Watch the 2001 remake "Anne Frank,The whole Story" At least. The girl who played anne in the 2001 remake looked more like the real one. I think the girl's name is Hannah Taylor Gordon, Correct me if I'm wrong.

As for anyone foolish enough to claim Anne Frank did not exist, her existence and writings have been proved over and over in multiple countries in multiple courts. The arresting officer that took them from the annex was found years later, and willingly told the events of that day, down to the exact details of dumping Anne's case of papers and diary on the floor. That, and other details that more that corroborated Anne's life. They're just trolls making stuff up, riling people up for fun.

This was the first movie I saw about Anne Frank, and I truly loved it. Millie Perkins portrays Anne in almost a perfect way, putting out the fact that she doesn't look like her. And Peter was a little bit shy, and he didn't seemed like he was this opened to play around, especially with people seeing him, but at some point when he had enough confidence with Anne, I think this could have happened.

This film is from 1959! No movie at this time was very authentic.

I think it is one of the most moving and beautiful motion pictures ever made! A forgotten masterpiece (even if the story is not 1:1 to the original diary).

Even though you know the outcome, George Stevens created a very watchable film that holds your interest until the very end. The entire cast is first rate, even the unfairly maligned Millie. Young people should watch it for its treatment of coming of age issues as well as it's glimpse into the horrors of the Nazi scum.

A 21 year old Millie Perkins playing the 13 year old Anne Frank. And the guy from West Side Story playing Peter. Probably 2 of the worst mis - casts in the history of cinema. But this is Hollywood. They don't care the actors bear no resemblance to the people they play. They care about looks. I can't stand watching 30 seconds of this movie. It's such a disservice to Anne, imo.

Anne Frank: The Whole Story, which is on YouTube, is one of the best versions I've seen. True to the characters & story.

The actual Otto Frank met with Millie Perkins and approved of her. So, I think that's all that matters. As for Hollywood aiming at.. "looks", that's fairly debatable. Annelies Marie Frank was quite the looker, herself. She's certainly not an ugly duckling.

If you understand the historical POV about entertainment trends of the 1950s era, romanticism was THE Thing movies studious went with. Not just movies, but music. Television was at its infancy at the time. How many actresses aged 12-16 were prevalent at the time who not only coulod act but look like Anne.

@deelishAss one point youre also misunderstanding is how many studios, if there were a decent 12-16 yr old actress at the time, would allow such a young actress to portray a very serious role especially since WW2 happened only 14 yrs prior. I've seen the 2000 version and i liked it as well. But i also think it's not so bad to have THIS version as the adaptation of her emotional feelings as she starts to blossom into a woman & discover romance yet is trapped and isolated from society

50's version, PBS version, or the TV series. It doesn't really matter, no adaptation can exploit what truly happened for two years straight in the Annexe. While this may be a bit off of what the Diary was about, the "Anne" you're witnessing in this movie, is a representation of why she was never taken seriously. Anne's even described herself as having a dual personality; this being the one that was intended to show which took form in society. Her other remained dormant in the Diary.

Anne/margot: Disease (actually anne ALMOST made it, but she died about 1 or 2 weeks before her camp was liberated)

Mr vandaan: gas chamber

Mr frank lived through the camps and found her diary

Peter died when he was walking to another camp he was being sent to. from the cold anf lack of food. He ALMOST mae it as well, but didnt,

Otto Frank wrote most of diary. He's told several stories about how he got the diarly. She hated her mother, but I like the story too because it disproves the holocaust lie: 90 pound 13 yr old Anne Frank goes to Auschwitz, gets typhus, IS NOT GASSED (even tho 90 pnd 13yo girls w typhus cant be much good on the chain gang) is sent to germany to recover and keep her safe from rape by russians. what about spielberg's Schit List? no where to be found.
