ALL Americans are now paying in HIDDEN TAXES the cost for medical care for the "UNINSURED" who must use the Emergency Room.
With President Obama's Health Plan ALL AMERICANS will be covered. These HIDDEN TAXES will disappear.
WHY is a ... "PUBLIC GOVERNMENT PLAN" ... good enough for all REPUBLICAN SENATORS in Congress ... but NOT good enough for ALL AMERICANS who choose this option over a Private Plan??
AGAIN we see the blatant REPUBLICAN LIES & HYPOCRISY !!
Places the INSURANCE COMPANY between YOU & YOUR DOCTOR. The Insurance Company DECIDES what treatment they will authorize & pay for ... or what claim they will deny & cancel the policy.
PUBLIC:
Your DOCTOR is the one who DECIDES what treatment YOU require. NO profit involved. NO more red tape. NO begging with Insurance Company for approval.
All SENATORS in Congress have a GOVERNMENT run PUBLIC PLAN !!
Republicans seem to use the "Americans want this...." and "Americans don't want that..." line quite often, huh. Instead of asking what Americans want, they're telling them what they want! But Republican supporters still roll over and play dead on command. Maybe Republican supporters like the concept of having people tell them what they like and telling them how to live their lives; they're anti-independence. Which is kind of the opposite of traditional right-wing politics. Odd, huh...
They had 8 years to do something. All we got was Bush's trillion dollar "senior prescription drug plan" ANOTHER REPUBLICAN ASS-LICKING GIVE-AWAY TO THE MULTI-NATIONAL CORPORATIONS.
Progressives -- its our turn. I think the American poeple are going to like having affordable haelth care coverage.
The government does THOUSANDS OF THINGS EXTREMELY EFFICIENTLY EVERY DAY. Corporations have proven to be competent at one thing only -- RAKING MONEY OFF THE TOP.
How reassuring to hear a government employee preach how inefficient they do business. Makes you wonder why this person is even on our tax dollar benefiting from government run health care. What a sham
I still think somebody should table a bill removing Senators and Representatives from public healthcare, forcing them to all go out and get private insurance. I'd just like to see a record of who's a hypocrite and who is not, on both sides of the debate.
But on face value, I have no respect for any congressman who trashes public healthcare while continuing to accept it. That's just a no-brainer.

I hope you do get single payer, I'm tired of Americans shouting how good single payer is, when its nowhere near as good as most people say. I live under single payer, and I hope you all go through the same crap we Canucks do just to teahc you all a lesson.
No existing model of health care is a good model, all have severe deficiencies. The key to fixing health care and making it really work for the people needs to be found and it isn't found in imitating half successes.
Try going without health insurance of any kind as my daughter , my wife and I have since I was laid off in November. Single payer sounds pretty good to me.
considering I haven't had a family doctor since 2002 and if I need help I have to go to a hospital emergency room or a walkin clinic (walkin clinics in downtown toronto close around 4pm, I get off at 5pm) its pretty much like having no health care here just the same as you in the states. We are both screwed. neither system is good enough for real people.
true our coverage isn't as bad as some of the ones in your country. In a situation like yours you would be better off in the Canadian system.
for example my brother had a sliding hernia on the weekend, but he neglected to renew his health card after it expired a few months back. waiting in the hospital and getting seen, including the morphine the put him on, only put him back around $250, and that is without any public subsidy. Maybe that is why so many of our doctors leave for America
Half of all bankruptcies in the U.S. are caused by medical bills. And worst of all, THREE QUARTERS of those bankrupted by medical bills HAD HEALTH INSURANCE! (Or so they THOUGHT!)

There are virtually no medical bankrupties in Canada. A few years ago my 70 year old mother in Canada fell and broke her pelvis. Was hospitalized for six months, including recovery and physiotherapy. She wasn't charged a penny.

STRIKING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN---PRIVATE & PUBLIC---HEALTH CARE:
PRIVATE:
Places the INSURANCE COMPANY between YOU & YOUR DOCTOR. The Insurance Company DECIDES what treatment they will authorize & pay for ... or what claim they will deny & cancel the policy.
PUBLIC:
Your DOCTOR is the one who DECIDES what treatment YOU require. NO profit involved. NO more red tape. NO begging with Insurance Company for approval.

Republicans don't need any stupid polls or the opinions of the American people! They know what we need and don't need and we should be thankful.
Just pitiful!

I love when people speak for ALL OF AMERICA..
Say, I for once.. not we.
-I- know that -I- want universal healthcare.. and -I- know that -I- want a public option...

Okay. Insert, "in my opinion.."

"I THINK the American people are going to like having affordable health care.."
That is what I THINK. Based on polls which show 70% of Americans support a public option.

Are you an elementary school teacher?
Its just the way you said "I just told a ____ to stop that.."
Or are you a self-appointed unpaid semantic police.

ever see the lines they have out there? Our doctor's offices will be filled.. Think about the pros and cons.
BullnBearAnalytics 2 years ago
yeah that would be a big con, all these people going to see the doctor who could not see them before.
mutiilation 2 years ago
yeah well for them that's great but for you you're just going to have to wait much longer lines.. who likes to wait long at the doctor's office?
BullnBearAnalytics 2 years ago
beats waiting at the emergency room
1samothrace77 2 years ago 2
I'd be willing to wait in longer lines if it meant that people no longer had to die from treatable ailments.

COBRA is a cruel sham for family coverage no?
Bunnicula71 2 years ago 2
At least in Canada you're not going to be financially RUINED if you have an accident with no or inadequate coverage.
The reality here is brutal dude. We get to wait in line AND get totally hosed on costs.
I'm not on the public dole, and I recently had a minor injury requiring stitches and having my nail pulled off, the bill : $1600
no ambulance, 10 minutes of a physician's time, and about 3 hours bleeding in an emergency room = $1600
What happens in Canada in that situation?
