Just finished this game. It gets a 10 in my book. This game is so much fun I can't wait to play it again. For anybody who doesn't like the Zelda series for whatever reason, please try this game. It is video game perfection. I say that with no ego, this game is scary good.
I give it a 8. the game has way to many boring parts to just drag the game on. I spent hours collecting stupid things like tear drops and song not fish. Also the lame stealth part of the game where you have no weapons and have to sneak around. this isnt splinter cell. I like games to be long but not when they have to fill the game with tedious task that are just frustrating and no fun to make it longer. Im 25 hours into the game and i honestly just want it to hurry up and end.

I agree with all this. I think skyward sword is a great game is almost all reviews are giving it 10's. But nothing, I repeat nothing, can be better than any of the elder scrolls games :)

You guys need to understand that pretty much all reviews are from people that play the game but don't play it for a long time and don't try out everything in the game in order to give it a fair review. If you know the whole game and played it for a long time, you can give a good review with a lot of information in my opinion. For me, I never read gamespot or ign reviews because they are just not accurate enough for me. It is for some people but not me. I usually read DSP or gametrailers reviews.

On Uncharted 3 (I have not played it owning a 360)... However you seem to think Sony paid gamespot to rank it a 9.0... yet most of its scores have been around that from other sites...
It is just the reviewer's preference... If he was really paid off by Sony I doubt that Infamous 2 and Ratchet and Clank All 4 one would recieve the scores they did. Further more I would assume they would pay him to rate it atleast 9.5...

First of all "rehash" is thrown at it kind of loosely. Zelda games vary by system it seems to a small degree. Another things it that Zelda fans are fans because in general the games are fun and they don't get old, especially when they change the forula just a little bit. Hell, I love Assassin's Creed and that has more rehashed stuff than any Zelda title.
Finally the controls. No other reviewer online had that problem. See the scores. Consistancy?

The Problem I have with McShea's review is not the score. It is the fact that he lacks integrity. He admits that he did not use the controller properly, but refuses to give the game a second look. He bashed the game based on his own user error. The gaming media is a joke...simple as that.

No new modes, spec ops is back, but not new, Campaign is intense, and MP has the same old. Its the same, Zelda atleast mixes things up!

he reviewed Limbo, Infamous 2, etc. but those did not fit your arguement...
On Uncharted 3 (I have not played it owning a 360)... However you seem to think Sony paid gamespot to rank it a 9.0... yet most of its scores have been around that from other sites...
It is just the reviewer's preference... If he was really paid off by Sony I doubt that Infamous 2 and Ratchet and Clank All 4 one would recieve the scores they did. Further more I would assume they would pay him to rate it atleast 9.5...

@ihmJr You may be right and I don't know about the paid off part of his video, but the rest of the points are valid. Madden 12 gets a 7.5....is it equal to Skyward Sword????? Hell no. GoldenEye 007 Reloaded is a RE-RE-REMADE game and gets a 9.0! That's right, the game was originally an N64 game, then remade on Wii and now Re made on PS3 and 360! 9.0 my ass! Most of the features that were fun in the original weren't even in the remakes! Give me a break!

Zelda got 7.5 for "rehash" and "poor controls"
First of all "rehash" is thrown at it kind of loosely. Zelda games vary by system it seems to a small degree. Another things it that Zelda fans are fans because in general the games are fun and they don't get old, especially when they change the forula just a little bit. Hell, I love Assassin's Creed and that has more rehashed stuff than any Zelda title.
Finally the controls. No other reviewer online had that problem. See the scores. Consistancy?

the score itself doesn't bother me. the fact that he gave it that score doesn't bother me.
the fact that he gave it that score based on his misunderstanding of the controls bothers me. his inconsistency throughout his review bothers me.
while i agree that something's amiss in his review, i don't think all the rage is neccessary. also, the fact that his is the only review listed on metacritic below an 8.0 (last i checked) kinda speaks for itself.

The Problem I have with McShea's review is not the score. It is the fact that he lacks integrity. He admits that he did not use the controller properly, but refuses to give the game a second look. He bashed the game based on his own user error. The gaming media is a joke...simple as that.

Im not saying give it a 10 but 7.5 is a clear message that this guy from his opening sarcastic remarks that he had a bone to pick with Zelda in general, Nintendo and how much he despises motion control. He needs to pick up his dual analogue controller sit by his PS3 and play some MW3 so we can no longer be subjected to any more unprofessional reviews.

@enigma1990 Exactly. Also the whole tired formula is bs. Let us put this in perspective, all games use a formula. CoD has a formula, but I would say that is more tired than Zelda/ Why? It is newer, but the problem is that CoD is released every year with out really anything new. Now I have enjoyed MW3, but to be honest, there is nothing new. No new modes, spec ops is back, but not new, Campaign is intense, and MP has the same old. Its the same, Zelda atleast mixes things up!

On another note: I just hope fans of Zelda (I mean perpetually hardcore ones) won't freak out about this and go "seppuku mode." Granted that I was pissed for hours that they gave such a highly anticipated and celebrated major 3D Zelda game a score like this, I cannot forgive Gamespot nor the reviewers anymore even since I remember that site when I first visited it back in 2003. Regardless, Skyward Sword needs a review replacement from there...a 9.5 would've been an idealistic approval.
