the 80's were the time of my life! i was ten years old when this movie came out! God bless anyone from that era growing up and is alive today to look back. Be glad my peers, because at least we had a childhood. Kids today grow up too fast and die young missing the good of life. i won't be sad when i die, because from then to now,i got to see it all and do it all.
Gotta LOVE the 80's!! The Hip Hop culture was so new & raw in the 80's, an excellent decade for innovation in Music. I'm just glad I was a teen in the 80's to experience All the different genres of music, dance, music videos & movies. This clip brings back good memories.
Am I the only one, or does anyone else hear this song and think of this part in the movie? I’m so glad that all my teen years were in the 80s. The experiences and the music, GOD bless the 80s…
@wmadoro this song was also used in the tv show, With out a trace, about the young boy learning to be a dancer and his brother ends up killing him, sad eps, but the music was great,
This was on my Tracy Kessler Campbell playlist, that channel was accidentally released from my access. My new channel is called lov1nmybab1es<3 Wow I'm still loving this movie in 2011!!
I would respectfully suggest, this film played a role in the indoctrination of the "Down-Low" brother. That and of course, the delusion that urban-black culture existed at KOA Campgrounds. The only folks I've ever witnessed at KOA locations, were white-ass bitches like me. Whatever.
man i loved this movie...80's were fkn sick man! ahh memories ...days when my bros and i were doing head spins, helicopters, worms ( or it is caterpiller? )lol ..and me trying and breaking my neck! lol
i'm 43, white, and a metal head..but back in '84 i breakdanced..and this was my FAVORITE movie....still love it today...got the dvd....brings me back to sweeter days.
@BigOldMrKnish lovely bottom. Wld like to have her lie face down in a field, and i'd put a hard boiled egg on her ass, cover it it with pepper, and then eat it...sorry did i say that out loud ?
hi this marie montoya garcia it may seem funny but as age now i was told that a person in this movie that named mark montoya is my borther my dads name is abie montoya if this is you mark im your sister
I was stationed in Okinawa back in 1984. Friend of mine from NY named Mercer used to mix this song in a club in Kin ville. AND I had a brief hook-up with a girl in the Navy that was stationed at Totsuka Naval Radio Transmitting Facility that looked just like the girl in this vid! Smokin hot!
Wish I had a time machine, just to witness that time again.
Moms took me and my little sis to the hood theater to see this. This montage scene is actually pivotal to the 'plot'. Boogaloo Shrimp was no definitely no thespian; but, Chaka's dope tune makes you forget.
even with out ipads, smart phones, internet, bluray disc, fancy cars etc the 80's are still better.everyone enjoyed life for what it was now everyone is on the damn cellphones ganing weight..we dont even need to get up our asses to deposit money, just take a picture..LAME'...
@ModGyver I agree, well said. And the dancers from that time period had to work twice as hard as nowadays. Because then Breakin, Poppin, Lockin, etc. wasn't that developed as now. Everything had yet to be invented. As a kid, you had to learn via a videorecorder. Fast Forward/Reward demolishing the vunerable heads of the VCR. Now you have YouTube, SYTYCD, ABDC, a danceschool in every major city offering hiphop classes. Back then streetDANCE was real street because ballet was too expensive.
@Skaz32225 for sure i was a bboy from 92 to 2002 and it was hard for us, cant imagine in the 80's although my uncle did breakdance in 80's and has all kinds of pictures..i also did alot of graffiti my self and to have fat or skiny tips for the cans was like christmass, now you just order them..i agree with you too..
Was worth the many trips to the ER trying to copy the dances in this movie, Beat Street and The Pilot (if anyone remembers that one), the bike tricks in RAD and BMX Bandits, the fight scenes in the American Ninja movies, or the Superfly Snuka Splashes and Macho Man Flying Elbow Drops from the WWF. Good times, good times the 80's were.
@SnakeMan227 I know all to well... I raced BMX from '83 to around '88, and I was getting busted up or stitched up almost monthly. I had so many of each, I literally lost track of the count by the time I was 18. I feel them all these days, though! LOL!
Electro Rock dusted Turbo and Ozone in both battles. It was bad enough that Ozone, trying to get some white girl booty, brought a ballet dancer to a break battle....but if you think about it they bit Electro Rocks idea of bringing in a female. Speical K didn't even break during the second battle, she just did ballet flips. Electro destroyed Turbo and Ozone!! I want a re-decision!!
omg... i just found and bought those shoes at 1:38. they were at the back of the store under a pile of stuff and i when i saw them i just HAD TO HAVE THEM!!! they're so great!!!
It was funny how Kelly and Ozone was getting all hot and bothered and Turbo's still breakin' and shit! If I were Ozone I would have sent his ass to the store or something. So that I could funktify the room with Kelly...LOL
Shabadoo! Oh YEEEES!!!!! Great Movie with Great Songs! Remember the first time I saw it in the theatre. Best to see on the big screen especially when the music breaks in! WOW! Luuuuv it!!!

@spurney68 Make that 30 yrs ago…I started when in jr high. MOST of the kids only do the Power Moves and do not have the nuances that really made this dance form an art. BUT some of the kids today are looking at all the clips and learning from their older uncles and in some cases DADS and are keeping the tradition alive!
Loved this movie when I saw it at the flicks. An age of laughs and innocence...taking me right back!
