That's true what has been said before. There's no tapping in the original solo, just pure alternate picking all the way. And he completely skips the nice vibrato in the middle and prefers sliding which kills it. Alexi seems too sloppy nowadays. He was totally amazing 10 years ago.

I was playing shows with Mudvayne and Monstrosity before I snapped my arm in half. I had to even change the way I HOLD the guitar due to limitations in wrist rotation. My vibrato is a lot weaker and narrower now as well. It fucks you all up.
Been a Bodom fan for over 8 years and I know he can play cleaner than this. This is still pretty great though...as sloppy as that one thing was in the beginning, he still plays with feel and passion which makes whichever he chooses to do enjoyable and not nimble fingered and weak. You can't really judge a player by this video cause' I think they had to cram this session in Japan before a show...he's probably hung over haha. He can normally shred this with more ease than what's shown here

i though i just would throw this comment in because everybody else is- being a guitar god involves being very skilled technically and musically the same. alexis got both so i would consider him to be one of the best guitarists alive right now. Jimi hendrix is another great example of what i just said and that is why jimi is considered the best guitarist ever.
honestly alot of great guitarists are not the best technically amazing, thats not what its takes to be a rockstar its takes being awesome to be a rockstar and alexi's got that.
I think he is an amazing guitarist not only cause he can shred well but he can also play fucking hard riffs while singing at the same time. I think that is what singles him out as being extremely talented.
@Ecko486 he mentioned on his rockhouse DVD that if he has a really hard riff that he needs to sing while doing he just plays it really slowly and whisper the rhythm of the vocals while playing it, and than he just increase the speed until he's got it.

But, if you saw another videos of COB or Laiho, then you can understand, that he is of much lower guitar skill, then, for example, Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore and many many others. kirk hammet isnt a very good live player, and neither is dave mustaine when it comes to solos (cemetery gates performance was terrible). is that close enough to COB. but those players are hailed as guitar gods.

@ryan4951 when people post their opinions of Alexi's playing being off, it's because that persons playing is good enough that what Alexi is doing in the video is so tangible to them that they genuinely have an opinion about what is happening on the screen. The fact that you are still stuck on the speed of the tapping just shows that you sir, are a guitar noob. Thanks for the inspiration by the way. I think i'll start posting more videos soon.

i though i just would throw this comment in because everybody else is- being a guitar god involves being very skilled technically and musically the same. alexis got both so i would consider him to be one of the best guitarists alive right now. Jimi hendrix is another great example of what i just said and that is why jimi is considered the best guitarist ever.

I think he is an amazing guitarist not only cause he can shred well but he can also play fucking hard riffs while singing at the same time. I think that is what singles him out as being extremely talented.

@Ecko486 he mentioned on his rockhouse DVD that if he has a really hard riff that he needs to sing while doing he just plays it really slowly and whisper the rhythm of the vocals while playing it, and than he just increase the speed until he's got it.

uh in this day and age when guitar music is dead and you shit players (trivium) with no distinct style, laiho is the shining light. he doesnt play well in this video but he does in others. and it is not only about technique, he composed these amazing melodies and solos.
also he is very brave to only use the bridge pick-up where other players (trivium) hide behind shit loads of distortion, neck pickup and delay.

Yes, you are right about his composing. But, if you saw another videos of COB or Laiho, then you can understand, that he is of much lower guitar skill, then, for example, Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore and many many others. Why it's so important?? Because a crowd of shitmen think that he is a guitar hero.. lol but sad...

You can't compare Led Zeppelin and Children of Bodom, which is playing music, which was created before in 80th.
If you interested in my opinion, I don't love how Jimmy plays, and I don't watch his video to analyze aspects of his playing guitar... sorry

kirk hammet isnt a very good live player, and neither is dave mustaine when it comes to solos (cemetery gates performance was terrible). is that close enough to COB. but those players are hailed as guitar gods.
