i didn't hate ffxiii at all, i liked it alot, just it wasn't the hd ff we all wished for.... but the story was solid, the character designs were good and the battle system was alright, not the best but an improvement from ffxii.. and the enviroments looked amzing, too bad the level design was so linear that we couldn't reli explore them, i hope that's fixed in the sequel....
but overall ff13-2 cud be a great game, if they just fix a few things, but we'll see....

@HesDaryl Yeah they did take a little while but some times if you used auto-battle it's like you pretty much had a guaranteed win. I remember battling that one dragon creature aboard Cid's airship (the back-to-back battle one) and I just kept using auto-battle the entire time while going away from the TV to have dinner. Then, when I got back to the TV, I had just won the battle and my characters were still in very good condition. @_@
tired people dissing on 13 just because it changed, did not every previous FF game change its battle system for the most part to accompany new times and changes in a genre, changes to keep a game fresh, FF13's only flaw in my opinion was the lack of free open world exploration and side questing on the level of old FF games. The battle system, although taken for granted, was far greater then most people give it credit for, but so many were to lazy hitting "Auto" then finding the best way 2 use it
@oncura the battle system was fine. The story was awful, though, and needlessly repetitive - if you're going to have a game that's ENTIRELY linear, you don't need to fluff out the story everywhere. Stick it all at the beginning, middle, and end, and leave the gaming inbetween uncluttered with bad voice-acting.
@Wolfsrain90 I liked that it was difficult. The earliest games were impossible to win (tetris, pacman, games like that) then incredibly hard (like contra or the nes zelda) and over the years they keep getting easier and easier until you never die anywhere, it autosaves constantly, and there's no reason for you to be playing a game instead of watching a movie.
@tetryst You forgot Battletoads. And true, I like a challenge, but the system was somewhat ruined by how much of a suspension of disbelief it took. Not the powers themselves (it's a JRPG, so of course they are going to be fantastic and over-the-top), but that you could only control one character at a time, and should that character die, it's a game over. The paradigm shift system was interesting most of the time...so long as you didn't choose the wrong one and get one-hit lolpwned by the boss.
Final Fantasy XIII was the biggest piece of shit RPG I have ever had the misfortune of wasting my money on. Final Fantasy died with FFX. FFX was the last "real" FF game & everything else since then has been going straight downhill. I can't believe my favorite gaming franchise has turned into a total fucking joke.

I agree with you entirely. Not only that but the game's battle system was great, and it was the first FF game that, in my opinion, really focused on exploration and seeing what that vast world had to offer. The political narrative was astounding and really well woven into the character's (limited) backstories.
Also, come on, The Battle For Freedom has got to be one of the best FF boss songs ever.

Yes and yes. I like VII quite a bit, not a big fan of IX. In my opinion, I consider X and XII to be my favorites. FFX actually had quite a bit of side-games and an extremely in depth story. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the characters developed throughout the course of the game. Also, I liked how they actually explained a lot of the history of the world you are exploring. There is also the superior audio and graphics, but these only enhance the experience. And, I loved Blitzball.
Sorry for the double post, but I also wanted to explain why I enjoyed FFXII. I feel that FFXII had an extremely complex story, one that I think most fans don't take the time to truly appreciate. While I admit that it lacked in character depth, I feel that the characters were simply minor characters in the larger more political narrative. Some fans hate the political narrative, but I enjoyed it a lot, especially since it played on a lot of themes we can relate to, power, revenge, etc

Lightning has always been my favourite of the six. That armour she has on looks incredible... I can't wait for this sequel to be released, which is weird that it's actually happening but I'm not surprised since the story was SO phenomenal!

@speroangel: I loved the all the characters from Final Fantasy XIII. Lighting stood out just cause I love to see a girl who can kick ass just as much as a guy can. I mean I'm not complaining its all find and Dandy cause Noctis does look cool, it just amazes me the fan base he has and we know so little about him.

I agree with you entirely. Not only that but the game's battle system was great, and it was the first FF game that, in my opinion, really focused on exploration and seeing what that vast world had to offer. The political narrative was astounding and really well woven into the character's (limited) backstories.
Also, come on, The Battle For Freedom has got to be one of the best FF boss songs ever.

Ok all you FFVII fanboys. Yes, the game was good, but honestly you've gotta learn to move on. Ever since Final Fantasy has moved to the PS2, you people have been begging for a FFVII remake. You have 2 movies and Crisis Core based on FFVII, yet still the cry for a remake continues. It' sad actually because the majority of FFVII fanboys haven't even played the newer games, just because they aren't FFVII.
Stop living in 1997 and join the rest of the world in the modern era.

have you EVER played FFVII or FF IX AND: played one of the following games? have you ever FEEL the missing parts in ths games AFTER FF IX? it was full of sidegames, it was SO full of a story, i missed it in other FF´s, especially in XII AND XIII, i like to play FF XIII, don´t misunderstand me, but it´s not the same like ff7, NO WAY, ff7 and ff IX got soul, ff XIII have a nice gameplay, but it´s not the same, NO! WAY!

Yes and yes. I like VII quite a bit, not a big fan of IX. In my opinion, I consider X and XII to be my favorites. FFX actually had quite a bit of side-games and an extremely in depth story. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the characters developed throughout the course of the game. Also, I liked how they actually explained a lot of the history of the world you are exploring. There is also the superior audio and graphics, but these only enhance the experience. And, I loved Blitzball.

Sorry for the double post, but I also wanted to explain why I enjoyed FFXII. I feel that FFXII had an extremely complex story, one that I think most fans don't take the time to truly appreciate. While I admit that it lacked in character depth, I feel that the characters were simply minor characters in the larger more political narrative. Some fans hate the political narrative, but I enjoyed it a lot, especially since it played on a lot of themes we can relate to, power, revenge, etc

Lightning has always been my favourite of the six. That armour she has on looks incredible... I can't wait for this sequel to be released, which is weird that it's actually happening but I'm not surprised since the story was SO phenomenal!
Lets just hope it doesn't ruin how we feel about the story since it ended so well, that would be a shame.

@BigManInCanada Yeah, me too. I was so proud when I read the interviews about how Lightning was supposed to be more realistic and human and that her sex appeal was given to Fang. And now they just butchered that idea and stuck her in a stupid Yuna costume... I thought Lightning was sexy for her personality... I guess they will kill that too. Since they plan to do a huge overhaul on all the characters now.

@speroangel: I loved the all the characters from Final Fantasy XIII. Lighting stood out just cause I love to see a girl who can kick ass just as much as a guy can. But it surprises me just how much of a fan clue Noctis has when we know hardly nothing of his character, or what he is like. I mean I'm not complaining its all find and Dandy cause Noctis does look cool, it just amazes me the fan base he has and we know so little about him.

idk hopefully the fixed the retarded amount of simplicity. as for the story line, I actually liked it until after the first fight with barthandilus. it would've been fine if they ended it around there. it seems like they squeezed the last few chapters in to make it unnecessarily longer.

@LastFadingStory to me it seems like most people dont like it because it had a different style, which I dont see why because having something different should not be a bad thing. To me the story seemed great, the characters were good, the gameplay was ehh but I could get past it and enjoy the awesome boss battles. Explain to me why you didnt like it, Im curious

@F5Productions the game is not a final fantasy game without his "fanfare" music when you win a battle thats makes the game none final fantasy til 13 came out all of them has it in there even tho 12 was when you did a hunt or esper you still get it the game was too futuristic but i not saying the game sucked cause i beat it and liked it but just didnt felt like a FF game too me.

@F5Productions yeah i liked it and i am missing 1 trophy so thats how much i played it and i am lazy too farm for gil for the trophy and that another thing they left out earning gil after each fight it sucks x.x farming platinum ingot sucks i kill the things in like 2mins but the drop rate sucks.
