Corporations do provide millions of jobs...IN CHINA where they manufacture and INDIA where there customer service is. and in Taiwan where they get there materials. Only thing they do in America is collect on interest of American citizens and use there money against them. You show me 1 Company who paid 34% income tax and employs at least 1 million workers? You can't do it because it's a myth. Rich corporations invest there money over sea's. WE NEED TO TAX THEM MORE!!!
12 year old. ITS SO SIMPLE A 3 yr OLD CAN UNDERSTAND IT. ITS WHY OBAMA IS GONA WIN AGAIN.
Your tax cuts go to companies that manufacture in China. LOOK AROUND YOUR HOUSE MORON. ITS ALL CHINEASE CRAP. THAT STUFF COULD BE MADE HERE IF YOU WERE AMERICAN AND TRIED TO GIVE TAX CUTS TO COMPANYS AMNUFACTUREING. HERE WHY DO YOU KEEP GIVING TAX CUTS TO CHINA. WHERE WILL YOUR CHILDREN WORK IF YOU KEEP GIVING TAX CUTS TO CHINA? DO YOU GET IT YET. YOU’RE THE ONE WHO IS WRONG.
On final though Zach, if you're so concerned about the Chinese, you should really be concerned about our $15T national debt. The Chinese hold a great deal of this deal and it acts as a huge drag on the economy. An analysis of our spending and tax revenues shows that the debt is a result of too much spending, it is not a revenue problem. The solution is to limit government spending. At best, you might pull another 3% of GDP out of the econ in taxes, this will not close the gap.
@cartman1492 WHY DO YOU WANT TO GIVE TAX CUTS TO CHINA REPUBLICAN? I disagree with you. Your viewpoints are narrow. Obama is going to run on the fact that he has slowed the rate the debt was growing and the rate we loose jobs. I will point out 1 more example. if bush looses 5 jobs year 1, 10 yr 2,20 in yr 3, 40 in yr 4, 80 in yr 5,160 in yr 6, 320 in yr 7, 640 in yr 8. Then obama is doing a good job to only loose 1000 jobs in year 9 and 1700 jobs in yr 10.....DO YOU GET IT?
@zacharykelway Oh Jesus, you're back on that old saw again. I thought we had moved beyond that. I was beginning to think you were more intelligent than that based on our recent back and forth. Sadly, I must have been mistaken.
@zacharykelway You've had some sort of break with reality. Obama hasn't slowed the rate that the debt was growing, just the opposite. Bush increased the debt by about $4T over 8 years. Obama has increased the debt by about $5T over 3 years. That is not a decrease in the rate of growth.
@cartman1492 You don't understand me. Obama inherited bushes interest. It's from bushes debt he created with his prescription drug programs for drug companies and 2 unnecessary wars.
@zacharykelway You don't understand. Because the Treasury is currently able to borrow money at very low rates (2% or so), the interest is not a major contributor in the increase in the debt. Increases in spending are the major contributor. Obama has simply dramatically increased federal spending. Now, in the future when the Treasury can no longer sell bonds at 2%, interest may become a major problem and that is when the shit will really hit the fan and we'll have a debt snowball. Very ugly.
@zacharykelway Yes, the prescription drug program and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars contributed to Bush's debt increase. But, these wars were substantially ramped down and were costing no where near what they cost during the heaviest fighting which happened before Obama. The wars are costing 10's of Billions of dollars now, but this is a fraction of the $1.3T annual deficits we're seeing under Obama. Bush's worst deficit was in his last year and was about $400B btw.
@cartman1492 Bush reclassified fast food jobs as manufacturing jobs when fast food jobs were not counted as any job under Clinton. You republicans. You sit down eat a meal and when the check comes. you act mystified and say who ran the bill up. You destroy the government then say. Oh look at big bad government. Good thing all your candidates are nuts and can't get elected.
@zacharykelway Now you're just diverting away from the points I've raised. You turn and twist. I've said that both parties are responsible for this enormous debt. But you will not even admit that Obama (or apparently any other Democrat) is anything but perfect. This seems to border on a religion with you.
@cartman1492 You haven't raised any points. If Obama could institute the Warren Buffet Taxes the debt may actually shrink. There is a republican super committee in congress that says there goal has been to stop obama from governing as democrat. If Obama was not being cock blocked as a president the debt would be being taken care of but stupid Republicans want.....TAX CUTS FOR CHINA AND COMPANYS WHO MANUFACTURE OVER SEAS.
@zacharykelway Read what Buffet said in an interview just last week. He wants to raise taxes by about 4% of GDP, but he says that if Federal spending, including entitlements are not cut, tax increases will not close the hole in the budget. He even said that anyone that refuses to talk about cutting entitlements isn't serious about the debt crisis. Still want to cite Buffet because I basically agree with him. I'm sure you can find the interview transcript online.
@cartman1492 Under REPUBLICAN President Herbert Hoover leadership (1929–1933) America ended up with the GREAT DEPRESSION. On poverty, Hoover promised: "We in America today are nearer to the final triumph over poverty than ever before in the history of any land." Within months, the Stock Market Crash of 1929 occurred, and the nation's economy spiraled downward into what became known as the Great Depression.
@cartman1492 Republicans, want to get rid of NASA. They want to privatize the space program. We don't give enough to Nasa. How much money they get is a joke. Should be a church tax that gives straight to NASA. Then it would be judgment day.
@cartman1492 REPUBLICANS giving advice on how to repair America's problems or any other problems. Look at their track record. lolEND RESULTS under REPUBLICAN leadership.
Under REPUBLICAN President George Bush leadership (2001–2009) America ended up with the GREAT RECESSION.Under REPUBLICAN President Gerald Ford leadership (1974–1977) America ended up with the worst RECESSION since the GREAT DEPRESSION.
@zacharykelway Ok, let me sum up your elegant argument..... Republicans = Evil, Democrats = Good. God it pains me to think you're actually teaching children. Honestly, do you use that brain for anything besides something to keep your ears from slamming together?
@cartman1492 Your about right. Republicans are for big business and rich folks. They destroyed the middle class that FDR's Socialism built. Republicans are for monopolies. The last decent republican was Dwight D Eisenhower.
@zacharykelway Actually, it's FDR's programs and their offspring that are sinking the ship at the moment. Seriously, go find pie charts for recent Federal spending and better yet, go look at the CBO's projections for the Federal budgets in the coming years. We can cut defense to zero in out years and that doesn't fix the problem.
@cartman1492 Its about 30% for each of them. You call social security and healthcare entitlements. YOUR A NUT. Before social security people starved to death. Healthcare is a right. I swear if they get rid of Obama care it will get violent. People will start getting killed by Occupy wall street types. Think about. Would you be happy if your kid died because he couldn’t get on a waiting list for a organ while rich folk have botox and nose jobs...IT WILL GET VIOLENT.
@zacharykelway Fuck man, both the Dems and the Republicans agree that Social Security and Healthcare are entitlement programs. They are labeled as such in the budget. You don't get out much do you?
Wow, we're making threats now. Give me your money or we'll get violent. Yet another sign that you've lost this debate. You're simply delusional. Face it, you've lost. Anyone that reads this is going to conclude that you are nuts.
@zacharykelway BTW dumbass, just looked it up on Wikipedia. Defense spending is 20% of the Federal Budget, not 40%. Quit pulling numbers out of your ass.
@zacharykelway Wikipedia says 20% and they get their numbers off the federal government website. I don't think I'll trust your source. Unless you think the White House is understating on purpose the size of the defense budget.
@cartman1492 YOUR A NUT JOB. JUST LIKE EVERY REPUBLICAN YOU WANT TO GIVE TAX CUTS TO CHINA INSTEAD OF HELPING YOUR OWN COUNTRY. I bet you drive a Toyota, heck maybe you are Chinese. Hope you friends in China. That's where your kids will have to work if you keep giving tax cuts to china. Just think how much better America would be if REPUBLICANS wouldn’t give tax cuts to companies manufacturing in China.
@zacharykelway You know, I've violated the cardinal rule - "Never argue with a moron, he'll only drag you down to your level and beat you with experience". Well, as least the second part isn't true. Sleep well with the knowledge that anyone that bothers to read this lengthy exchange will only conclude that you are a self delusional person that is completely immune to fact and logic.
@cartman1492 All I am saying is that the spending is all things no one wants to get rid off. Good luck running on getting rid of healthcare and social security. Gallop polls show that 85% of America wants social security left alone. Also The polls show that 60% of Americans don't want Medicare shrunk either.
@zacharykelway I never said get rid of SS or Medicare/Medicaid. I've only stated what anyone that has looked seriously at the budget has concluded - these programs must be scaled back or this country will be bankrupt (which btw is what Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal are going through now). Fine, don't scale them back. When the government becomes insolvent they'll go away entirely. I'm not planning on receiving any of these benefits so I've planned accordingly. I'll be fine. Will you?
@cartman1492NO SOCIAL SECURITY NEEDS TO BE STRENGTHEND AND WE NEED TO GET UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE LIKE FRANCE AND CANIDA. I can't believe we have lesser healthcare here than Cuba and Canada and France. We let people die while some bitch buys a tit job. Before social security people starved to death. ONLY THING WE NEED TO DO IS GET RID OF REPUBLICANS GIVING TAX CUTS TO CHINA. DO YOU DRIVE A TOYOTA? You must like cheap Chinese crap that breaks. YOU KEEP VOTING FOR TAX CUTS THAT GO TO CHINA.
@jmjfanss I'll agree, about 90% of what Ron Paul says is the truth, the problem is that the remaining 10% is just batshit crazy. 9/11 was not done by the U.S. The border fence is not to keep U.S. citizens in. There's about 5 or 6 other things that Ron Paul believes that are also batshit crazy and if you believe them then you are crazy as well. Too bad, the guys right about most of what he says, he just can't be trusted because he's slightly insane.
@jmjfanss I agree that we need to protect our borders, and we need to bring -some- of our soldiers home. But to think that we can withdraw our military to our own borders and remain safe and secure is naive in the extreme. It's a dangerous world out there, with bad people with evil intentions. Isolationism will only ensure that they are strong when they ultimately attack us at home. You will not find security hiding under a rock. That has always been a fantasy.
@jmjfanss No, Ron Paul is far more isolationist than I think prudent. Paul as at one time or another stated that any problem we (the U.S.) have in the world is basically because of what -we- are doing in the world. I think that's foolish. There are simply bad actors in the world that will intend us harm even if there was not one U.S. soldier outside our borders. Believe it or no, we are not responsible for everything that happens in the world.
@jmjfanss He's not just a non-interventionalist, he's an isolationist. I think that's naive. He also says the U.S. government might have plotted 9/11. Like you he has blamed "Zionists" for our problems which I think is stupid. BTW, why don't you guys just man up and blame "the Jews" instead of hiding behind weasel words like "Zionists". Everyone knows that's what you mean anyway.
@jmjfanss cartman1492 probably didn't even know about it. There's really no point in trying to have a rational discussion with these paranoid, distrustful fluoride-head lemmings! Years ago we used to call them "wooden-heads" like their brains are fused into one predictable grain that cannot be changed. Go Ron Paul!
@cartman1492 Please research into what a "true Jew" is. It has to do with with adherence to religious principles. Hebrews who remain secular and ignore the 613 commandments and 100 praises required by God, are, by Torah ordination NOT JEWS. Zionists are going their claimed Judaism. People are not Jews by blood but by obedience. You don't know anything about the truth.
@cartman1492 Apparently you are an isolationist if you think not warring is the same as hiding under a rock. How about interacting with our neighbors, making friends, trading and communicating? No, you think if we're not at war with them then we have to hide under a rock. I wish people who cannot think could also not speak.
@cartman1492 Yes, but military bases does not always equal relationship with other countries. Some countries resent military presence because symbolically it's threatening. Imagine a stranger crashing in your house with a AK-47 and saying all he wants is peace. I doubt you would react kindly. Building trade and economic relationships with countries and remaining peaceful or neutral in most contentious matters (except for genocide) is the best policy.
@cartman1492 I disagree with you whole heartedly and I don't understand why republicans want to give tax cuts to companys that have there means of production over seas. You must all be chinese.
TAX CUTS------------->CHINA. That's the republican way.
@zacharykelway Face it Zach, you've lost this argument. Any fair reader would tell you that. You assert things with no backing, and when given a issue that you don't want to confront you twist and say TAX CUTS = TAX CUTS FOR CHINA. You're really just making yourself look worse with every post now.
@zacharykelway But if you admit that the debt is part of the problem with China, you must sign on to cutting spending. There is simply no way you can raise taxes enough to close the deficit without cratering the economy. So, how serious are you about China or is that just another strawman?
@cartman1492 YES I WANT TO CUT SPENDING ON MILITARY. OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS WE HAVE SPENT MORE MONEY ON THE MILITARY THAN EVERY SINGLE OTHER COUNTRY PUT TOGETHER.
@zacharykelway Look at the numbers numbnuts. You can cut military spending in half and it doesn't fix the problem. Your own guy Buffet says that it is the entitlements that are driving the train off the rails. Honestly, go find a pie chart of 2010 or 2011 federal spending and have a look.
@cartman1492 Your right Buffet only pretended to be a republican for 50 years so he could team up with obama because hes the antichrist who is destroying our country by giving people healthcare while some bitch is getting plastic surgery on her tits.
@zacharykelway Really? So if I make twice as much as you, and you pay half as much tax as me that's unfair? BTW, who said anything about a flat tax besides you tonight?
You know, I'm beginning to doubt that teacher story. I'm thinking you're an SSI guy more and more. You get really excited when I talk about the need to cut entitlements.
@cartman1492 YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS COMPLETLY OFF BASE. The car was all ready in the ditch when Obama took over. Then because you want to give tax cuts to china. You wont let him call a tow truck.
REPUBLICANS ANWSER. Lets give tax cuts to companies that manufacture over seas. What??? Democrats want to tax those companies and create American jobs. Oh that’s a bad thing huh. If we do that, No more tax cuts for china.
@zacharykelway BTW Zach, I was very unhappy with Bush's and the Republican's lack of fiscal responsibility while they were in office. I'll not be defending Bush on that at all, except to say that Obama has increased the debt at an even more alarming rate. The way I see it, both Bush and Obama were/are heading the nation off a fiscal cliff. Bush was headed for the cliff at 60mph, and Obama is heading for the abyss at 80mph. That's about the difference between the two.
@cartman1492 Also take away the debt acrewd on Obama's first 2 years. That was from the bail out bush caused and interest. If you look at what Obama is really responsable for it's a ant hill compared to bush.
@zacharykelway Wrong again. Bush's bailout was TARP (which Obama voted for btw). I wasn't a fan of TARP, but the fact is that the banks have repaid most of the TARP money and there's a decent chance that the feds will even make a profit on TARP (they bought stock in banks with some of the TARP money that will likely be sold for a profit). TARP is not the problem with Obama's increases in the National Debt. You keep looking to blame the dramatic increase in the debt under Obama on someone else.
@cartman1492 you act like obama didnt take over a ship that was all ready sunk. hes our only chance to crain our country out. You Can't hold the bailout against Obama. Your wrong that was a result of bush. Obama's bailout was all ready on the table before he took office. No matter who took over would have that debt. Obama dosen't own that or the job loss. You will see. Bush tried to mask his trouble. He really lost more jobs.
@zacharykelway Certainly there were problems. There was a housing bubble housing and there was a bank crisis. TARP basically resolved the banking crisis and only time will heal the housing bubble (which was partly fueled by federal policy btw). But, we now have general unemployment and slow to no growth. Much of this can be laid at Obama's feet. The rate of the debt increase has markets spooked, and healthcare has business reluctant to hire new employees. He took a bad econ and make it worse.
Zach, I think you need to do the right thing for America and resign from teaching. America will never compete with the Chinese while people such as yourself are responsible for the education of its youth. Do it for the children, do it for America.
@cartman1492 you should watch these videos on you tube.. "Tax cuts create jobs...Over seas" and "why Reagan/bush tax cuts hurt the economy. Hitler tried to call his nationalistic fascism. Socialism. Hitler never taxed rich people more than poor.. it's more propaganda out of the right. Kinda like today Republicans saying they love Jesus…when Jesus was a socialist and the bible is the first book on socialism(I made a video called” should we kill the tea party for being fascist".outlining this)
@zacharykelway Go look up the Nazi platform from the early 1930's. They were against "big business", specifically big retail stores, pro-union, pro-animal rights. They even proposed universal healthcare. True, latter on Hitler did court the capitalist that he would need for his war effort, that only meant that Nazism was whatever Hitler decided it was at that point, as ultimately Communism became whatever Stalin said it was. Mussolini started (and remained in his mind) as a dedicated Communist.
@zacharykelway Wrong again. Once Hitler later consolidated power, he did eventually fold in the independent unions under the Nazi party umbrella, but there is no denying that the Nazi party platform of the early 1930's was strongly pro-union. Besides, in this they were --identical-- to the Communist which also early on supported unions but eventually folded the independent unions into the State. So, you've pointed out a similarity of the two systems rather than a difference.
@zacharykelway I assume you refer to Reagan breaking the PATCO strike early in his first term. Are you aware that FDR himself thought that public sector employees should -not- be allowed to unionize at all? That's from the liberal icon himself.
@zacharykelway If the Reagan tax cuts (which btw ultimately increased federal tax revenue) hurt the economy, then how come it pulled out of a decade long slump after his policies where put into effect and grew at historic levels?
@cartman1492 First thats not true. Ronald reagen was a worse president than bush. He drove the national debt up really bad. So bad HE THEN RAISED TAXES 11 TIMES because he messed it up so bad. You should also watch "Ronald Reagen collective bargaining = freedom"
@zacharykelway The national debt in Regan's last year in office was about 38~40% of GDP. Keep in mind, that Reagan had a Democratic Congress for most of his years in office. By contrast, the national debt under Obama currently stands at 100% of GDP, and the Obama administration has increased it by 50% during his 3 years, (with a Democrat house & Senate for about 2/3rds of that time). Under Reagan, economic growth was strong, inflation was beaten, and unemployment decreased dramatically.
@cartman1492 Say a resturant looses 100,000 in year 1 and 200,000 in year 2 and 400,000 in year 3. and 800,000 in year 4. I then hire you to manage the resurant instead of george bush. Should i fire you when the company looses 1200,000 in year 5. No I should praise you for slowing the rate that we were loosing money. Even though we never lost that much before. Do you get it.
@zacharykelway But Obama hasn't slowed the decline. Unemployment is -higher- than it's worse at the end of Bush's term (about 7% versus 9%). The national debt has risen from $9T to about $15T under Obama (both increased the national debt by about 4 to 5 Trillion, but it took Bush 8 years versus 3 for Obama to do that). And we are in a period of stagnation where things are basically bumping along the bottom with little improvement.
Gosh, Zach's gotten awful quiet all the sudden. I think one of my posts found it's mark. Probably the inquiry on how many government programs he receives benefits from. I suspect that Zach is in that group that pays no income taxes, yet receives benefits in one from of the other. What is it? SSI? EBT? Both? How else to explain a man that doesn't care if the government -doubles- his taxes? After all, 2 x 0 = 0, right? Why of course such a person would favor ever higher taxes.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
@zacharykelway You're a bit of a kook. By your logic, if China, India and Taiwan are happy with lower U.S. corporate taxes, then we should raise them. To what level? Certainly by your logic, if 20% is good, then 40% is better, but why stop there? Why not 60% or 80%? Indeed, why not 100%. Apparently logic is not your forte.
@cartman1492 FDR Started the 90% tax on the rich. The USA ran this way from 1930 to 1980.FDR Died in office. He was elected to 4 terms. He would have been elected 10 times if he only could have lived that long. He started social security. He won world war 2 single handily. He was the best president of all. Next time you go to a state park or use a major highway. Look when it was created. Odds are FDR was in office around the time of it's construction. I find u anti American.
@zacharykelway Are you aware the the Great Depression did not end until the beginning of WWII and that unemployment rates never feel below 15% for the 8 years that Roosevelt was President before WWII? It is generally recognized among economist that the Roosevelt administrations policies almost certainly lengthened and deepened the Great Depression.
@cartman1492 We had a 90% tax on the rich from 1930 to 1980.Or. Americas heyday. Yes im aware it was hard to get out of the great depression Herbert Hoover got us into by enforcing the polices you are suggesting. Also no economist has ever said that about FDR's presidency. FDR IS CONSIDERD THE BEST US PRESIDENT behind Abraham Lincoln...The Creator of Income tax.
@zacharykelway You are rather thick in the head aren't you? Yes, on paper we had high top marginal rates. In reality, no one paid taxes at those rates because of a huge tax code with a legion of loopholes. Why would anyone want a tax regime like that? It's terribly inefficient. It makes people make economic decisions for basically political motives. Better to lower the marginal rates to what is actually being paid on average and eliminate the loopholes.
@cartman1492 WRONG AGAIN. Everything you sputter is miss informed. Those loopholes were not there until Tricky Richard Nixon. It was a 64% Corporate tax and 90% income tax on those making more than 300,000. The loopholes were not widely abused tell the early 80's and it's not my party stopping the closing of loop holes. Nor did we put them in there. Democrats are not a bunch of cry baby’s who don't want to pay there taxes.
@zacharykelway You simply don't know your history. Loopholes were put into the tax code as soon as the rates were raised, and loopholes continued to be added by both parties until the code was simplified in the 1980's. And, once tax simplification was passed, loopholes began to creep in almost immediately, again sponsored by both parties. I really suggest you break out a history book.
@zacharykelway It really matters little to me what you consider to be accurate. Stick your fingers in your ears and shout "la la la" all you like. It doesn't change the facts which btw are freely available to anyone that cares to look.
@zacharykelway BTW Zach, exactly how do high taxes make out economy grow? How do they encourage economic activity? How do they encourage companies to invest and hire more people? And when the federal government spends money in a grossly inefficient manner, how does that help our standard of living? Can you name for me the society that taxed it's way to prosperity?
@cartman1492HOW DO TAXES MAKE OUR ECONEMY GROW? Are you serious. Your the idiot of the year. You pay a man to fix our crumbling infrastructure. He then has a job to pay for his family’s needs. Simple as that. We could build schools, Create Government manufacturing jobs....the list is endless. All of which is better than your advice. Give tax cuts to wall mart so they can create more Chinese manufacturing jobs. How miss informed you are.
@zacharykelway So, our "crumbling infrastructure" is the cause of our current predicament? Almost no one believes that. Government manufacturing jobs? Are you kidding? I thought the collapse of the USSR put that idea to rest. You assume that all government spending is wise and efficient. I assure you it is neither. Who makes these spending decisions? Politicians. I have zero confidence in politicians of either party to spend money wisely or efficiently. They will spend it to re-elect themselves
@cartman1492 Why do you want to give tax cuts to company's in China? This Reelection is gona be a cake walk. It's simple if you are Chinese....VOTE REPUBLICAN. If you are American Vote Democrat. Are You Chinese? I bet you drive a Toyota. You politics is why, when I call my cable company I get a Indian guy. Cause your tax cuts pay his wages in India.
@zacharykelway Strawman. You're lost the argument so you've resorted to a repeated slogan which has no basis in logic or fact. You are unusually dim witted.
@zacharykelway FDR was a great war time leader as President. He was terrible on economics and did much damage to the liberties once protected by out Constitution.
@zacharykelway BTW, marginal rates are ultimately not what matters. Actual rates matter. While the U.S. did have very high marginal income tax rates until the 1980's, it was almost unheard of that anyone was actually being taxed at these rates becomes of numerous loopholes. Nobody was paying 90% marginal tax rates.
Private sector corporations do provide millions of jobs...IN CHINA where they manufacture and INDIA where there customer service is. and in Taiwan where they get there materials. Only thing they do in America is collect on interest of American citizens and use there money against them. You show me 1 Company who paid 34% income tax and employs at least 1 million workers? You can't do it because it's a myth. Rich corporations invest there money over sea's. LET'S TAX EM MORE!
@zacharykelway You do understand sir that at the end of the day, corporations do not pay taxes? All corporate taxes are either passed to the consumer as higher costs, to employees as lower wages, or to the stock holders as lower returns. Taxes are simply operating expenses which must ultimately be passed on to other parties. The technical term for companies which can not pass on operating expenses is "bankrupt". This is econ 101.
@cartman1492Wrong. When big corporations pay higher taxes. They raise prices temporarily because they have to lower them soon after. See if you tax wall mart they then charge more for a flash light. Then I can start a company making flash lights to compete with wall mart. I hire a work force and pay them like Americans deserve to be paid(Instead of china workers). My flashlight company is so popular wall mart has to lower prices on flash lights to continue selling them. Get it yet?
@zacharykelway You simply have no idea of what you are speaking. All companies must pass on all of their operating expenses plus add something for profit. They pass on employee wages, energy costs, material cost, taxes, etc in the price of their product. At the end of the day, only people pay taxes. Corporation are a legal construct for sake of convenience, but have no delusions, they ultimately pay no taxes, only people do.
@cartman1492 WRONG, Drop your propaganda. You want to give tax cuts to China. YOUR STUPID TAX CUTS TO CHINA. Everytime I go in a store everything is made in China. Why cause you keep giving tax cuts to companies who manufacture in China, have customer service in India. IF YOU KEEP GIVING TAX CUTS TO CHINA, WHERE WILL YOUR CHILDREN WORK. IDK Maybe you are Chinese. I wish the government manufactured stuff again...Then I would see "Made in USA" on stuff again. "FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE"
@zacharykelway You're delusional. I'm not saying that I want to raise or lower net corporate taxes. I am saying that it makes no sense to have the highest corporate tax rate in the Western world, but to have numerous loopholes so that no one actually pays those rates. Better to have a simpler tax code, with much fewer loopholes, but reducing the rates to something reasonable. Such a change might not lower actual corporate taxes at all, indeed it might raise them a bit.
@zacharykelway Your illustration about your flashlight company is off base. You forget, your flashlight company will also be paying corporate taxes. So, it doesn't matter whether I buy my flashlight from you or Walmart, corporate taxes will have been included in the part of the price devoted to covering operating cost by both companies. Corporation simply do not pay taxes if they are profitable. They are merely transmission conduits that move taxes from the consumer to the government.
@cartman1492 No Corporate taxes should only be raised on large companies. No one is trying to raise taxes on a small biasness. That's a scare tactic republicans use. "We have nothing to fear but fear itself"
@cartman1492 Yes you said my flashlight company would pay higher corprate tax too and thats why it would fail. NO buddy my flashlight company will recive government grants from the higher taxes on wall mart.
@zacharykelway My god you're dumb. I never said your flashlight company would fail because of high corporate taxes (re-read my post). I said that it didn't matter who the consumer bought the flashlight from because corporate taxes would have been figured into the price regardless of who he purchased from, thus demonstrating that it is the consumer that ultimately pays the taxes. You've done nothing to refute that and I can tell you that economist are in broad agreement on this fact.
@cartman1492 I don't care about taxes I pay. Do you get it. I can have my taxes doubled. I don't care because the government is my government. What's the worst they do. Create more jobs with the money, Feed a homeless guy, O I guess if a Republican is in office it may lead to a useless war. No when my government pays a infrastructure worker or creates a government job. It pumps into our economy. Not like your tax cuts that go straight to china's manufacturing.
@zacharykelway So, the government has spent something north of a trillion dollars on stimulus, exactly how many jobs has that created? Why is unemployment stuck around 9% (and actual unemployment closer to 17%). The facts ague against you. And you really don't care if your taxes are doubled? I can only conclude you are in the 49% of Americans that pay no income tax. And you want to feed the homeless .... fine, a noble endeavor, do it with your own money.
@cartman1492 First off. Under Clinton we were gaining jobs each year. Bush came in and we started loosing more and more jobs each year. So you loose 1 job 1 year, 3 jobs the next year, 20 jobs the next year, 40 jobs the next, 80 the next. you expect to stop this trend over night. Even Obama can't do that. If you don't feed the homeless. The homeless will rob your bank or store and feed themselves. It's your choice. ARE YOU CHINEASE. Why do republicans want to give tax cuts to china
@zacharykelway Your linkage of tax cuts to American business (which I haven't actually argued for) resulting in money going to China is laughable. It's the kind of logic a 12 year old might use, and a remarkably slow one at that.
Find, lets -raise- taxes on companies. How many U.S. companies will choose to relocate their headquarters outside of the U.S. once you do that? Are you going to put a gun to their heads and force them to stay?
@cartman1492 12 year old.
@zacharykelway BTW, remember what I said about ALL CAPS making you look like a kook. Of course, you are a kook, but you really don't want to show your hand so early, do you?
@zacharykelway So, in Zach's world, American's shouldn't be able to choose to buy products from China if that is what they want. What other decisions would you like to make for the American people? Sounds rather like a fascist state to me.
@cartman1492 AND FINALLY IT COMES OUT. HE IS CHINESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want Chinese Crap go live in China. We want American Made stuff here in America. Look at this Chinese moron. He thinks we can continue to have a country without manufacturing anything. Go Drive your Toyota or Honda in china and take your Chinese shoes and TVs with you Republican. ME AND THE REST OF THE AMERICANS CAN BUILD OUR OWN. CHINESE BOY.
@zacharykelway Wow, my eyes are very very round to be Chinese. This is your argument? What a joke.
So, the SSI check due to drop in your bank account this week? And those EBT cards are great aren't they? They're just like credit cards, only you never have to make a payment.
I really like you Zach, you're good for a chuckle. You amuse me. The entertainment value of exceedingly stupid people is highly undervalued in my opinion.
@cartman1492 Guy who wants to give tax cuts to Honda,Toyota,Wall Mart,General Electric(Hey they give money to the Democrats) ALL THOSE COMPANYS ARE IN CHINA,JAPAN.... Do you get it. TAX HIKES ON those companies create the ability for Americans to be Employed and funnel money into our economy. Tax Cuts for those companies go OVER SEAS.
TAX CUTS---->China(YIPPI), Japan(hell yeah), India(Thank you), Taiwan..... GET IT? Do you now understand why you are a Chinese?
@zacharykelway My god, it really is frightening that a person who can't follow logic I'm pretty sure I could train a chicken to follow is in a classroom teaching American children. Oh well, no wonder the Chinese are doing so well, what with our youth being so badly taught.
@cartman1492 He calls me Fascist for wanting American stuff. NO IDIOT. Your the Fascist who wants his popular Chinese crap. Im the one who wants to work and build his own stuff. My wife is a accountant and I am a 8th grade History teacher. we do very well. Never needed government aid. Don't confuse me though. I stand up for government aid. I would rather have that as appose to criminals who are just gonad steal to make means. Then once they steal we put them in jail and it costs even more.
@zacharykelway No, I call you a fascist for wanting to make purchasing decisions for other people. I suspect that you aren't competent enough to mind your own business, by what right do you think you should mind the business of other people?
@cartman1492 WRONG AGAIN. YOU ARE THE FASCIST. If you are going to call me something government related for not wanting to have everything in my house made in china. You would call me communist not fascist. you hay seed.
@zacharykelway There's not a gnat's hair difference between communist and fascist governments in practice. And I fault you not for wanting everything in your house to be made in America. That's your business. It's fascist when you decide to take away the right to make that decision from others.
@cartman1492 HUGE DIFRENCE BETWEEN FASCISM AND CUMMUNISM. Are you serious man?
I suppose in your world Hitler and Stalin were best freinds and drank tea together. Cumunism and fascism are completly diffrent. 25*left Communism,20*Left Marxism,15*left socialism, 10*left Liberalism,5*left Labor, Center, 5*right Management,10*right Conservatism 15*right Nationalism, 20*Right Nazism 25*right Fascism.Your SAT score must be crap.Your whats wrong with the country. You don't know left for right.
@zacharykelway My SAT scores were good enough to get me in a top Engineering School with a vastly more difficult curriculum than any education school in America (look it up, Ed. Majors consistently fall in the bottom quintile of SAT scores).
Nazism, i.e. National Socialism was simply Communism with the international aspect removed and strong nationalism inserted in it's place. In fact, American progressives were most impressed with Mussolini's Italian model in the 1930 and praised it greatly.
@zacharykelway BTW, if you doubt my SAT scores we could delve into Partial Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, or Multivariable Calculus if you like.
@zacharykelway BTW, the idea that Fascism and Communism were polar opposites was an idea that was coined by the Communist to obfuscate how similar the two systems actually were. Are you aware that Stalin branded Leon Trotsky a "Fascist" when he broke with Stalin? Surely no one would call Trotsky a Fascist now. And the Communist in Germany used to have a saying "first brown (as in shirts), then red", in other words they believed that the Nazis were kindred and would be converted to "reds" easily.
@cartman1492 If you read the communist manifesto and compare it to what Mussolini tried to do in Italy. They are night and day different. Ownership of a private company is not evident in a true communist country. In a fascist society it is much like America's stock market with much private ownership.
@zacharykelway Mussolini started as, and remained in his own mind a Communist to the end. His only dispute with classical Marxism/Leninism was that he rejected the international aspect of Communist theory. True, he let some business stay nominally in private hands, but they made product and paid wages according to government dictate, so they were private in name only. And, he nationalized many industries from the late 1920's on. Hitler followed the same model but he added in a racial element.
@zacharykelway Finally we agree on something. Mussolini defined Fascism. In fact he coined the term. Mussolini started as a Communist, but later rejected the internationalism of Marxism as unworkable, so he formed a new system based on the ideas he had embraced as a dedicated Communist with one twist, his version of Communism would not reject the nation-state but would instead promote a strong sense of nationalist sentiment while retaining most of Marx's core ideas.
@cartman1492 I have read a book claiming the same thing as you are. That fascism and communism are similar. I disagreed with it whole heartedly. There are more scholars that agree with my point of view than yours. I would like you to give me one example of Hitler demonstrating Socialist or Communist principals in Germany.
@zacharykelway Yes, there are more scholars currently that disagree on the similarities between Communism and Fascism. However, it is undeniable that most of the academy is on the left end of the spectrum and they have a vested interest in denying that Communism and Fascism shared much in common. However, this idea is beginning to gain ground.
But lets face it, in practice both systems were simply dictatorships and ideology was of minor concern ultimately to each.
@zacharykelway Ding Ding Ding!!!! We have a winner! A government employee, the only other class of people that would like to see everyone's taxes go up!!! Sure, double your taxes. Naturally you figure that after everyone else's taxes are doubled your salary and benefits will increase in a manner more than adequate to offset the increase. Dammit, government employee was my second choice! Well, you can't win'em all. It really is disturbing that someone so stupid is teaching 8th graders though.
@zacharykelway I don't believe you. Someone that is so enamored of the government can only work in a government school. Why, you wouldn't be true to your team otherwise. No, definitely a government employee. That explains the undying faith that the government is all wise and knowing. And besides, no private school I've ever seen would hire someone so stupid.
@zacharykelway BTW, you asked what's the worse the government can do with our tax money then you name two arguably noble things. What a strawman. The worse they can do is blow it on boondoggles like Solyndra (about half a billion there) which return nothing of value to the taxpayer. Actually, they can do even worse, they can create counter productive programs which act as actual brakes on the economy.
This is one of the most honest speeches by one of the most honest presidents.

At best, you might pull another 3% of GDP out of the econ in taxes, this will not close the gap.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 WHY DO YOU WANT TO GIVE TAX CUTS TO CHINA REPUBLICAN? I disagree with you. Your viewpoints are narrow. Obama is going to run on the fact that he has slowed the rate the debt was growing and the rate we loose jobs. I will point out 1 more example. if bush looses 5 jobs year 1, 10 yr 2,20 in yr 3, 40 in yr 4, 80 in yr 5,160 in yr 6, 320 in yr 7, 640 in yr 8. Then obama is doing a good job to only loose 1000 jobs in year 9 and 1700 jobs in yr 10.....DO YOU GET IT?
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Oh Jesus, you're back on that old saw again. I thought we had moved beyond that. I was beginning to think you were more intelligent than that based on our recent back and forth. Sadly, I must have been mistaken.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You've had some sort of break with reality. Obama hasn't slowed the rate that the debt was growing, just the opposite. Bush increased the debt by about $4T over 8 years. Obama has increased the debt by about $5T over 3 years. That is not a decrease in the rate of growth.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 You don't understand me. Obama inherited bushes interest. It's from bushes debt he created with his prescription drug programs for drug companies and 2 unnecessary wars.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You don't understand. Because the Treasury is currently able to borrow money at very low rates (2% or so), the interest is not a major contributor in the increase in the debt. Increases in spending are the major contributor. Obama has simply dramatically increased federal spending. Now, in the future when the Treasury can no longer sell bonds at 2%, interest may become a major problem and that is when the shit will really hit the fan and we'll have a debt snowball. Very ugly.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Yes, the prescription drug program and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars contributed to Bush's debt increase. But, these wars were substantially ramped down and were costing no where near what they cost during the heaviest fighting which happened before Obama. The wars are costing 10's of Billions of dollars now, but this is a fraction of the $1.3T annual deficits we're seeing under Obama. Bush's worst deficit was in his last year and was about $400B btw.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Bush reclassified fast food jobs as manufacturing jobs when fast food jobs were not counted as any job under Clinton. You republicans. You sit down eat a meal and when the check comes. you act mystified and say who ran the bill up. You destroy the government then say. Oh look at big bad government. Good thing all your candidates are nuts and can't get elected.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Now you're just diverting away from the points I've raised. You turn and twist. I've said that both parties are responsible for this enormous debt. But you will not even admit that Obama (or apparently any other Democrat) is anything but perfect. This seems to border on a religion with you.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 You haven't raised any points. If Obama could institute the Warren Buffet Taxes the debt may actually shrink. There is a republican super committee in congress that says there goal has been to stop obama from governing as democrat. If Obama was not being cock blocked as a president the debt would be being taken care of but stupid Republicans want.....TAX CUTS FOR CHINA AND COMPANYS WHO MANUFACTURE OVER SEAS.
zacharykelway 3 months ago

@zacharykelway Actually, it's FDR's programs and their offspring that are sinking the ship at the moment. We can cut defense to zero in out years and that doesn't fix the problem.

@cartman1492 YOUR A IDIOT. The entitlements are nothing. 40% goes to military,30% goes to social security,30% goes to health care.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway So, by your own numbers, entitlements are 60% of the budget. Don't they make you do math to get a teaching degree?
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Its about 30% for each of them. You call social security and healthcare entitlements. YOUR A NUT. Before social security people starved to death. Healthcare is a right. I swear if they get rid of Obama care it will get violent. People will start getting killed by Occupy wall street types. Think about. Would you be happy if your kid died because he couldn’t get on a waiting list for a organ while rich folk have botox and nose jobs...IT WILL GET VIOLENT.

cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 All I am saying is that the spending is all things no one wants to get rid off. Good luck running on getting rid of healthcare and social security. Gallop polls show that 85% of America wants social security left alone. Also The polls show that 60% of Americans don't want Medicare shrunk either.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway I never said get rid of SS or Medicare/Medicaid. I've only stated what anyone that has looked seriously at the budget has concluded - these programs must be scaled back or this country will be bankrupt (which btw is what Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal are going through now). Fine, don't scale them back. When the government becomes insolvent they'll go away entirely. I'm not planning on receiving any of these benefits so I've planned accordingly. I'll be fine. Will you?

There's about 5 or 6 other things that Ron Paul believes that are also batshit crazy and if you believe them then you are crazy as well. Too bad, the guys right about most of what he says, he just can't be trusted because he's slightly insane.
cartman1492 3 months ago

Because we have soliders all around the world to protect their borders, yet we can't even protect ours here at home, that is unbelievable.
we need to bring our troops home now.
jmjfanss 3 months ago
@jmjfanss I agree that we need to protect our borders, and we need to bring -some- of our soldiers home. But to think that we can withdraw our military to our own borders and remain safe and secure is naive in the extreme. It's a dangerous world out there, with bad people with evil intentions. Isolationism will only ensure that they are strong when they ultimately attack us at home. You will not find security hiding under a rock. That has always been a fantasy.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492
Even ron paul agrees with you on this.
jmjfanss 3 months ago
@jmjfanss No, Ron Paul is far more isolationist than I think prudent. Paul as at one time or another stated that any problem we (the U.S.) have in the world is basically because of what -we- are doing in the world. I think that's foolish. There are simply bad actors in the world that will intend us harm even if there was not one U.S. soldier outside our borders. Believe it or no, we are not responsible for everything that happens in the world.

jeremyareyou 2 months ago
@cartman1492 Please research into what a "true Jew" is. It has to do with with adherence to religious principles. Hebrews who remain secular and ignore the 613 commandments and 100 praises required by God, are, by Torah ordination NOT JEWS. Zionists are going their claimed Judaism. People are not Jews by blood but by obedience. You don't know anything about the truth.
jeremyareyou 2 months ago

jeremyareyou 2 months ago
@cartman1492 Yes, but military bases does not always equal relationship with other countries. Some countries resent military presence because symbolically it's threatening. Imagine a stranger crashing in your house with a AK-47 and saying all he wants is peace. I doubt you would react kindly. Building trade and economic relationships with countries and remaining peaceful or neutral in most contentious matters (except for genocide) is the best policy.

@zacharykelway BTW Zach, I was very unhappy with Bush's and the Republican's lack of fiscal responsibility while they were in office. You keep looking to blame the dramatic increase in the debt under Obama on someone else.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 you act like obama didnt take over a ship that was all ready sunk. hes our only chance to crain our country out. You Can't hold the bailout against Obama. Your wrong that was a result of bush. Obama's bailout was all ready on the table before he took office. No matter who took over would have that debt. Obama dosen't own that or the job loss. You will see. Bush tried to mask his trouble. He really lost more jobs.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Certainly there were problems. There was a housing bubble housing and there was a bank crisis. TARP basically resolved the banking crisis and only time will heal the housing bubble (which was partly fueled by federal policy btw). But, we now have general unemployment and slow to no growth. Much of this can be laid at Obama's feet. The rate of the debt increase has markets spooked, and healthcare has business reluctant to hire new employees. He took a bad econ and make it worse.
cartman1492 3 months ago
Zach, I think you need to do the right thing for America and resign from teaching. America will never compete with the Chinese while people such as yourself are responsible for the education of its youth. Do it for the children, do it for America.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 you should watch these videos on you tube.. "Tax cuts create jobs...Over seas" and "why Reagan/bush tax cuts hurt the economy. Hitler tried to call his nationalistic fascism. Socialism. Hitler never taxed rich people more than poor.. it's more propaganda out of the right. Kinda like today Republicans saying they love Jesus…when Jesus was a socialist and the bible is the first book on socialism(I made a video called” should we kill the tea party for being fascist".outlining this)
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Go look up the Nazi platform from the early 1930's. They were against "big business", specifically big retail stores, pro-union, pro-animal rights. They even proposed universal healthcare. True, latter on Hitler did court the capitalist that he would need for his war effort, that only meant that Nazism was whatever Hitler decided it was at that point, as ultimately Communism became whatever Stalin said it was. Mussolini started (and remained in his mind) as a dedicated Communist.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 WRONG. HITLER BANNED UNIONS IN GERMANY IN `1933.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Wrong again. Once Hitler later consolidated power, he did eventually fold in the independent unions under the Nazi party umbrella, but there is no denying that the Nazi party platform of the early 1930's was strongly pro-union. Besides, in this they were --identical-- to the Communist which also early on supported unions but eventually folded the independent unions into the State. So, you've pointed out a similarity of the two systems rather than a difference.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Hitler made unions illegal. Did you not watch "Ronald Reagen collective bargaining and freedom"
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway I assume you refer to Reagan breaking the PATCO strike early in his first term. Are you aware that FDR himself thought that public sector employees should -not- be allowed to unionize at all? That's from the liberal icon himself.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway If the Reagan tax cuts (which btw ultimately increased federal tax revenue) hurt the economy, then how come it pulled out of a decade long slump after his policies where put into effect and grew at historic levels?
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 First thats not true. Ronald reagen was a worse president than bush. He drove the national debt up really bad. So bad HE THEN RAISED TAXES 11 TIMES because he messed it up so bad. You should also watch "Ronald Reagen collective bargaining = freedom"
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway The national debt in Regan's last year in office was about 38~40% of GDP. Keep in mind, that Reagan had a Democratic Congress for most of his years in office. By contrast, the national debt under Obama currently stands at 100% of GDP, and the Obama administration has increased it by 50% during his 3 years, (with a Democrat house & Senate for about 2/3rds of that time). Under Reagan, economic growth was strong, inflation was beaten, and unemployment decreased dramatically.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Say a resturant looses 100,000 in year 1 and 200,000 in year 2 and 400,000 in year 3. and 800,000 in year 4. I then hire you to manage the resurant instead of george bush. Should i fire you when the company looses 1200,000 in year 5. No I should praise you for slowing the rate that we were loosing money. Even though we never lost that much before. Do you get it.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway But Obama hasn't slowed the decline. Unemployment is -higher- than it's worse at the end of Bush's term (about 7% versus 9%). The national debt has risen from $9T to about $15T under Obama (both increased the national debt by about 4 to 5 Trillion, but it took Bush 8 years versus 3 for Obama to do that). And we are in a period of stagnation where things are basically bumping along the bottom with little improvement.

@cartman1492 RONALD Reagen was a union president before he was the us president. I bet your tea baggers don't tell you that.

TAX CUTS -----> China"Yippi" India "Yeah"Taiwan "WooHoo"
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You're a bit of a kook. By your logic, if China, India and Taiwan are happy with lower U.S. corporate taxes, then we should raise them. To what level? Certainly by your logic, if 20% is good, then 40% is better, but why stop there? Why not 60% or 80%? Indeed, why not 100%. Apparently logic is not your forte.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 FDR Started the 90% tax on the rich. The USA ran this way from 1930 to 1980.FDR Died in office. He was elected to 4 terms. He would have been elected 10 times if he only could have lived that long. He started social security. He won world war 2 single handily. He was the best president of all. Next time you go to a state park or use a major highway. Look when it was created. Odds are FDR was in office around the time of it's construction. I find u anti American.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Are you aware the the Great Depression did not end until the beginning of WWII and that unemployment rates never feel below 15% for the 8 years that Roosevelt was President before WWII? It is generally recognized among economist that the Roosevelt administrations policies almost certainly lengthened and deepened the Great Depression.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 We had a 90% tax on the rich from 1930 to 1980.Or. Americas heyday. Yes im aware it was hard to get out of the great depression Herbert Hoover got us into by enforcing the polices you are suggesting. Also no economist has ever said that about FDR's presidency. FDR IS CONSIDERD THE BEST US PRESIDENT behind Abraham Lincoln...The Creator of Income tax.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You are rather thick in the head aren't you? Yes, on paper we had high top marginal rates. In reality, no one paid taxes at those rates because of a huge tax code with a legion of loopholes. Why would anyone want a tax regime like that? It's terribly inefficient. It makes people make economic decisions for basically political motives. Better to lower the marginal rates to what is actually being paid on average and eliminate the loopholes.
Not much of a deep thinker are you?
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 WRONG AGAIN. Everything you sputter is miss informed. Those loopholes were not there until Tricky Richard Nixon. It was a 64% Corporate tax and 90% income tax on those making more than 300,000. The loopholes were not widely abused tell the early 80's and it's not my party stopping the closing of loop holes. Nor did we put them in there. Democrats are not a bunch of cry baby’s who don't want to pay there taxes.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You simply don't know your history. Loopholes were put into the tax code as soon as the rates were raised, and loopholes continued to be added by both parties until the code was simplified in the 1980's. And, once tax simplification was passed, loopholes began to creep in almost immediately, again sponsored by both parties. I really suggest you break out a history book.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Your the one who needs the History lesson. I consider not one scrap of this comment to be accurate.

zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway BTW Zach, exactly how do high taxes make out economy grow? How do they encourage economic activity? How do they encourage companies to invest and hire more people? And when the federal government spends money in a grossly inefficient manner, how does that help our standard of living? Can you name for me the society that taxed it's way to prosperity?
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492HOW DO TAXES MAKE OUR ECONEMY GROW? Are you serious. Your the idiot of the year. You pay a man to fix our crumbling infrastructure. He then has a job to pay for his family’s needs. Simple as that. We could build schools, Create Government manufacturing jobs....the list is endless. All of which is better than your advice. Give tax cuts to wall mart so they can create more Chinese manufacturing jobs. How miss informed you are.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway So, our "crumbling infrastructure" is the cause of our current predicament? Almost no one believes that. Government manufacturing jobs? Are you kidding? I thought the collapse of the USSR put that idea to rest. You assume that all government spending is wise and efficient. I assure you it is neither. Who makes these spending decisions? Politicians. I have zero confidence in politicians of either party to spend money wisely or efficiently. They will spend it to re-elect themselves
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Why do you want to give tax cuts to company's in China? This Reelection is gona be a cake walk. It's simple if you are Chinese....VOTE REPUBLICAN. If you are American Vote Democrat. @zacharykelway FDR was a great war time leader as President. He was terrible on economics and did much damage to the liberties once protected by out Constitution.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway BTW, marginal rates are ultimately not what matters. Actual rates matter. While the U.S. did have very high marginal income tax rates until the 1980's, it was almost unheard of that anyone was actually being taxed at these rates becomes of numerous loopholes. Nobody was paying 90% marginal tax rates.
cartman1492 3 months ago
IDIOT REPUBLICANS
Private sector corporations do provide millions of jobs...IN CHINA where they manufacture and INDIA where there customer service is. and in Taiwan where they get there materials. Only thing they do in America is collect on interest of American citizens and use there money against them. You show me 1 Company who paid 34% income tax and employs at least 1 million workers? You can't do it because it's a myth. Rich corporations invest there money over sea's. LET'S TAX EM MORE!
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You do understand sir that at the end of the day, corporations do not pay taxes? All corporate taxes are either passed to the consumer as higher costs, to employees as lower wages, or to the stock holders as lower returns. Taxes are simply operating expenses which must ultimately be passed on to other parties. The technical term for companies which can not pass on operating expenses is "bankrupt". This is econ 101.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492Wrong. When big corporations pay higher taxes. They raise prices temporarily because they have to lower them soon after. See if you tax wall mart they then charge more for a flash light. Then I can start a company making flash lights to compete with wall mart. I hire a work force and pay them like Americans deserve to be paid(Instead of china workers). My flashlight company is so popular wall mart has to lower prices on flash lights to continue selling them. Get it yet?
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You simply have no idea of what you are speaking. All companies must pass on all of their operating expenses plus add something for profit. They pass on employee wages, energy costs, material cost, taxes, etc in the price of their product. At the end of the day, only people pay taxes. Corporation are a legal construct for sake of convenience, but have no delusions, they ultimately pay no taxes, only people do.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 WRONG, Drop your propaganda. You want to give tax cuts to China. YOUR STUPID TAX CUTS TO CHINA. Everytime I go in a store everything is made in China. Why cause you keep giving tax cuts to companies who manufacture in China, have customer service in India. IF YOU KEEP GIVING TAX CUTS TO CHINA, WHERE WILL YOUR CHILDREN WORK. IDK Maybe you are Chinese. I wish the government manufactured stuff again...Then I would see "Made in USA" on stuff again. "FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE"
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway You're delusional. I'm not saying that I want to raise or lower net corporate taxes. I am saying that it makes no sense to have the highest corporate tax rate in the Western world, but to have numerous loopholes so that no one actually pays those rates. Better to have a simpler tax code, with much fewer loopholes, but reducing the rates to something reasonable. Such a change might not lower actual corporate taxes at all, indeed it might raise them a bit.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway BTW, let me give you a little tip. USING ALL CAPS MAKES YOU COME OFF LIKE A BIT OF A KOOK. See?
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Your illustration about your flashlight company is off base. You forget, your flashlight company will also be paying corporate taxes. So, it doesn't matter whether I buy my flashlight from you or Walmart, corporate taxes will have been included in the part of the price devoted to covering operating cost by both companies. Corporation simply do not pay taxes if they are profitable. They are merely transmission conduits that move taxes from the consumer to the government.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 No Corporate taxes should only be raised on large companies. No one is trying to raise taxes on a small biasness. That's a scare tactic republicans use. "We have nothing to fear but fear itself"
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Did I mention anything about big versus small business?
One thing is for sure, the current White House occupant loves big business based on who is donating to his campaign.

zacharykelway 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Yes you said my flashlight company would pay higher corprate tax too and thats why it would fail. NO buddy my flashlight company will recive government grants from the higher taxes on wall mart.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway My god you're dumb. I never said your flashlight company would fail because of high corporate taxes (re-read my post). I said that it didn't matter who the consumer bought the flashlight from because corporate taxes would have been figured into the price regardless of who he purchased from, thus demonstrating that it is the consumer that ultimately pays the taxes. You've done nothing to refute that and I can tell you that economist are in broad agreement on this fact.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 I don't care about taxes I pay. Do you get it. I can have my taxes doubled. I don't care because the government is my government. What's the worst they do. Create more jobs with the money, Feed a homeless guy, O I guess if a Republican is in office it may lead to a useless war. No when my government pays a infrastructure worker or creates a government job. It pumps into our economy. Not like your tax cuts that go straight to china's manufacturing.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway So, the government has spent something north of a trillion dollars on stimulus, exactly how many jobs has that created? Why is unemployment stuck around 9% (and actual unemployment closer to 17%). The facts ague against you. And you really don't care if your taxes are doubled? I can only conclude you are in the 49% of Americans that pay no income tax. And you want to feed the homeless .... fine, a noble endeavor, do it with your own money.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 First off. Under Clinton we were gaining jobs each year. Bush came in and we started loosing more and more jobs each year. So you loose 1 job 1 year, 3 jobs the next year, 20 jobs the next year, 40 jobs the next, 80 the next. you expect to stop this trend over night. Even Obama can't do that. If you don't feed the homeless. The homeless will rob your bank or store and feed themselves. It's your choice. ARE YOU CHINEASE. Why do republicans want to give tax cuts to china
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Your linkage of tax cuts to American business (which I haven't actually argued for) resulting in money going to China is laughable. It's the kind of logic a 12 year old might use, and a remarkably slow one at that.
Find, lets -raise- taxes on companies. How many U.S. companies will choose to relocate their headquarters outside of the U.S. once you do that? Are you going to put a gun to their heads and force them to stay?
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 12 year old.
YOU’RE THE ONE WHO IS WRONG.

cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway So, in Zach's world, American's shouldn't be able to choose to buy products from China if that is what they want. What other decisions would you like to make for the American people? Sounds rather like a fascist state to me.

cartman1492 3 months ago
You don't know left for right.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway My SAT scores were good enough to get me in a top Engineering School with a vastly more difficult curriculum than any education school in America (look it up, Ed. Majors consistently fall in the bottom quintile of SAT scores).
Nazism, i.e. National Socialism was simply Communism with the international aspect removed and strong nationalism inserted in it's place. In fact, American progressives were most impressed with Mussolini's Italian model in the 1930 and praised it greatly.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway BTW, if you doubt my SAT scores we could delve into Partial Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, or Multivariable Calculus if you like.

zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway BTW, the idea that Fascism and Communism were polar opposites was an idea that was coined by the Communist to obfuscate how similar the two systems actually were. Are you aware that Stalin branded Leon Trotsky a "Fascist" when he broke with Stalin? Surely no one would call Trotsky a Fascist now. And the Communist in Germany used to have a saying "first brown (as in shirts), then red", in other words they believed that the Nazis were kindred and would be converted to "reds" easily.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 If you read the communist manifesto and compare it to what Mussolini tried to do in Italy. They are night and day different. Ownership of a private company is not evident in a true communist country. In a fascist society it is much like America's stock market with much private ownership.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Mussolini started as, and remained in his own mind a Communist to the end. His only dispute with classical Marxism/Leninism was that he rejected the international aspect of Communist theory. True, he let some business stay nominally in private hands, but they made product and paid wages according to government dictate, so they were private in name only. And, he nationalized many industries from the late 1920's on. Hitler followed the same model but he added in a racial element.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 Mussolini defined Fascism. There is even a movie called Mussolini and Italian fascism. It's on NETFLIX.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Finally we agree on something. Mussolini defined Fascism. In fact he coined the term. Mussolini started as a Communist, but later rejected the internationalism of Marxism as unworkable, so he formed a new system based on the ideas he had embraced as a dedicated Communist with one twist, his version of Communism would not reject the nation-state but would instead promote a strong sense of nationalist sentiment while retaining most of Marx's core ideas.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 I have read a book claiming the same thing as you are. That fascism and communism are similar. I disagreed with it whole heartedly. There are more scholars that agree with my point of view than yours. I would like you to give me one example of Hitler demonstrating Socialist or Communist principals in Germany.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Yes, there are more scholars currently that disagree on the similarities between Communism and Fascism. However, it is undeniable that most of the academy is on the left end of the spectrum and they have a vested interest in denying that Communism and Fascism shared much in common. However, this idea is beginning to gain ground.
But lets face it, in practice both systems were simply dictatorships and ideology was of minor concern ultimately to each.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway Ding Ding Ding!!!! We have a winner! A government employee, the only other class of people that would like to see everyone's taxes go up!!! Sure, double your taxes. Naturally you figure that after everyone else's taxes are doubled your salary and benefits will increase in a manner more than adequate to offset the increase. Dammit, government employee was my second choice! Well, you can't win'em all. It really is disturbing that someone so stupid is teaching 8th graders though.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@cartman1492 WRONG. I work for a private school idiot. Your whole statement is false.
zacharykelway 3 months ago
@zacharykelway I don't believe you. Someone that is so enamored of the government can only work in a government school. Why, you wouldn't be true to your team otherwise. No, definitely a government employee. That explains the undying faith that the government is all wise and knowing. And besides, no private school I've ever seen would hire someone so stupid.
cartman1492 3 months ago
@zacharykelway BTW, you asked what's the worse the government can do with our tax money then you name two arguably noble things. What a strawman. The worse they can do is blow it on boondoggles like Solyndra (about half a billion there) which return nothing of value to the taxpayer. Actually, they can do even worse, they can create counter productive programs which act as actual brakes on the economy.
cartman1492 3 months ago
