@llewellyn51 thats simply non-factual. the drummer is al duncan, bass Milton Rector, Guitar Matt Murphy, keys either lafayette leake or billy emerson. i dunno where this "white pickup group" story started, not the first time i've heard it. its a chess house band of session players...great session players. check these guys out, have a look at their credits. "white beatnik boys"...what does that even mean if it was true?

The liner notes stated that he had to pause between riffs to spit blood into a can....the writer marvelled that he 'must have made a deal with the devil' to not have to take breaths while he played...

I first saw Sonny boy Williamson in the sixties at St Georges hall in Bradford UK and was amazed. He just sat there in the middle of the stage with his guitar and mouth organ, no fancy lighting or sound system. You could have heard a pin drop...fabulous.

Probably Booker T Jones or Steve Cropper didn't like this (yeah,it's a rip-off but who cared)

It's the other way around. Booker T ripped off the chord progression from Sonny Boy Williamson and sped it up for Green Onions in 1964.  Help Me was released in 1963. But everyone borrows from everyone else. Great artist aren't petty about these things. It's the suits that try to make many off these things.

This is my favorite harp tune by my favorite harp player ever! I play Chro harp, and ya, I dig junior and toots and all those cats, but I saw a vid where Sonny was playing a spent Diatonic. He got more out of that near dead harp than anyone could ever dream. This guy blows me away, wish I coulda seen him live, but I was 1 when he passed.
