  • Now the commies are in power

  • Comment removed

  • They also showed "Reefer Madness" in schools and presented it as a documentary on marijuana.

The amount of propaganda we are exposed to, and the degree to which we all(myself included) are brainwashed, is astounding.

Ask any expert or knowledgeable person on the subject and they will tell you that none of this will do any good. In fact, you are better off getting instantly vaporized in the initial blast, than slowly killed by the fallout.

  • i cant belive they showed this to children haha crazzy

  • ahh kinda scary

  • lol

  • "If you'e not ready it coulod hurt you in different ways, it could knock you down or throw you against a tree or wall..."

...or it could vaporize you. Not to mention that radiation sickness is a bugger to recover from, kids...

  • burt the turtle only survived cuz he has a shell

  • If I ever see the flash, I'll make sure to cover myself with newspaper after jumping off my tractor.

  • Yeah right like I'm going to jump off of a moving tractor and almost get myself chopped...can't the people watching tell that everything was staged? Nobody is that fast at a reaction.

  • Someone dropped an atomic bomb on my neighborhood the other day. I ducked behind a cobweb and I was fine.

Looks like Patty banged her face pretty good on that wall, you can see it a lot better in the Weird Al video. I think she covered her head with her coat more to stem the blood flow than to protect herself from "burns." :(

I like how there isn't even a single implication that anyone could perhaps die, haha.

  • Only one thing was wrong...when a little girl ducks under her desk, she puts her hands on the top of her head, while the narrator tells to put your hands on the back of your neck.

  • LOL i watched this in history a few years ago

  • It is real. I saw this very film nearly 40 years ago, but the idea then was that fission weapons didn't have that kind of power. We stopped doing the drills a year later. Why? Well, we weren't told until much later that the weapons then were thermonukes, and then, the "drill" became: "See the flash? Kiss your keister bye-bye!", which still holds today.

  • This is w/o a doubt propoganda. Seriously, NEWSPAPERS? In reality, if those people ever saw the flash, they'd be dead before they even realized what they saw.

  • it's joke!!! it isn't possible this is real.

how the hell they think that this "fuck an cover" is useful. they think people are dumbasses?

  • It reminded me of the Upshot-Knothole Grable test, where you see the bus get blown away by the low yield explosion. Sure... you'll be safe...

Damn hypocrites. They invented it in the first place.

"Now, what kind of flash was the on at Hirosima?"

    "Without warning"

  • fires...cars....atombombs....wtf??? rofl

  • Okay, were these duck and cover videos just used to stop kids from getting scared?

  • People were scared of the commies in general during that time. This is purely propoganda used to spread fear of communitst and develop a sense of patriotisim within the youth. Also it conveys a message that the government will protect young people in the event that the commies attack. It was a more innocent time.

  • You think it's funny in regular form, my new friend Josh Way has posted a MST3K-style commentary on this and several other shorts. You can find the "Fun With Shorts" version of this video on the playlist to the right.

  • This video is so funny!

  • Very good!!! I love these things!
