drummer couldve done better man.. he was too laid back.. all the love, but like do a bit of a triplet thing wouldve been better or just fkin CUT LOOSE yeah
Although I kinda like Jamie Cullum, he lacks almost everything Jeff Buckley used with ease. So it's not a fair comparasion JC will never be able to do much justice to this song. In fact no one in the world should try and record a Jeff Buckley tune!
I've listened to Jeff singing it several times but I still prefer Jamie's cover. "Tremolos" in Jeff's voice sound quite uncomfortable and old fashioned to me on this song.
Yeah, I just noticed that - "It's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon my shoulder" and so on is totally dropped. Unfortunately he doesn't have the range for this song, and the bridge (I agree, the most gripping part of the song) is left out. I don't know why he would do this.
hmm..... interesting how "music fans" can't appreciate an artist's interpretation of a great song. sad, actually. HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE JEFF BUCKLEY, HE'S JAMIE CULLUM!!!
If you like Jamie Cullum, then fine. But if you genuinely think he is as good as Jeff Buckley, you are an utter retard. Jeff sings every word from his soul. This fuckwit couldn't sing with less passion or feeling if he tried. He should concentrate on writing a song fractionally as good as this.
Someone who has the gall to call Cullum a "fuckwit" and says, "He should concentrate on writing a song fractionally as good as this" should, at minimum, learn the definition of "fractionally" before using the term.
Moreover, any clown who drinks rose ( fyi. correctly spelled rosé ), has so little taste in the finer things in life, they should refrain from commenting on music altogether.
@wildbunch I bet you felt very clever by correcting my spelling, didn't you? I suppose it's a necessary thing for someone as sad as you, to feel like you are serving a purpose, by being alive. What the fuck does my liking of rosé say about me, other than that I have a taste for it? That's fuck all, you pretentious twat. Moreover, any clown who thinks Jamie Cullum possesses even the most remote level of talent as the artists whose songs he's butchered, shouldn't be allowed to listen to music.
@wildbunch I thought I ought to point out to you, seeing as things such as wit and joking are evidently not your strong suit, I don't actually think that someone who considers this man to be talented should be banned from listenting to music. After all, I was brought up to respect others' opinions (however ridiculous said opinions might be). I just wanted to try and point out (if it wasn't already obvious) how stupid your post was.
@JG111088 have you heard the song gran torino which jamie wrote, i dont think its possible for anyone to sing with more passion than him when he sings that, i agree this version isnt as good as jeffs' but jamie has an amazing voice and always puts originality on his covers
Sorry, folks. Jamie has soooo much more grit and raw emotion in his voice. He sings all of the songs on Twentysomething with the same vocal dedication. He emotes intense feeling with every word. (Although this version, it seems, is a little different than the one on the album. I recommend listening to the Twentysomething version. It's even better.)
I tried listening to Buckley's version, but to me it just didn't compare to Jamie's. I love his voice and his amazing piano playing. It just adds to the song. Not to mention, it's the most beautiful song I've heard him sing live.
I told her myself and what do you know she loves me too. So all is well in the world today. Well atleast my small bubble. Can't speak for everyone else:)
With all due respect to Jamie Cullum, but it is not. The passion and the vocal range of Jeff Buckley is so outstanding. But I appreciate Jamie doing this great song so it won´t be forgotten.
@Ystorica you gotta realize, that whoever covers a song, does it out of respect, not to compare him/herself with the original performer.... so just chill... you should be happy that such a talented jazzist took the time to cover this song
People are acting like Jeff Buckley invented this song. Bitch, please.
