Just for the record, I don't bear grudge against Russians, nor do I ever want to go to war against them. I don't even want the lost territories back (for the same reasons why Scania shouldn't be given back to Denmark). We Finns however take pride in the efforts our fathers made in preserving our freedom against a totalitarian aggressor - just like you take pride in your fathers' efforts in defeating another totalitarian aggressor!
Finland and Russia had good and friendly relations from 1944 to nowadays. Our countries have mutual economic and cultural intrests - and I don't see any reasons for hostility - not by Russian people toward Finland (and there is no such hostility) nor by Finnish people toward Russia. Soviet-Finnish War ended in 1944 you know, thats about 67 years ago - after that there was no war between our nations.
@Poiuppi We DO have a chance. Finland has been preparing for Russian invasion for last 60 years. We know their tactics and we master the conditions of our country. Of course Russia has huge resources, but we can inflict so much casualties for them that attacking Finland wouldn´t be profitable.
You forget one thing- Russia haven't even planned to invade Finland after WW2 and have no reason for that. May be just stop seeking enemies where they are not.

Soviet union couldn´t have accepted that because of the co-operation pact and they would have demanded military co-operation against west europe. Well....but what with the fact, that Soviet Union allowed Finland to retain it's independent and neutral government after WW2. Finland wasn't made a part of Soviet bloc, as were done with Eastern-Europe's satellite nations of Nazi Germany.

it was not the Finns who started the second war , the german troops based in Finland started the assault and the germans broadcast on the radio that Finland was declaring the war against the soviets with the germans and attacking them, of course after this madness the Finns really joined the war and started the attack, and as everything went well even after reaccuiring the lost land areas they kept on pushing and ..fucked up in the end and lost everything again.

Wasn't it more an allignment of convenience though? Both had the same enemy so it kind of made sense. Plus, Finland never accepted German policy or rule. As there were Jewish officers in Finland's army that refused to accept German military awards.

@doluss Purges in officer corps, bad decided doctrine and strategy, incompetent idiotic commanders(Voroshilov, Budonny and Meretskov) with very bad morale... that was real reasons of soviet fail in Finland.
For you it's very easy to say when you didn't loose important areas. When I read how Soviet Union got those areas after the Continuation War, it can't make me to love russian leaders. Stalin and Molotov told so much lies that it's even hard to imagine. USA, England, Norway, France etc. didn't want to give finnish land to Soviet Union after the war. England was the weakest protecter. How SU finally got it, that's shame on you. Return finnish areas and there won't be grudge.

it was not the Finns who started the second war , the german troops based in Finland started the assault and the germans broadcast on the radio that Finland was declaring the war against the soviets with the germans and attacking them, of course after this madness the Finns really joined the war and started the attack, and as everything went well even after reaccuiring the lost land areas they kept on pushing and ..fucked up in the end and lost everything again.

my grandbas two brothers died in Continuation War,but i dont hate russians becose of that.actually i am a communist and i am proud what lenin and stalin did to help russian people.in my opinion world would be a better place if soviet union would be still there.reasons:less crimes,very few poor people,rich would be poorer but not poor and the poor would be richer.people would live in balance,and unemployed would be less because people go to army as work.

-Ten million peasants were either imprisoned or killed which led to to a famine that killed five million people.

Wasn't it more an allignment of convenience though? Both had the same enemy so it kind of made sense. Plus, Finland never accepted German policy or rule. As there were Jewish officers in Finland's army that refused to accept German military awards.

@KevariGrazyInarista on kyllä muutama historian tunti jääny väliin. sillä ylivoimalla ei ole paljon väliä onko vähän heikentyny vai ei. suomalaiset ne kännissä oli kun kiljua ja vinaa kittasivat ja jos nyt ollaan ihan rehellisiä ni kyllä se oli ryssä joka turpiinsa sai ja huolella( varsinkin kun selvis et talvisodassa kuoli 100.000 ryssää enemmän)

@KevariGrazyInarista Totta: talvisodassa neukut saivat "rohkaisuryypyn" ennen rintama hyökkäystä. Stalin oli puhdistanut melko tarkasti kaikki sisällisodasta selvinneet kokeneet upseerit Puna Armeijan riveistä, ja tällä oli toden näköisesti vaikutus sodassa.
Mutta mitä tulee turpiin ottoon, niin 25000 kaatunutta vastaan 125000-miljoona kaatunutta on mielestäni aika selvä tapaus.
Suomi voitti sotilaallisesti, löylyytti puna armeijaa mielin määrin ja neukkujen poliitikot iski tikarilla selkään.

Soviet-Finnish War (as we call it) - well we lost more than 100 000 men KIA and more than 180 000 men wounded. These were simple young men, mostly peasants - they were just ordered into grinder (many generals and officers were executed or condemned to GULAG by monstrous NKVD chief Ezhov). So - may be stop the hatred towards each other and just remember those, who fought - both sides

For you it's very easy to say when you didn't loose important areas. When I read how Soviet Union got those areas after the Continuation War, it can't make me to love russian leaders. Stalin and Molotov told so much lies that it's even hard to imagine. USA, England, Norway, France etc. didn't want to give finnish land to Soviet Union after the war. England was the weakest protecter. How SU finally got it, that's shame on you. Return finnish areas and there won't be grudge.
