  • PLATINUM COATED ALUMINUM DISKS CAPT'N. NOT GOOD FOR HHO THOUGH. THE PLATINUM ELECTROPLATES ITSELF OFF.

COOL VIDEO. AMMETER, OR AMP METER. I NEVER THOUGHT OF THE HARD DRIVE MAGNETS FITTING IN THE SHELL OF THE MOTOR LIKE THAT. NICE DESIGN. IT SHOULD GENERAT NICELY. LET THEM KNOW ONE END IS NORTH AND THE OTHER SOUTH ON EACH FLAT MAGNET. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT A SMALL GENERATOR,... JUST PUT A SKATE BOARD WHEEL ON A WEED EATER ENGINE AND RUN IT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHELL. THE WHEEL WILL GO 45 MPH.

  • @muddymuddymuddmann As you see, I started w/ your idea of using the pre-existing fan motor set-up. I've since fallen for the design double helix system set horizontal, it's a lower profile, it's mounting is more stable and I can use a sail instead of blades. It also then looks more like kinetic art AND I can change out the sail easily enough. As following vids will show.

  • @muddymuddymuddmann Anyway, the magnets will go onto one wheel and pass across the stator (coils) set inside a corresponding "fender" that wraps over the top.

Also IF someone wants to use a ceiling fan motor..I'd realized you can make up the difference between mags and stator using wood edging tape. It's actual wood w/ a glue on it that is heat activated. which is easier to use than metal strapping and will laminate to itself. It will move more BUT...maybe can be sealed. :]

  • @CaptBart OR YOU COULD JUST WIND YOUR COILS ON BOLTS OR ALL THREAD, AND ADJUST THE COILS DOWN TO THE MAGNETS. THE BOLTS WOULD GO THROUGH THE FENDER. HAVING THE SAILS ACROSS THE FROM ONE WHEEL TO THE OTHER POSES THE FENDER BEING MOUNTED ON ONE SIDE ONLY, UNLESS THEY ARE MOUNTED TO THE GROUND DECK INSTEAD OF THE AXEL BOLT. I WANT TO WATCH THE SAILS. THEY SEEM TO JUST FLOW IN ONE DIRRECTION. IT'S KINDA LIKE WATCHING THE WATER BEHIND A BOAT. ENTRANCING!

  • @muddymuddymuddmann OoOooOoo, very cool, did not know this, i will think this over!! Thanks MUDD!

  • @CaptBart JUST A THOUGHT HERE. THE SPROCKETS ON A TEN SPEED OR 12 SPEED WOULD MAKE A NICE BASE FOR MINI AXAIL FLUX GENNy.

  • @muddymuddymuddmann Daayum, yer just full of ideas! Thanks! A whole new project to go after! Woot!

  • @CaptBart I HAVE BEEN PLAGUED WITH THIS OBSCESSION FOR A LONG TIME. LOTS OF IDEAS HAVE RUN THROUGH THIS SKULL. SOME MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. FURTHERMORE...ROOF ARF AND BARK!

    I WOULD USE SMALL WIRE.
