  • free willy is without any doubt the most beautiful soundtrack i have ever heard in my life!!!!

  • This man is GOD!!!!

  • Where are "Farewell to the King", or "Quigley Down Under"? Two Poledouri's great scores.

  • Where are "Farewell to the King", or "Quigley Down Under"? Two Poledouri's great scores.

  • Question but is there a james horner one?

  • Why no one mentioned Free Willy?

  • Red Dawn and Flight of the Intruder are his best IMO.

  • Klendathu drop= most epic sequence EVER!!11!

  • He should have won the Oscar for Robocop

  • Very talented composer but my favourite is Robocop Theme. I love magnificence of his music - so powerful and vital. : )

  • "Conan...what is best in life?"

  • @pheenix42 my score.

  • Conan the Barbarian = Basil Pouldouris's BEST!

Other great works is Robocop and Starship Troopers

  • I think Basil Poledouris was more better than John Williams. I know that Williams made a lot of famous music for many famous movies, but I personally feel Poledouris was the greatest.

  • Red Dawn movie and soundtrack fan for life!!!

  • Quigly Down Under was his greatest, in my humble opinion.

  • 2:12 sounds like starcraft

  • Thanks for putting this together- he did really make some epic soundtracks :)

  • Rest in piece ,Maestro.....btw of course Conan the Barbarian is the best ever ost, especialy The Orgy and Funeral Pyre

  • That song from It's my party really brings tears to my eyes.

  • I had no idea he had past. Such a great composer. My favorite, Lonesome Dove and Quiqley Down Under.

  • I always liked "The Kitchen/The Orgy" theme from "Conan the Barbarian" (1982). Truly Poledouris at his best.

    Robocop was great.

"Klendathu Drop" from Starship Troopers stands out in a movie with great music.

    R.I.P. Basil Poledouris

  • wt is the track of robocop??

  • So, Paul Verhoeven knew what he was doing...

  • the best is the starship troopers theme!!!

  • Farewell to the King and Lonesome Dove scores are amazing, but Klendathu Drop is the single best track by Poledouris in his whole career.

  • I always loved robocop, conan, and starship troopers soundtrack but never realized they were done by the same person. great upload thank you, I'm going to download these soundtracks :D

  • starship troopers st reminds me of robocop...he must have been inspired by the cover :D

  • Poledouris did some stunning work. Barbarian is certainly his best I think

  • Conan el barbaro primero, robocop y starship troopers segundo, y el resto es manjar para los oidos igual (conan the barbarian first, robocop and starship troopers second, but, the rest is still honey to my ears)

  • ROBOCOP SOUNDTRACK IS THE BEST

  • DUDE you put not that amazing soundtrack from "Hunt for the red october" there is amazing version in youtube which has 1million views. Starship troopers sountrack is amazing!

  • Klendathu Drop is the greatest song by Basil Poledouris

  • @SuperDeDooper1223

    Yes it is beyond epic.

  • amazing composer. my personal favorite is, of course, conan the barbarian. it really makes me feel like i'm riding across the plains with a sword straped across my back, ready to enact vengence.

  • The Best is Free Willy

  • @1978solaris

    Definitely. :D

  • COnan and Robocop best soudtrack of Poledouris

  • robocop,his best i think

  • He's good, just too bad he does so many crappy movies.

  • For me the best track of Conan is "The Orgy", "Riders of Doom" and the "Main Theme" also

  • @100000Bitches Check out my video if you want hear music from the movie on guitar! I do the main theme (soft part) and I'm working on Theology

  • Kazzokollos Sewerrobix Nospanish Misterking Khrogetone Autodark Florida Vueltypt Exoildred Dromoilex Wuzblade Maximillian Markimux The Return of Klauz and Shanquinthoe Himself

  • Whoo!

  • Both Conans (first part is the best soundtract ever) and Flesh+Blood - Poledouris knew how to make mighty music

  • Conan is great, but mine favourite Poledouris' score is "Farewell to the King". One of the most underrated and unknown movies. It has a nice heroic main title, but the heart of the score is the emotional theme, one of my three favourite themes ever. This theme was also arranged in "For Love of the Game" (see "Decision").

Also "Oh shit Scherzo" from "Breakdown" ( 1:45 ) is one of the best "Poledouris moments". You can really feel the situation of Kurt Russell.

  • I love it hes music is AWESOME Conan and Robocop still my fav movie soudtrack RIP

  • :'( R.I.P.

  • one of the best musician in soundtrack'movies

  • one of the best musician in soundtrack'movies

  • one of the greatest musicians on earth!

  • His Starship troopers soundtrack was the shit...

  • and The Blue Lagoon

  • A lot of my favorites are here, but I think the Quigley Down Under soudtrack to be number one. Didn't seem to be here though.

  • his best work was on the starship troopers soundtrack...

  • @michaelthegrey no..CONAN THE BARBARIAN!!!

  • hell yes!

  • did ya forget about Conan, seriously

  • The one theme that wasn't here was the music for Red Dawn, I love that music.

  • Where can I find the "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man" original score by Basil Poledouris?? help me,please!!!!

  • dammit i love free willy

  • He also composed Red Dawn!!

  • My favorite music was his on Big Wednesday. You can almosr feel the adventure

  • that harley davidson and the marlboro man one sounded good & (of course) conan's tracks are just EPIC..... damn and he also did the robocop tune! i need to hire this man to do a theme tune for me, is he still alive?

  • Nope, he died several years ago.

  • He died in 2006 :(

  • Lonesome Dove in my opinion is the greatest of his. I do really love the Les Miserables track as well.

  • He also made the music to RoboCop, I love the RoboCop theme.

  • My favorite was Les Miserables, the French morality drama.

  • He made that TOO? I liked him for Conan, but Les Miserables as well? Gotta love this guy! I watched the Les Mis musical here on youtube, nice songs there too.

  • Lonesome Dove and the Conan scores are some of my favorite music ever.

  • Don't forget---Lassie Come Home!

(I was shocked when I found out there was more than I Lassie!)

  • I was considering who will be doing the soundtrack for the upcoming Elric movie. Poledouris would have been the best if not only real choice.

  • his conan the barbarian soundtrack is one of my favorite albums, a true legend

  • I absolutely love the Starship Troopers score. I was unaware that he had done so many of these other classics though!

  • Smashing collection, as usual. Poledouris really knew how to do big, sweeping music. The piece from BIG WEDNESDAY, in particular, really stirs the senses (and inspired me to get the CD!).

Also, thanks for spotlighting two unsung favorites: CHERRY 2000 and HOT SHOTS! PART DEUX. Fine scores both.

  • Robocop, Conan the barbarian and free willy stand out for me.

  • where can i get the flesh+blood theme

  • Im a member on emusic and got it there for like .25...unfortunately membership fees have gone up but you can still get it for less than .50

  • why dont u just post it here

  • You don't think Quigley Down Under is a greatest hit?

  • Damm, I didn't know Basil had died..i'm so gutted.. His music from Conan was awe inspiring

  • Conan Barbarian is the best according to me! RIP Basil!

  • aw man, r. i. p. basil

  • I didn't realise how varied the movies Poledouris scored actually were. Lonesome Dove breathed new life and inspiration into the Western score and the themes and variations are genuinely memorable and moving. Personal favourites include Robocop (especillay the scene where he revisits his home) and Hunt for Red October, which would be hard to better for coral writing. Loved Poledouris' send-up of Goldsmith's Rambo music in Hot Shots Part Deux too. Poledouris is greatly missed.

  • I gotta say, les miserables is the best

  • No Total Recall?

  • Total Recall score is by Jerry Goldsmith.. unless there was a rejected version by Poledouris that I'm not aware of..

  • The main theme of total recall steals from the main theme of conan. listen to it if you ever get the chance.

  • acceptthis01, maybe Total Recall was temp tracked with the Conan the Barbarian score. Goldsmith's main theme does sound remarkably like Poledouris's for Conan. After the starting credits Goldsmith pretty much abandons the main theme so he may have been asked by Paul Verhoeven to write something similar to Conan's main theme.

  • Free Willy 2 and Blue Lagoon soundtracks are the best ones.

  • The Conan Soundtrack(esp Barbarian) is by far my favorite, probably greatest soundtrack of all time imo, although I love some of the other compositions also!

  • @komakkun

Especially the Riddle of Steel/ Riders of Doom thing

  • @komakkun Haha if you got a sec let me know how you like my rendition

  • the best themes for me are blue lagoon and free willy!

by the way could you send me thoose tunes, i can`t find the versions you have

  • hey guys, if anyone is intrested in the blue lagoon soundtrack, i had uploded it, still missing some pieces, but i promise will upload the whole tracks

  • didn't know he made the Robocop & starship Troopers theme!!!

  • You can spot a Poledouris track a mile off.

  • the CONAN theme which is second in the order. i was searching for the theme for so long. never realised this was compiled by a legend :)

  • Conan the destroyer?

  • I love how you captured the best part of the score from the Free Willy soundtrack. My favourite track is 'Audition'.

  • awsome ! but where's quigley down under?

  • Hotshots part deux Really .....Seriously

OMG i have to reevaluate my whole life now

    xD

  • "Flesh + Blood" was epic

  • AGREED!

  • A very nice tribute. :)

What about Farewell To The King though? One of the most beautiful film scores that I've ever listened to.

  • The Lonesome Dove score is just simply and purely AWESOME. That music gave that movie so much more feeling.

  • I love the blue lagoon score.. it's just perfect... beautiful..

  • His score for Les Miserables is just about perfect. I like that opening piano piece too....

  • One word ROBOCOP

  • Poledouris gave somewhat mediocre films epic proportions with his brilliant scores. I'm not sure if I would have Starship Troopers and the Blue Lagoon as some of my favorite movies if it wasn't for Poledouris. And not to forget Conan the Barbarian, which has the best score in all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's films! :)

  • You are so right man! His music lifted those movies several grades! Conan is Arnolds best movie (besides T1).

  • The best in the world!

  • Missed one of the most colorful Poledouris soundtracks, Quigly Down Under. Otherwise, a brilliant collection.

    =^.^=

  • Great selections for his greatest hits! Only thing I would have done is take out some music for some from red dawn and the war at home (1996)

  • conan was so powerfull =)

  • Great job as always. I'd like now, if I may, to present my Top 5 composer recommendations for your next Greatest Hits video:

    5) Trevor Rabin

    4) Henry Mancini

    3) Bill Conti

    2) Lalo Schifrin

    1) James Horner

Honorable Mentions: David Arnold and John Frizzell or Part 2 for Danny Elfman. Of course, anything you do next will be worth watching anyway.

  • John Powell and Hans Zimmer part 2?

  • i am an aspiraring film director and he could have benn my composer of choice.

  • Wonderful job, as you always do! Thanks so much for posting! I can't WAIT to finally acquire the Conan score!

  • i love the soundtrack from free willy. it awaiks so many memories. RIP Basil and Keiko!

    They wont be forgotten.

  • Fantastic!

  • great, as always

  • RIP my magnificent fellow greek...

  • cool
