Wow, this is an outcome I did not expect. This baby was perfectly fine (mentally) before the surgery. Something has happened and it is not good. Perhaps it is the medication that is the reason, but the child has changed. Just from these vids you can see that. I hope that she will be alright. I hope it is the meds that is causing this. In any case, these are brave and caring people to take care of a single human in this way. It exemplifies what being human really is.

I would never wish to be faced with a similar decision to make. Ultimately, I believe the people involved did their best and treated Manar and Islam with respect and love.

By going to Oprah and having that money, they will address this problem so that the hospital can continue to function and save innocent children. in the end you can't help but feel these type of surgeries might be a waste of resources that could be used to save people who actually have a chance to live on. Manar ended up dying months after this, and the doctors knew the entire time that she would most likely die shortly later even if the surgery succeeded.

@kevinklot Yes but you have to understand the reasoning; they have spent a lot of money on her, funds that could also save A LOT of other children (think of all the other sick kids). By going to Oprah and having that money, they will address this problem so that the hospital can continue to function and save innocent children. It is not going to hurt Manar (the fame) to make some money from her illness, if it means that it will save other children. I understand what the hospital did.

@jikadem Well, this baby died in 2008, from a brain infection. Now this is so rare, but there is change that if she were treated in the realm of western civilization - she would have stand a better chance. The most important is of course that abortion is practices on cases like this. No child should be born with this kind of conditions.

Where is the dad? This poor mother has gone through more shit in a two year period than most of us will have to in a lifetime. This situatuation has no doubt caused all sorts of hardship on this family and even their extended family members. I hope that they are finally finding as much peace as someone can in such terrible conditions. Thanx for posting the videos. They are gruesome but neccessary for us to see that life isn't as bad as we thought.

My stomach has been churning throughout this whole video. It makes me feel sick to know that this has happened, that they willinging killed a human being. Although I know it was the only way to save Monar. But poor Mona (Islaam) must have been scared, and holding onto the God that her family belives in in terror and fear, wishing for her sister again.

@ThePuppyLover13 that`s extremely unlikely. the Bengali boy`s twin was a lot smaller than Manar`s twin, therefore requiring less blood to be supplied by the heart. Manar`s heart on the other hand was already working so much over capacity that it had failed 6 times.

in the end you can't help but feel these type of surgeries might be a waste of resources that could be used to save people who actually have a chance to live on. Manar ended up dying months after this, and the doctors knew the entire time that she would most likely die shortly later even if the surgery succeeded.
