  • lol you are using a mouse and keyboard anyone can hear the sound of that xD

  • @doom12344

And what reason would exist for me to lie about it? I'm pretty sure that sound is me flicking the analogue sticks side to side on the controller, which came with my PS3, which I bought from Harvey Norman in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. I bought GTA IV from Target in the same town, the day it came out, for $78 (Australian currency).

The cable I got to use it on my monitor is a Mayflash PS3/Wii > VGA cable which I no longer use as I have since bought a 32" Sony Bravia.

  • @joshuamcmillan sounds like a click a mouse, don't mean to offend but is very weird i know how the analogue stick sounds but i could be wrong.

  • @doom12344

    You are :)

  • dude should i buy lcd or led tv for play games?? and 22'' isnt small?????? what you think

  • lol fcurse this is computer, look at the graphic and i heard how you pressing the keyboard

  • @velikij100

Look at the date of the video you fool, the computer version wasn't out.

  • @joshuamcmillan pc version was 4.30. 2008

  • @velikij100

Oh. Well your still wrong, I've never played nor owned the PC version. The noises you can hear is the analogue stick going side to side..... why would I lie anyway? It's not like it's a big thing using a PS3 on a monitor, when I made this video it was to be using it on one without HDCP... but the cables for it are $30 on eBay now anyway.

  • @joshuamcmillan look at the pedestrian crossing on ps3 its not so distinct but its blurred and why its video blurred too at some moments?

  • @velikij100

This video is blurred because of the camera being out of focus. Look at the 3 cables coming out of the monitor, one is Power, one is DVI to computer, and one is VGA to the PS3. I don't know why you think I would lie, but its annoying me. Now I play PS3 on my Sony HD TV using HDMI, but it was before I had that when I used to use the PS3 > VGA cable. Search eBay if you don't think they exist....

  • i need help, would this method work with a hdmi to vga cable?

  • thats in computer...sucker

  • @mrbasel21, ... Look at the date, computer version wasn't even out at that time. Idiot!

  • @joshuamcmillan 3:10 : burnout!!!

  • @joshuamcmillan >>>>iam so so sorry man....please frogive me

  • Hello, do you recommend that cable to me? I've heard many bad and good reviews on it. But I think some people are to stupid to adjust their display settings and that's why many complain about it displaying horribly. I have the same problem as you did. My 22'' monitor goes up to 1680x1050 but has no HDCP. Please reply as soon as possible.

  • @risingphoenix86

I would recommend the cable if getting a HDCP monitor is not an option, but sometimes my screen flicks black for a couple seconds like other people have said (mind didn't do it for years, but does now)... but only once every 5 or so hours of play, and it's for like 2 seconds.

  • @joshuamcmillan Thank you so much! I will probably spend my money on a new HDCP monitor. They're getting pretty cheap these days.

  • we cant see it good

  • So,the quality is good? Does the screen go black from time to time?

  • Gta 4 is the shit. Nice monitor also :)

  • awesome game

  • can you watch blu ray movies via this cable ?

  • But vga is analog and dvi/hdmi is digital so if you use a vga connection wont the picture quality be downgraded? (less vivid colours etc.)

  • hi ihhave a hp w207 do u know if it will work it also has hdcp or what ever it is please reply

  • @BilalTech

This is for if it does NOT have HDCP. If it does, buy a HDMI to DVI adapter.

  • @joshuamcmillan Thanks

  • i heard that if you do a hdmi/dvi input with the ps3, you get like a 2 second lag. is this true?

  • @PCDTSME

Well, I'm not using that.. but no, that isn't true.. it's a direct input.. if someone was getting 2 sec lag it's because of a crap monitor I would assume

  • oh and i have an hp w1907 which is hp 19" hd lcd it has a dvi port in the back of it

  • @coolsk8er465

Xbox 360 doesn't matter as much as they don't have HDMI.. Do you have a VGA port at the back as well? You should just be able to buy and xbox to VGA cable and it'll work well, and if you don't have VGA buy a VGA to DVI adapter as well.

  • @joshuamcmillan yeah i have both dvi and vga i heard dvi is much better graphics

  • @joshuamcmillan The newer xbox 360's have hdmi out, and elites have always had them.

  • please reply

does it really matter what cable u get

i have an xbox 360 i want to know please which cable i should get

  • I have a Yakumo display without HDCP. I need somehow a switch or something?

  • hey is that the camera or do i see white spots on top of the monitor like white lines i mean

  • @DOMIZER

Yeah they are little white lines. Doesn't really worry me and I think it's the monitor as I've put the cable on an Asus 22" and it didn't do it.

  • dude could you plz send me a link on the cable you using , and are you playing in 720 p? thanks dude

  • @DOMIZER

It's just a mayflash ps3 vga cable, try eBay or something? Yeah I'm playing in 720p, it'll run in 1080, but 720p looks better on MY monitor.

  • @joshuamcmillan do you know any retail stores that sell them , if not aside from ebay what online store did you buy it from

  • @DOMIZER

No I do not. Mine came from eBay.

  • @joshuamcmillan thank you very much for the reply it was very helpful

  • thoes 18'' supports 1080p ?

  • i just ordered that Cable after watching this video only cost 35$ :D

  • Can this cable support up to 1080p? i have a 1080p monitor

  • @iMarioZz

    Yes I think so.

  • @joshuamcmillan yes it can, but most PS3 Games only go to 720p. So it wont do too much good.

  • @iMarioZz Video games don't use hdcp, only movies and tv shows us hdcp.you can record hd video of your games if you can find a device that records hd.Also yes vga cables supports 1080p,but the colors are a little bit better in hdmi, and hdmi also has digital audio.I use cga,and optical cable, optical is the best audio.Hdmi is the best video.

  • @Keepskatin actually hdmi has better audio too, because hdmi can output 7.1 Lineal PCM(or in other way a 7.1 sound without compression and lossless)

  • @iMarioZz I cannot get 1080p from this cable on my monitor. Only 1080i. (Althou the box does say it supports 1080p)

    Maybe you'll have better luck

  • also can i use a normal pc tft monitor which is 17 inch, thats got no 1080p support? The monitor is like 5 yrs old. Quite old. But if i use a DVI-D to HDMI Cable to connet the ps3 to the monitor will it work?

  • @skyline25160

The DVI-D to HDMI cable requires the monitor to have HDCP, so if it does, it should be fine (because you can use 720p).... but I doubt it will, if it doesn't, you'll have to use a cable like mine.

  • @joshuamcmillan is the cable called Playstation 3 Vga Monitor Cable Lead

  • @skyline25160

    Sounds right..

  • @joshuamcmillan thanks.

  • @skyline25160 you can play video games with your dvi to hdmi adapter cable, but if you try to play hd movies,it will say hdcp secure link not found.

  • @Keepskatin @skyline25160 Just to confirm - You CANNOT use a dvi to hdmi adapter cable with a ps3 if your monitor does not support hdcp.

The ps3 USES HDCP CONSTANTLY, even when playing games (no. not just for bd movies)

    (I made this mistake)

When buying a monitor for your ps3 & planning to use an hdmi to dvi adapter make sure the monitor supports hdcp.

I have since switched to using the mayflash that the op mentions. This suffers from brightness problems where light grey tones appear full white

  • @propuke thanks

  • do ps3 games lag when you use it on a normal tv?

  • @skyline25160

No, and they don't lag on this either. ANY lag you can see, is because of the camera I used.

  • @joshuamcmillan thanks for replying.

  • why is it looking laggy ? :S is it ur camera bro?

  • @Keidoupe

    Yeah it's the camera

  • hey, i got HD on my monitor, and when i did the automatic custom HD thing it came up with 1080i, although it let me switch to 1080p, am i actually playing in 1080p or is it just screwing me over?

  • bored of this game

  • Hi! I have a PC Monitor without HDCP and no DVI input, will I be able to play on my screen with this cable? Thanks!

  • @maniac612

    I guess so

  • @maniac612 no it wont work you need another adapter let me know if you need to know which one

  • @Notownsoad oops wrong reply sorry dude

  • It works fine. The problem is that every 5 - 10 minutes the screen flashes black for 2 seconds and there doesn't appear to be a way to fix it. If you can deal with constant interruption then it's great.

  • @Jacoustical.. Mine never flashed black on PS3 OR Wii. My brother got one for his Wii and it flashed black on Wii only, not PS3. So we swapped (as I hardly ever use my Wii).. It seems like it's a common problem with them, I guess I was lucky,

  • K looked at all the reviews and bought one of these for my ps3. Using a old viewsonic va902b. You must use the green connector on your old tv and change the setting to 480p. Only check 480p for now. (You can probably go higher later. Notice it a bit blurry but not too bad.) Then connect the vga to your lcd monitor. You should get a picture after that. I also notice that the picture flickers once and awhile. Not sure if there is a solution. It could be the frequency on your monitor.

  • dude, im thinking of getting this one problem i have is that. I had my heaphones and snipped the end of them, and now its stuck in my pc, at the front of my drive. I can't get it out tried taking apart but i think i will need to send it back. Well, seeing as that is blocked no sound comes from my speakers, idk why. IF nos ound is coming from speakers if i got these VGA cables for my ps3, and hooked it up to speakers will sound come through?

  • I don't know what you're talking about

  • now got this cable and it works great 100 time better than a standard tv

  • is there anywere u can get a vga lead for ps3 or somthing on tha line in shops an retails ?

  • not that I know of.

  • This video is fake I think, because his monitor has a DVI-port, not only that but the cords that are plugged into his monitor do not look anything like mayflashes vga cord, google it if you dont believe me you can see the no pieces are round, also he has a cord running from the DVI-port, and VGA port why?

  • lol. DVI port does not mean it has HDCP. My computer is plugged into the DVI plug at the same time as my PS3 is plugged into VGA, this monitor has both ports. I can swap between VGA and DVI (PS3 and computer) by pressing a button. That cylinder piece on one of the cables is the DVI one going to my computer, the other one is the VGA. Think, what possible reason in the world is there for me to fake this? You obviously know that the cable exists so why would I bother making a fake video of it?

  • I can't play dvds with that cable :( i think they are scaled to sdtv resolution and my screen says 'out of range' .. What can I do to play dvds on 720p? Btw 720p is the only working resolution..

  • I got the ASUS 24" LCD supports 1080p the only time I get blackouts is when I start/exit games, movies and apps it's because some games don't support 1080p so the ps3 has to pick the best resalution the game supports.

  • I've got that cable today, Setup took me 10 minutes. It has a great quality on my 19" widescreen tft! The resolution I use is 720p.

I also connected my speakers and the audio quality is also great.

The only problem I have is that the screen turns black for 2 seconds every 3 minutes but it's ok. Much better than that old cheap small tv :D

  • You need to change your pc settings.

Go onto control panel, and then appearence then change the time for how logn uw ant it to go black mines on like 9999 minutes ;) this may help i don't know :(

  • i just got thecable and when i connect it my computer says mode not supported ??

  • I wish I could use my laptop as a ps3 monitor but I can't

  • im planning to buy this cable and i know this might be a real stupid question but will it work with ANY non hdcp monitor and will it give out actual HD 1080p quality?

  • It should display on any monitor, but you can choose from 480p,720p or 1080p, so if your monitor would look bad displaying in those, then I wouldn't recommended it. I use mine in 720p, and it looks GREAT, better then it does in 1080p even though the native resolution is 1680x1050

  • Hi, I'm planning to buy that cable.. But I've seen that the screen turns black for up to 2 seconds when there are fast color changes/movements in some videos on youtube... Can you confirm that ?

BTW: I want to play PS3 on my 19" wide screen Bilinea TFT without hdcp.

    Thanks

  • The screen only ever turns black for me during loading. I've played Motorstorm, Fallout3, GTA4, Uncharted 1 and 2, Devil May Cry 4, GH3 & World Tour, COD4, GOW Collection and blue ray movies and have never had any black outs during actual gameplay or videos.

  • Nice :) You saved my day ^^ cuz I play COD MW2 and Uncharted 2 24/7

  • hey does this have any female end vga connectors that come with it? im about to purchase one but i wanted to know if i can plug my VGA end from my monitor into the cord because i have an older monitor with no VGA inputs in the back

  • Yeah it comes with an adapter TO use it on an LCD, so on your monitor you should just be able to plug it straight in

  • nice, thanks. i bought a female/female adapter just in case before i read this reply, lol.

  • what is HDCp ?

  • High Definition Content Protection. Most monitors now days have it, but when I got mine it costed a fair bit extra to get one with it. You can't use a HDMI to DVI converter WITHOUT a hdcp monitor, otherwise I would because it would be cheaper and better. This cable costs $50+, a DVI one costs like $10.

  • your

so lucky :) i try it many it can't work :(

i wish can U make a demonstrate video

    it would be nice :)

  • Nice video. I'm getting a Mayflash cable soon and I have a 22" monitor at 1680x1050. I was under the impression that this is a 16:10 resolution that would cause the blackbars at the top and bottom. Can you confirm/deny this?

  • i have the same monitor fp222w

but cant work ... the screen turn Gery....

how to fix it ? im using hi

  • Did you do this:

    1. Plug it into a normal TV

    2. Tell it to output 720p and click test

    3. Unplug the cable from the back of the PS3 and plug the one coming from your monitor in.

    4. Confirm the 720p setting while it's displaying on your monitor.

  • can you tell me how to set the output to 720p? im using an old tv .. im using the red/yellow/white cable ....

  • When plugged into the old tv with red/yellow/white cable, go to display settings on the PS3, and change it to 720P then quickly plug it into the monitor (because it gives you 30 seconds to accept).

  • i tried it

    1. plug my ps3 to tv with RCA cable

    2. go display setting >component cable >? the PS3 wont let chose the 720p/1080p Can tell step by step how change it 720p using a RCA cable ? i just bought ps3 yesterday

  • On mine, I'm pretty sure I can just click component, then I can clicke right to go to the next screen with more options, then right again etc..

  • can you make a video how to do it please ?

  • I can't right now as it's 12:15, but send me a message and I will get you some good instructions tomorrow :)

  • thank you,,, :) take care

  • hi..i was wondering that if can my NORMAL TV support GTA 4 using a UV cable? i m not using any HDMI cable for this TV

  • I have a 22" screen but it is a bit blurry... how can I fix the problem??

  • What resolution are you using? Put it in 720p.

  • I'm using 720p and 1080i

  • ok.. thanks for the reply bro!

  • I also have this cable, connected in 17" samsung lcd monitor.. the picture suddenly cut out and it will appear again after a few seconds.. the graphics are also blurry and the white stuff is too bright.. if I buy a bigger lcd monitor, do you think it will solve the problem.?

  • dunno, it works very well on mine so maybe

  • hey, i recently bought this cable, and i dont kno how to make it work on my screen... can you plz help me. can you give me step by step instructions guiding me throughout?? plz and thnx

  • hey how good are the graphics??

  • very

  • thnx for the reply...

  • is everyting good, like the picture doesnt cut out or something?? and are white stuff blurry? like words and stuff, let me kno

  • Nope everything is nice and clear, nothing is blurry. The only problem I've had is sometimes the white stuff is too bright, but you can still read it easily and you mostly don't even notice it.

  • im guessing VGA is non HDCP. So, Is it still good sharpness and res? can you see little things in your HUD like ammo capacity etc? please reply fast.

  • Yeah it's great.. everything is nice, sharp and clear.... my monitor has aspect ratio of 16:10 and native res of 1680x1050 so 720p looks very good.

  • man sry to trouble u got 1 more query for u pls help me bro well i have a 8500gt graphics card with vga and dvi ports can i insert hdmi to dvi there to display to my monitor via cpu is it possible just wanderin i know i seem like noob but pls say wat u can

  • I don't think that will work. It is possible to play through you computer if you buy a TV Tuner card, but it will only be SD.

  • thanx mate for ur help

  • man will the vga cable work on my computer mine is 15" lcd monitor no hdcp i want a cheap solution pls help really appreciate

  • It will most likely work, but with a monitor that small you will probably have bits chopped off.

  • bro how did u connect it to the sound system ?

    plz relpy

  • I just plugged it into the back of my sub woofer.

  • my monitor 19" 1440x900 At me the image will be good?

  • camera lagging ?

  • yeah it was the camera.. there is no lag at all in real time.

  • Does it look good?

  • yes

  • Can you please record the video with a better camera? i really need to see the quality, buying the cable in 2 days.

  • hey this is awesome and they only cost 35$(cdn) i want to buy one of these cables but wanted to know what is the highest resolution it can handle? does it depend on my monitor or the cable can go all the way to 1080p?

  • yeah it does 1080p, but on my monitor 720p looked better.

  • My computer when i plugged the vga cable, it says imput not supported, what should i do?

  • Copied from a 1 year old comment on this video by me; "The setup involves The fact that on a normal tv it is in 571/480i, and monitors usually don't support this, so on a normal TV you have to tell it to output in 720p, then the screen goes black because normal TV's don't support this, then while it's black you have to unplug the normal TV's cable from the back, and plus the the from the monitor in, then click accept."

  • Can I unplug the whole thing (no more power) and bring my ps3 to the pc? Coz my pc is in my room and the tv is in the next room..

  • No you can't, but you can confirm it while the screen is black, (look how to confirm by chaning to something else, I think you just click right or something like that, then remember what to do). Once it's confirmed you can turn it off and move it, if you want to reset the display back to default hold the power button for a while when your turning it (just in case you get it stuck on one that won't work)

  • OMG, Thanks man, now I know what to do!! thanks.

    Love, ThisIsSmella!!

  • it looks good, WAAAYYYY better than my full hd tv who IS connected with HDMI cable....:S Does anyone know why my ps3 games look bad on my tv.. especially GTA 4 looks horrible.. It doesn't look sharp..

  • I am planning to play PS3 on my PC, but my I have VGA slot and not DVI slot... What should I do?? (DVI slot used to connect Monitor to CPU)

  • This adapter is a VGA Cable.. I use DVI to connect monitor to computer as well, and I have this in VGA.

  • Oh so you used a HDMI to DVI cable which is then connected to a dvi and vga adaptor??

  • nope, this mayflash cable just goes straight from component on the ps3 to VGA.

  • On other vids, the ps3 is mostly connected to HDMI to DVI cables... why is yours different??

  • Because my monitor doesn't have HDCP, so it wouldn't work with a HDMI to DVI converter...... If your's does have hdcp you might want to concider getting a hdmi to dvi adapter, and using vga for your computer?

  • Sorry but, where do I check??

  • Search the model of your Monitor into google and look for it (tell me the model if you can't find it anywhere)

  • Its acer ASL5100

  • That comes up as a model number of a computer when I search it in google. I need the model of your monitor.

  • Err... I think its

    Aspire L5100

  • Where did you get that number? It should say a model somewhere on the actual monitor... How old is it and what size is it?

  • All i can see on the monitor is P193w and the brand acer...

  • hey man... i have a samsung lcd 19'' monitor (932BWE model) but on the back it only has a RGB and a DVI dock... do you know if there´s a way to hook up my ps3 to it?

  • What type of RGB is it? Or do you mean it has a red, green and a blue plug on it (like component?)

  • get a hdmi to dvi adapter

  • You fool.. Like I'm sure has been said many times if you bothered to read before making a comment, hdmi to dvi adapter needs HDCP (high definition content protection).. the point of this video is to show that it's possible to use ps3 on a monitor without hdcp, and show a good way of doing it.

  • noob if u bothered to read HIS comment, then if he has a dvi dock it obviously supports HDCP

  • lol.. like I said.. fool.. if you think you know everything, you should know that because it has DVI doesn't mean it has HDCP... My monitor has DVI, and it's extremely common for a monitor with dvi to not have hdcp... so it's definitely doesn't "obviously support hdcp".. loser...

  • Exactly right

  • use a dvi to hdmi adapter

  • The only disadvantage I can think of is that it is slightly over bright. Never get a black screen. If you have a HDCP DVI monitor you don't need this cable, you can just buy a cheap HDMI to DVI converter, and it's better, and cheaper. You only need this cable if your monitor does NOT have HDCP.

  • I get overscan If I use HDMI-DVI cable on my HDCP monitor so it's no good.

  • Please define "overscan".

  • Overscan is extra image area around the four edges of a video image that is not normally seen by the viewer (also known as cut off).

  • Well it seems fine so far as I've seen, no black bars or cut off parts that I've noticed. Although I do run it in 720p, what did you use with ur hdmi to dvi converter.

  • I actually use HDMI to DVI cable instead of converter.

  • DUDE i want to ask u some thing ....... why is it lagging??? please tell me for the love of god.......

second .... wat do u think when u are playing on this monitor ... i can really say in this video .... is the graphics cool and good or no ?? please tell me
