is all the footage on 17mm=(27mm on 7D) ? am looking for an L wide angle for my 7D. do you recomend? i need it for landscapes now am stuck with my 24-70 and its limiting me on focal length...
@ANTRASPS3 If you want to go really wide on 7D you must go for Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM I had this lens for a couple of years on my 40D for landscape and it is extremely sharp ;)
why are people saying this lens is garbage on non full frame sensor cameras like the 7d? they say you can buy the 18-55 kit lens and you will get same quality? wtf?

Sadly, this potentially great camera was ruined by the marketing muppeteers at Canon who elected to cram too many megapixels on the small APS-C sensor, thus compromising the purity of the sensel signal.
If the 7D would have launched as a 10mp camera, the 7D would have been incredible. So close, yet so far.
SONY,Panasonic and JVC companys don't like videographers,they make HD camcorder for rich people.Why they don't make a 1/2 3CCD Shoulder Mount HD camcorder and record on a cheap media card around $6,000.00 dollars, but not, all that 6k to 8k camcorder come whit a stupid 1/3 3CCD chip. I make videos for living. This is one of the best HD video footage I see in Youtube and is NOT come from a camcorder but a DAMM photographer camera.
I wonder if the panavision cameras have an internal stereo mic too? The camera is for recording IMAGES and VIDEO. Use an audio recorder for AUDIO. If you're expecting great audio from a CAMERA, you probably shouldn't be posting comments here.
Yes, that's right. And you can't fly to the moon with your car. For the next blockbuster is would recommend a panavison. But the 7D is a consumer digicam with video capabilities. And i don't think that the average user will use an audio recorder on the next holiday with his wife ;-)

Okay dumb question probably.. But the EF 17-40 f4 L.. Does that mean f1.4? Or f4.0 ? I'm confused..

Sure. It makes nice videos. But what about the sound. As i understand it comes with an external mic jack. But does it have an internal stereo mic?

I have the 7D. You do not want to use the internal mic. It has one and works fine if you're up close to the camera, but you'll want a separate mic.
I have a $150 rode mic that works really well with it.
