conventionally grown foods. This was also supported by the UK's Food Standards Agency. Maybe eating organically is an environmental issue?
Did you know that the corn belt states have a lower cancer rate than the new England states? Despite the higher prevalence of organic food suppliers in new england, compared to the extreme saturation of pesticides and fertilizers in everything in the corn belt.
But dont let facts get in your way of getting more kool aid.
That may be a fact, but what exactly does that have to do with the food?! You've just cherry picked a statistic and tried to pass it off as proof. Children who are raised on farms, are statistically dumber than other children. Particularly ones that were born in crop season. You can't just see a rise in organic food and compare the cancer levels. That is retarded. You'd have to give it a period of time and then compare. Decades for the chances to take effect. It isn't instant.
If you actually looked at the full picture, considered all of the facts and then formed an opinion, you'd find that all of the research and studies show that organic crops are more sustainable than chemical covered ones, that the farmers stand to make more profit from the crops and thats without any chemicals at all. 20% more farmers are changing to organic every year. But, ignorant people like you will complain about price, when it's you who is holding it all back by ignoring it all.
That is not true. The "taste" factor is objectionable because it is not a face-based aspect of food; It varies from person to person meaning that not everyone is going to have the same opinion. There are a range of studies that conflict yours.
The labor involved with organic food is simply illogical in these economic times. It requires much more land than conventional farms, excess labor, and produces much less than a conventional farm. Definitely not the solution to world hunger.
Your Wrong . So go spray your plate of food with bug spray and then eat it. Then tell me if there was a difference. Then when your done being sick you can do better research.
No difference? No evidence? That's weird, because in all of the studies I've read, when people were blind folded and asked to state which food item was better, organic food won every time. And, just to state a single fact about "nutrition", I watched a scientific test on chicken quality. The intensively raised birds, the opinion of the scientist was "poor meat". It had 100 more calories, 25% more fat and less than 0.01% of Omega 3. Organic chickens were full of Omega 3. FACT!
nice

The food standards agency has declared organic no healthier nutritionally or chemically.
meatisdeliciouse 1 year ago
@meatisdeliciouse So, you are trying to say that eating food that is processed or with chemicals is good for you?
I think your college degree is not worth the paper that it is written on.
Look at this country over the last 30 to 40 years, we are getting bigger, fatter and getting sicker faster.
Why? The food intake in the America diet is a major reason.
Explain to me how this has NOTHING to do with the chemicals and processing of our foods?
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 It has to do with the fact that we are paying welfare bums to sit around and breed kids who they feed sugar and fat and salt and spend their time watching TV instead of doing anything physical. What would you expect? Take away the handouts and the bums will work and only have kids they can feed, and they'll have the kids doing chores to help out once they learn the value of work.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom I think you are missing the point. Welfare people are not the only ones who are getting fat.
The sickening feeling is that in 40 to 100 years, America may have more fat people who look like Sumo Wrestlers than Japan's sumo wrestlers.
Have you ever watched the show 'The Biggest Loser'? How can people get that big? I can tell you, it is because our food supply is poison and being run by a few manufacturers and less and less farmers.
If in America, people just at less meat, more
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 It's not so much the food as the fact that so much is so easily available and so many people have to do so little work for it. Giving handouts to bums is like shelling nuts for a squirrel. The animal enjoys not having to work, but his teeth grow out of control until he dies. The same think happens to bellies of welfare bums and their kids too. The fact that what they choose to eat is junk is another problem, of course. Welfare and food stamps should be cut off..
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 Welfare bums aren't the only ones getting fat, that's true. But they are the only ones getting fat eating junk that I am forced to pay for. If they had to pay for it themselves, they wouldn't eat so much of it, and would get more exercise, and it would be their own business.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom First of all, you are never going to change ignorant people in America. Why do people try to change others when they should worry about themselves? I can tell you that if you go to fast food restaurants each week, you are no better than these tub of lards in the welfare system. I avoid those franchise restaurants like the plague. If you want to worry about others, continue to listen to the negative media. I am focused on myself and those who will listen around me.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 If you cant see the difference between paying for your own food and leeching from others to pay for your food then you have a serious problem. I happen to like some fast food "junk food", but since I work and pay for it myself, it's none of your business. A welfare bum using my money has no business buying anyting I don't approve of.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom First of all, it has been proven that you can feed people for the same money on the same budget on a healthy way.
Watch a documentary about 'SUPER SIZE ME'. A high school with socially defective children were fed food that was HEALTHY for them to change their attitudes. The expense was the same for the same junk given to the typical teenager or child in most schools. The problem is BIG business and the poison that the kids are eating.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 Supersize me is a fraud hack job made by a kook who just hates McDonald's. Why pick on McDonald's? Why not make a film "Double Scoop Me" and eat three meals a day at Baskin Robbins and see what happens? McDonald's food is decent quality, but it is, by nature, high calorie, high fat, fast food. They have other things on the menu, but people buy what they want. There's nothing to stop you from opening an organic carrot burger joint and see if people want it.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom First of all, there is NO CARROT BURGERS. FACT. Mc Donalds is the STANDARD for fast food in this country. It was easy to run a story to show what would happen if you eat fast food 3 times a day for 30 days.
It did happen. Pick on Mc Donalds? That is laughable. This company puts out slop garbage with some ads and you believe it is good for you? Ignorance is bliss. Clearly, stupid people believe ads and what they post. Mc DS is not decent quality. You are silly for even posting that.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
By the way, what's wrong with people deciding for themselves what to buy and eat with their own money?
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom According to some people, they are tired of paying for their benefits because these people are unhealthy.
So, unfortunately, if you are going to help people get out of their physical misery and make them part of the solution of health care, do you want to get them eating healthy or doing what they are doing now?
Funny? The same people who complain about poor people sponging off the system do not want to fix the system.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
Respond to this video... healthy grains, more vegetables, less junk, guess what? Maybe, just maybe, a lot of those health care issues would not be as bad or frequent long term. Instead, the mentality is for people to pop pills and eat junk.
It is really sad in this country.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 That's true. But I think it has everything to do with us having it too easy, and having a couple of generations who have been spoiled brats and nothing at all do with with "organics". I don't doubt that foods without chemicals is better. But many of the claims from promoters of organic foods are simply false. The nutrient difference between organic and common is virtually non-existent.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
to believe that organic is better and all the while getting their synthetics aproved as organic...Lord have mercy of the small and real organic farmer, it will be competing with the super giants and their chemical arsenal...now relabeled as...organic...buy local...support you local permaculture farmer and cast the organic farmers all in the same hip, because even those will be buying synthetic products to grow their organic garden, just that those synthetics are now relabeled organic....
havaianuu 1 year ago
@havaianuu you make no sense what so ever. organic means without the use of synthetic chemicals. "buying sythetic products to grow their own organic gardens" is an oxymoron.... totally contradicting
canascot02 1 year ago
@canascot02 if you had bothered to read.." that as long as synthetics are ok'ed as "organic" by politicians and not scientists, all the big chem companies have to do is get their products labeled as "organic" and when one needs a product to deal with an insect, for example, will go buy an "organic" product, that may be synthetic in nature, but with the congress's blessing is now "organic".
dimeagram 1 year ago
@dimeagram well in case you havn't noticed, I'm Canadian, and here in Canada, the same does not apply as our governement doesn't approve of it. That's why USDA is one of the worst to go by.
canascot02 1 year ago
@havaianuu actually this action helped the organic farmer b/c now there are more crop protection products they can use to fertilize and controll pests. You r a purist naturalist that i bet doesn't use toillet paper because it is "manufactured" my man... therefore not "pure" enough for your whole, natural, butthole. Do you live in a house? well if you do you better move out of that "Synthetic reproduction of nature" and sleep on the street. dumbass
BradLauber 1 year ago
@BradLauber Good morning...nice to wake up to being called a dumbass. I use synthetic ferts on my ag, It's a matter of truth vs BS... Organic is being sold by both sides on what is not... a natural product, since it is a political decision and not a scientific one. Following your logic that there are "more crop protection products they can use to fertilize and control pests"....heck, let's label the rest of them synthetics organic, and now we have ALL products available..... the joke is on you
havaianuu 1 year ago
@havaianuu the bottom line is your purist view of organics is not sustainable. If it were sustainable and truly a better way to farm the entire world of farmers would do it that way. but being an organic, conventional and GM farmer i can tell you from first hand experience that organics are rich in insect pathogens (cancer causers) b/c insects bite into the plant tissue and feed and shit into the tissues transfering airborne and insect carried diseises into the food supply
BradLauber 1 year ago
@havaianuu we all should choose for ourself what to eat. there is nothing wrong with organic- it is a choice b/t eating pesticides or insect pathogens or GMO's. Just b/c you choose organic and think it is better does not mean that everyone will choose the same for their families and loved ones. The fact that we live longer since the advent of modern crop sciences points to the fact that insect pathogens are as harmfull or more harmfull as pesticides or GMO's to humans
BradLauber 1 year ago
@BradLauber sorry to tell you...wrong again. I just believe that if you go organic, go permaculture. I strongly advocate advocate scientific analizes of BOTH synthetic and organic products, for I believe that BOTH have a role to play, let's just get the hype out of the way and really see which cause the least damage. Organic is being sold as "safe" which couldn't be further from the truth. I refrain from using what I call "suicides" all products that end on "icide", organic or not
havaianuu 1 year ago
@havaianuu you abandoned "icides" yet your are so full of "ists" and "isms". you are pretty much a walking contradiction. I,m curious what experience do you have in agriculture... ever worked on a farm or grown crops... a grade school field trip to a farm does not count either. I only ask b/c you talk like you are clueless to what has taken place in ag ove the last 20 yrs
BradLauber 1 year ago
@BradLauber you are right, I have eaten mainstream food my entire life and it has not done me any harm, they just decided that organic food does not offer and health benefits. I was actually less healthy when I was forced to go green. Organic food has less flavour and is poorer quality, yet many times the price at times, I saw rice witch was nearly 6 times the price of normal rice.
meatisdeliciouse 1 year ago
@meatisdeliciouse Insect pathogens are a the #1 concern with organics- as you mentioned the produce is full of holes and full of bug bites and bug shit. I have always said... it is a choice b/t eating insect pathogens or pesticides or GMO's- we all chose for oursrelfs but i agree with you.. i choose human innovation and technology over bug shit filled produce and 50 yr old practices-
BradLauber 1 year ago
This allowed Anheuser-Busch in 2007 to have its Wild Hop Lager certified organic "even though [it] uses hops grown with chemical fertilizers and sprayed with pesticides... Permaculture yes ...oragnic.....what???? Food grown with synthetic products disguised as oraganic. Does anyone know that...Tolazoline, Xylazine, Methioni, Buthorphanol, Flunxin....synthetics materials are allowed to be used in organic food production. This lady is doing the bidding for Monsanto, as long as they get people
havaianuu 1 year ago
...and in just one single action, allowed 38 synthetic products to be used and their products still be considered organic. From wikipedia... "In December 2005, the 2006 agricultural appropriations bill was passed with a rider allowing 38 synthetic ingredients to be used in organic foods. Among the ingredients are food colorings, starches, sausage and hot-dog casings, hops, fish oil, chipotle chili pepper, and gelatin.
havaianuu 1 year ago
Folks like this lady are well meaning, but still are just a mouthpiece for the chemical companies. While claiming that organic food has "no pesticide residue", studies have shown that 30% of organic produce have traces of at least one pesticide and 40% have at least traces of 2 pesticides. Organic should only be considered in permaculture context. By USDA standards, which are mandated by congress in riders to other bills ....
havaianuu 1 year ago
@havaianuu The dirty little secret is that most "organic" foods are scams. Not all, but most. Stores have been caught taking old produce that's developing spots and relabeling it "organic" and charging more for it. Many "organic" growers use pesticides when no one is looking because in some areas you simply cannot grow some crops without them. A number of tests have shown little or no difference in chemicals between the normal and organic foods found on the shelves.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom Do you want to know a dirty little secret? MILK is not necessary to drink. This is a fact.
If you are going to make a statement about pesticide controlled products vs. organics, have some fact behind it.
Think about MILK. It is a product that the INDUSTRY tells you that is needed. It has VITAMIN D added after the life is killed in the product. We, humans, are the only species that drinks other animals milk after the early months of a child's growth. This is a dirty little secret.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 Actually, only a few cultures drink milk, primarily Americans and the British. Some others are pretty big on cheese. And so what if it's not necessary? Carrots are necessary either. Nor is soy or corn? Or beer? I don't want any crackpots deciding what is allowed. There's nothing wrong with milk or beer, or Big Macs. All are fine in moderation. All make for a terrible diet in large amounts.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom Milk is not necessary. As for your other comments, they are not too bright.
Big Macs? Fine in moderation. Sorry, I do not eat fast food. There is no reason in 2011 that you should eat this slop when you have plenty of healthy choices.
You bash organics and foods that have LIFE but, you say eating milk and Mc Donald's is okay?
I think our conversation is ended.
Crackpots? Keep watching those commercials where you have thin, sexy people eating crap. Wake up. Stop eating it for you.
FDIGUY828 11 months ago
@FDIGUY828 I wasn't bashing organics, I was simply pointing out there are a lot of frauds, most of the stuff labeled organic is no different from the cheaper stuff on the shelf. And to be honest, most of the claims made promoting organic food is just meaningless hype.
wrjamescom 11 months ago
@wrjamescom So, why don't you bash the fast food industry for their food? This is where you miss my point.
FAST FOOD is something that people should stop eating. Maybe, their health will improve? Spend less time at the doctor? Lower health costs? See the progressive of positive events.
Yet, you talk negatively about ORGANICS?
Are you kidding me?

does organic really helps you? is it woth it to pay 3 times more? I live in Canada and have to watch what I eat all the time. I went for the summer to Spain, I have never eaten so much in my life and I actually lost weight... I'm wondering if organic foods have something to do with that
froget86 2 years ago

Anonymous4815162342 2 years ago
That may be a fact, but what exactly does that have to do with the food?! You've just cherry picked a statistic and tried to pass it off as proof. Children who are raised on farms, are statistically dumber than other children. Particularly ones that were born in crop season. You can't just see a rise in organic food and compare the cancer levels. That is retarded. You'd have to give it a period of time and then compare. Decades for the chances to take effect. It isn't instant.
BassicFunktion 2 years ago
If you actually looked at the full picture, considered all of the facts and then formed an opinion, you'd find that all of the research and studies show that organic crops are more sustainable than chemical covered ones, that the farmers stand to make more profit from the crops and thats without any chemicals at all. 20% more farmers are changing to organic every year. But, ignorant people like you will complain about price, when it's you who is holding it all back by ignoring it all.
BassicFunktion 2 years ago
That is not true. The "taste" factor is objectionable because it is not a face-based aspect of food; It varies from person to person meaning that not everyone is going to have the same opinion. There are a range of studies that conflict yours.
The labor involved with organic food is simply illogical in these economic times. It requires much more land than conventional farms, excess labor, and produces much less than a conventional farm. Definitely not the solution to world hunger.

There is absolutely no difference between organic and non-organic foods, nor is their proof that one is more nutritional than the other.

FACT!
