then the other men, then finally fill the host's glass last. If you forget which direction to walk just remember never walk behind the host (person who ordered it.) put them at ease. Be warm and enviting. Many ppl are uptight during wine service so I always ask the host if the bottle is a house or reasonable priced "Would you care to sample the wine first or would you prefer if served directly?" Many times I've heard "We're familiar with this wine, please serve, thank you".
They should've shown the presentation. Remove the foil while holding the bottle w/label facing the guest all the while the sleave is draped over left wrist. Put foil coin on table like a little cup. After opening place bottle on table while removing cork. Place cork lying down on top of "cup" w/vinyard's name facing guest. Take sleave off your wrist & hold in left hand, pour taster in guest's glass using sleave to prevent drops on table. serve wine ladies 1st counter clockwise, then other men..
jrubo82 has a good point, it's nice that people are helping each other free. And just because everything isn't done exactly right, doesn't mean they're done completely wrong. I think many people can learn much from these videos.
I think a lot of people have missed the point of this video. It's demonstrating how to open the bottle of wine, not present it. If you want to complain about her presentation of the wine to the customer why not watch the video where that actually happens? That way you can complain properly.
Actually the bottle should be set on a gueridon or the table and then the cork is removed. When the cork isremoved then you want to frame the bottle with your serviette. One should have their mise en place all set. Coasters, serviette, etc...
In Europe you see wine service done on a Gueridon more then you do in America.
I was in France visiting the vineyards this past year (Rully Village of Burgundy, Chino in Loire, and some really good times in the Gascony region. Love the Tannat grape) Our servers most definitely did rest the bottle on the table when a gueridon was not available.
Good job, Leslie. Your videos are very helpful.

You really shouldn't put the corkscrew in that much. You don't want it to go all the way through like she did, not the best video.

...and remember. Don't overfill the glasses. Half glass at the most depending on the glass...or less.
