this just seems really pointless to have a ride that goes 150mph then do nothing with it...TTD and KK are much shorter, but atleast you have a 420 or 450 ft drop to look forward to after the launch. after this launch, its much less exciting than alot of other rides ive been on.

Ok, it's the fastest roller coaster in the world. Yes it goes 149 mph. Besides going 149mph this ride is kind of a let down because it doesn't do anything special with that speed like shoot up in the air or something like that. It looks flat to me besides the speed.

There's no point of going about 150 MPH if you run it right into trims other than to set a record. If you're going to launch it into trims then maybe they should launch it just 80 MPH with no trims or don't make the trims as harsh. And coulda done a lot more with 150 MPH...

I went on it and I'm only 12. Freaking scary shit right there, but I was screaming in joy while the others where screaming in terror. It goes 240 KMH in only 4 seconds and it takes under 1 min. to finish the whole thing, hell I loved it. I actually went twice in a row. I stayed at this amazing place called Yas Island, Ferrari World was right next to it.

It's true that Cedar Point is somewhat overrated, but what is really nice is that they have such a wide variety of rides.

No other amusement park in the world has a hyper coaster, a giga coaster, AND a strata coaster.

Cedar Point also has spectacular scenery. The last time I rode Millennium Force, the view from the top reminded me of MYST.

One thing that Cedar Point DOES deserve critisism for, however, is not having an actual free-fall ride.

Maverick - Cedar Point; Can you honestly tell me you could not predict that heart-line roll might be taken at such speeds to incur neck injuries?

Maverick was originally designed for a new style of rolling stock (trains) that it didn't get in the end. The new trains have a high center of mass and seating position which causes greater lateral-Gs throughout the course. And I'm frustrated by it's 'visual security' OTSRs, but that's just me.

I305 was engineered fine if you're a real thrill seeker... People CAN in fact handle 3.5gs without greying out if they'd just stop screaming and breath!!!

"Shockwave" at Six Flags Great America, built in 1988, had a several problems involving components not being able to withstand the g-forces the ride dished out.

You can tell it was designed to run w/ less trims than that, the layout is clearly expecting an additional 20 or so mph.

This is probably the same issue that i305 has, melting wheels with the high speeds in the low curves.

Within two seconds you are travelling over 100kph (60mph for the US) In less than 5 seconds you are travelling 240kph (150 mph) and accelerating as you hit the first hill. As you come DOWN the first hill and ACCELERATE through the turn you end up coming off of the first hill and around the first corner at close to the top speed. Simple physics makes me wonder how you describe going from 150 mph to 80 in one second?????

@mattradovr6 It had to have trim brakes on the hill so that people wouldn't break their shoulders being flung upwards! The drop after the launch would get the train back over 100mph anyway. It would be extremely difficult to keep the ride at top speed for more than a few seconds.

The speed of the video looks like it might be a bit off to me. Check out the people at the end...one starts slow then looks to accelerate to a run for no reason while still seemingly in a walking position. I think the ride will look more exciting with a better POV.
