With respect to your opinions, here's my take: I think there have been excellent (R) leaders-but the most recent was Eisenhower, and when you go 50 years without a decent leader, I think it makes you useless-but that doesn't support a 1 party system. It supports a government with several major parties, so if one becomes useless, it isn't that big a deal. As for Carter? I consider his infamous "sweater speech" an act of patriotism-he wanted energy independence. Cont.
After Carter, (R) held the Presidency for 12 years, and the resultant economy cost Bush 1 reelection. Same thing happened with Bush 2, but faster. You can question Carter's effectiveness in office, but not his dedication-he was negotiating to get the hostages back during Reagan's innauguration. Reagan formed a conservative coalition without which the GOP leadership might not cater to lunatics, so things might have been better if there was no Reagan and Carter was reelected.

I would love to see more tax breaks so companies can operate in the United States for less money. Our government is becoming tax happy and just like businesses, you and I will feel more of a pinch in the next year or so when our taxes go up and tax breaks go away. I think a better alternative is smaller govt. and less spending to keep taxes low.

Think about it as a bunch of people sitting in a circle throwing money into a kiddy-pool. Occasionally someone walks to the middle and takes some out. This only works if you have more money being thrown in. That means that the odds are already in your favor of being healthy or the insurance company wouldn't work to begin with.
I suggest a catastrophe insurance that everyone pays into. Yes it would be mandated but the premiums would be low and it would only cover major non-preventables.

You are correct about Eisenhower being the last superb GOP president, and I think the GOP's blind worship of Reagen is much to their detriment. Reagen was a wonderful charismatic leader, and did much good for the country, but he was not perfect. The Republican Party has shifted to the far right due to the Reagan inspired neo-con mvmt. It must return to the center-right if it seeks to remain relevant into the 2050's and beyond. Carter is a good man, but was not a good president, period.

This is not about democrats or republicans I can't comment on the hypocrisy of Newt. But I feel compelled to point out that before Glenn Beck started exposing Obama he was hated by the Republicans because he was exposing Bush. This is not about Bush being better than Obama or worse in anyway. The problem is that Bush did horrible things no one ( none of us the people ) wanted and Obama who campaigned on change is following in Bush's foot steps...

FDR was granted more powers than any other president. Nobody else has ever come close. When asked how the government should operate in fixing the great depression, FDR said "I would appreciate the same amount of power given to the president if the country were to be invaded." And then, seven years later, we were invaded! FDR was, without a doubt, the most powerful president in our entire history.

Okay, let me rephrase that: 80s=presidency, 90s=congress. You guys misunderstood me, but that's my fault (God, I sound like a Democrat). Regardless, if you're going to question my knowledge of politics, at least try to disprove my theory that the USA was better off with the conservative Republicans in charge than with the liberal Democrats. You can't disprove that theory because anybody with a fifth grade education can see that we are much worse off today than we were in the 80s and 90s.

The Republicans are a useless party? So what the Young Turks are saying is that we're much better off NOW with the liberal Democrats in charge than we were in the 80s and 90s when the conservative Republicans had the presidency and congress. Does anybody see the discrepancy in that??? All I have to say is that right now the Democrats are shaking like prostitutes in church, and I'm gonna laugh my ass off in November.

Newt Gingrich was a total failure as Speaker of the House. He wanted to shrink government, well now government is bigger than ever. Democrats got elected time and time again for 40 years, and Gingrich's republican revolution failed in 16 years when the republicans were thrown out in 2006. He would have accomplished more good policies if Senate republicans did not standd against the nations people by obstructing our government just like they rubber stamped everything for Bush. Now it is nothing for President Obama or for Americans who need help so desperately. Republicans stand against unemployment insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

Republicans really support those corporations and only those corporations. The shipping of jobs overseas started with Bush and continues with republicans against the country.

If they didn't ship jobs overseas everyone would be complaining about paying 10,000 dollars for a TV set. Jobs go overseas to save money. If people do not like that then more needs to be done to lower taxes to make corporations WANT to do business here by being profitable. If they are forced to stay here we will be complaining about high prices for goods that we can't afford.

@Dragonfly6160 They do not intentionally move overseas to exploit workers. They move jobs overseas to save money. Taxes have lots to do with it. If taxes were low and it was cheaper to do work here, why would businesses go overseas? Businesses are not exploiting workers overseas. No one FORCES them to work for the wages they do. Over regulation and high taxes drive business out of the country - not exploitation of low-wage workers.

In addition to that, U.S. corporations are hoarding a Trillion dollars in cash. When U.S. corporations move jobs overseas, it is about greed , not earning a decent profit.

@Dragonfly6160 Corporations can hoard money if they like. It is their money. You and I can do that too. It's called a savings account. Are we supposed to spend all of our money to boost the economy? They are in business to make money and there is no limit on how much they can make. They make a product for less and in return, you and I get to buy that product for less. If it were the other way around people would complain about paying $500 for a cheap cell phone and $15,000 for a HDTV.

@Dragonfly6160 I also want to say that I do not like it when jobs leave our shores, but businesses sometimes do that to save money when needed. I would love to see more tax breaks so companies can operate in the United States for less money. Our government is becoming tax happy and just like businesses, you and I will feel more of a pinch in the next year or so when our taxes go up and tax breaks go away. I think a better alternative is smaller govt. and less spending to keep taxes low.

Think about it as a bunch of people sitting in a circle throwing money into a kiddy-pool. Occasionally someone walks to the middle and takes some out. This only works if you have more money being thrown in. That means that the odds are already in your favor of being healthy or the insurance company wouldn't work to begin with.
I suggest a catastrophe insurance that everyone pays into. Yes it would be mandated but the premiums would be low and it would only cover major non-preventables.

Newt Gingrich is a smart man and I believe in his intelligence, but serving the needs of the republican ideology is more important than serving the needs of all the American people.

Milton Friedman is probably much more wise for not pursuing the office. He probably had no desire to do so.
Obama does not show much accomplishment, yet I admit that he is intelligent in the field of creating mass movements. Perhaps this could be called charisma.
Also, I think its funny that you insinuated that I am a racist white man who simply hates having a black "boss". First of all I am Obama's boss as a voter.
