I also remember the room that had the wilted flower in the middle of the floor, the "nice" room that had warm light coming in from the window, and the Eileen head room...scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it.
How about the room with skin on the bedfrane, the one with a ton of flesh (I refuse to call those "umbilical") cords, and the one with pieces suspended on a grate for no reason (where you hear a yelp after entering? And the one with the spiked trap?
@Gunner193 I loved St. Jerome's Hospital. It was my favorite location in the game. I do remember them. Really interesting, really bizarre places that seem to give off a sometimes subtle, sometimes gruesome depiction of things that were left unsaid.
I hate that hospital. Not because it's badly done, far from it, but because it's the only World that creeps me out (beside the Building World, but on a much larger scale).
As a novelization, "Introspection" (a very nice fanfic), says, it's kinda like a freak show to dissuade Henry by psychological means.
@Gunner193 I have not heard of this fic, though I must admit I rarely read fanfiction anymore. To be honest, one of the last fanfics I read was an amazing piece on Silent Hill 4 called "Atonement." Read it sometime, if you get the chance.
You hate the hospital because it creeps you out? If you ask me, that must mean Silent Hill is doing it's job right :P I did get the creeps a couple of times in the hospital and they were the only times I was every scared during the game.
@Gunner193 It's a fairly lengthy fic, but I think it's most definitely the read. It's a sequel to the original Silent Hill 4, in which Walter is revived and is given the chance to redeem himself for the things he had done while he was trying to complete the 21 Sacraments. I know, it sounds a little cheesy but it's well written, wonderfully paced, and the atmosphere is actually Silent Hill-ish. And one of the most astounding things about the story is how well it conveyed emotion. Great read.
@EverDownward Sounds nice. "He used Silent Hill to fuck others up, and now Silent Hill fucks HIM up." Is that the prospect, "viewing from the other side of the action"?
@Gunner193 Yeah, that sounds right. Walter, in a sense, becomes Silent Hill's direct target for destroying the lives of so many people. Because of this, Walter is the protagonist. I'd like to say more, but I don't want to spoil anything ;)
I will say this though, it's one thing to come across a piece of fanfiction that is well written; it's something else when that writer has intimate knowledge of the source material. This guy knew what he was writing about when he wrote the story.
@EverDownward As you said, it starts off as a bit of a crack fic. But even so, it's not much - you CAN take the humor parts at face value and they become a boost in the interpretation.
Empty places, weird puzzles, strange noises... It's all there. It's a really good job do far (I'm on chapter 6 now).

@EverDownward I'll give it a shot. Who knows, I may recommend it on TV Tropes if it's that good.
Actually, it's not that I hate the hospital. It's more of a love-hate relationship. And that's right, the dev team got that world spot-on.

Indeed well written; even the humorous parts at the beginning can be taken seriously if you look at them hard enough.
