I made the mermaid tail and its not hard to swim with. As long as you are able to swim with your legs together, it's not very hard.

Yes, you can swim with just regular flippers but I would have to say a monofin is faster. If you wanted to use regular flippers, I'm sure you would be able to cut the fabric to look like a mermaid tail instead of two flippers.

Yeah, I put my camera in an underwater camera bag and it doesn't fit perfectly. Thats why you see the black around the edges.
