  • Yes, the tank did not explode. No, that's not how missiles work.

  • One more piece of junk...

  • And now Hapy driver of tank getout from it ::"heres a trick";

  • We just dinged them.

  • @Vash6the6Stampede What do you mean "we" the Japanese were testing there own tank.

  • Tank = Win

    Crew = Soup

  • @jamiefraser85

    Crew = Shaken up

    Penetration = Zero

  • the tank is destroyed. we can see smoke in open "door" ;P

  • BGM-71 TOW Tripod + Milan tracker-control unit + Swing fire Missiles = HJ-8.

  • No ERA was used because it wasn't a tandem warhead missile.

  • not bad not bad. an normally it also as ERA ontop of that also

  • @myfunkychannel

Looked pretty bad. You could see smoke coming from the hatch which means it was penetrated.

  • @stalkingalizee no if it was penetrated it wouldn't look like that. their wouldn't be smoke coming out like that. and the smoke if you zoom in and slow it down is the electronic sensors being blown from the ATGM.

  • Western country believe or think that they have the best of everything and no one can match or even can be better then there Military weapons. US and it allies have to much hope in there weapons. There is a lot of country that have much better Military weapons then the US.Do not be fool by your media or government. To nedeljk031 question why is there no flames or explosion. The flames and explosion is cause by the ammunition and fuel that is in the MBT.There is no ammunition or fuel in that MBT.

  • The Type 98 is analyzed to have the best armor.

REMEMBER, NO explosive reactive armor (ERA) was used.

    Are you joking?

Challenger2,M1A2 Abrams,Leopard2A5/6,Leclerc,K2 Black Panther,T-90 and Merkava Mark IV are more protected

  • So, what was the outcome?

  • HJ-9E is designed to destroy MBT. why anyone has doubt about it's capability to kill any modern MBT is always puzzling me?

  • Comment removed

  • this not truth,on tank even scratches was not, only idiot in this will believe

  • fake

  • Holy shit. Really?? 0_o

  • y the hell do ppl think chinese weapons are crap? didnt u see that there was no explosion? that means the missile successfully penetrated the armour and released huge amounts of heat inside the tank but as it was unloaded, the ammo didnt cook off. to those naive americans who think that explosions=success, u are stupid and gay!!

  • Jav puts this baby to shame

  • Thing is, StormRisingOriginal, the HJ-8 is much more powerful than the Javelin. Proven in combat, too.

  • Javelin is an expensive FF top-attack missile. HJ-8 is a wire-guided missile. Let's not kid ourselves.

  • T-72 with another turret ^^

  • this test is interesting!...please make the target tank a moving target at full combat speed then see if missle can hit it!...we will only find this out when india and pakistan go to war...red chinese weapons given sold to pakistan / m-60a3tts company commander @ milwaukee wisconsin usa

  • @bladensburg1814 this was intended for armour testing not missle testing

  • HJ-9E is pretty advanced piece of hardware. Still, killing modern MBT won't be easy for it, since 1400mm CE penetration is not enough to pierce turret of modern western MBT (statistically turret takes 90% hits during combat). But it can pierce trough frontal hull armor, so it's still threat for them. But if it works against ERA as good as Chinese claim, eastern MBTs with armor entirely based on ERA are pretty much screwed.

Type-98 is slightly weaker armored vs CE than basic M1A1 from 80's .

  • Type 98 only use composite armor, right.

The Type 96G, Type 99/G/A1/A2/KM, and CSU-152 have cutting-edge armors.

  • NO tank uses ONLY composite armor. There are composite armor layers and inserts in varying degrees in different aspects of a tank.

I do wonder why additional armor layer was used in Type99 instead of simply swapping our composite armor layer if it was so cutting edge. Bah.

  • @segregator236

    American BGM-71's Tripod + French MILAN's tracker-control unit + British Swingfire Missiles = Chinese HJ-8.

China got BGM-71 from Vietnam, French MILAN from Iran, and Swingfire from Sudan.

  • @kireta21 Well, the Kornet E can only penetrate 1000 to 1200mm RHA behind ERA, yet it still disabled Abrams in Iraq, and destroyed (that's not disabling) at least 2 Merkavas in the Lebanon war of 2006, which are arguably better protected than Abrams

  • @Ome99 Correct my friend, exported Kornets did a number on the Abrams tanks it attacked. This is because they mainly targeted the side of the tanks. The Kornet teams put their launcher on the back of a pick-up truck and drove it around the tanks to hit their softer flanks.

The Kornet is definitely not a missile you want aimed at your vehicle, that's for sure.

  • @Ome99

Yeah, while modern tank are nearly untochable for such systems in head-on fight, their side armor provides protection only from autocannons and hand-held AT weapons (latter, only in vital spots). In Iraq many tanks was equpped with additional side armor protection, since in regular combat (like Desert Storm) thin side armor was never a concern.

M1A1 (no ERA) side turret is only up to 500mm vs CE, hull is ranging from 500mm (crew section) to 300mm (engine),

  • @kireta21 stated penetration is behind ERA, so it's still useless.

  • @kireta21 wow NICE info man thank you..if you dont mind me asking what do you work or do for living cause i wanted to work in the military industry field..i love jet engines, airplanes, tanks, guns, rockets, radars and robots..i'm just asking because u sound professional..i'm an undergraduate engineer by the way..greetings from Egypt :)

  • well, it seems to me that it could very well had been edited

  • this is not HJ-8 but pf98

  • at 0:19.... was that an American flag???

    lol

  • dont think so...

  • oh lol.... won't be surprised if it was.

  • ha ha!!

    you are so attentive!!

  • lol, seemed a bit too stiff to be a flag tho.

  • No. The American flag doesn't have purple or orange.

  • Rofl it was so!

  • @SS27topol

    no its a striped marker

  • @SS27topol Dumb Ass that was an Imperial Japanese flag

  • @SS27topol Yes, to raise morale. Think ....

  • i bet thousands of fragments were bouncing around inside tank

  • 2things.

    1. what's the thing dropped on the ground? the round thingy.

    2. the smoke is from INSIDE the tank or?

    thx

  • 1. an insignificant piece of the tank

    2. its from the explosion, the smoke is ON the tank from the missile

  • There is no way of knowing whether the tank had fuel or not. It would make sense for it not to have fuel and ammo so the engineers can see exactly how it penetrated, as opposed to picking it up over a 5 mile radius.

  • lol that thing flew so far

  • Is that a Missie without a warhead? looks like it

  • did it work or not? cnt really tell but the tank wasn't in flames so guess it won.

and i dont think an abrams can take that if it gets blow apart by iraqis with old weapons

  • i think te missile penetrated, but the tank was empty. hj 8 can penetrate nearly all modern tanks front armour

  • 怎么感觉坦克没事?是坦克太好了,还是红箭8太差了???不过里面要有人,也被震死了

  • bosnians forces using hj8s in the balka wars reported that they can cut through m84 tanks prety well

  • Type 98 tanks were never put in service. The PLA for the Type 99 instead.

  • Hellfire and Javelin ATMs would easily tear that tank into shreds.

  • I would highly doubt that, buddy, since HJ-8E missiles are much more advanced than Javelin/Hellfire/etc ATGMs.

  • Ummm... Hellfire and Javelin would destroy ANY tank in this world. No tanks, regardless of which country it was made, can't withstand those projectiles.

I'm actually Chinese, but even I have to admit that a Hellfire would easily pwn the Type-99, or any other tank for that matter...

  • Actually, the Hellfire and the HJ-8 are similar in capabilities. They are both capable of destroying ALL known tanks and army helicopters.

  • NightStalkers, I compared its capabilities.

    The HJ-8E is more advanced.

  • LOL. Really? And what site did you compare it from? I don't think you did. Because if you had, you would know that the Hellfire and Javelin missiles are more advanced. The HJ-8 only has similar capabilities compared to the TOW missile. Don't deny it.

  • I compared if from every single defence site I could find.

The HJ-8 has TOW capabilities, yes, but I'm not talking about the basic HJ-8. I'm talking about the HJ-8E.

It can EASILY take out a tank loaded with ERA.

  • its as good as the TOW, and the hj9 i comparable to the hellfire. hj 10 recently came out as well

  • Comment removed

  • Its just a crappy chinese version of a TOW Missile

  • Can you learn before you speak? The HJ-8 is and indigenous design, considered among the world's best anti-tank weapons, and in service in over 9 nations.

  • i think i hear the engine still running, i d say with era the tank will definitely win

  • Remember, this is a Type 98 tank, NOT the Type 99 tank.

But however, the HJ-8 missile has also been upgraded many times. And, the HJ-9 and HJ-10 missiles have been released.

  • The explosion looked a lot less spectacular than the Javelin.

It looks like as if the Tank was just hit by a hard point penetrator, not an actual anti-tank rocket.

    watch?v=4R3oVOcKEQo

No offense, but this missile does not look lethal to tanks, especially when it apparently to me, has failed to do ANYTHING? to a old and terrible Type 98...

And whats with the american flag that fell down?

  • Buddy, the tank was NOT filled with fuel NOR rounds.

The HJ-8 is not designed to shatter tanks. It's designed to punch a small hole through it and is proved to be the world's most potent ATGM.

It doesn't LOOK lethal. Well, buddy, LOOKS don't mean ANYTHING.

  • well you never saw missile hit tank i see...there is nothing spectacular..no big blow no flames to the sky...just smoke...lot of smoke and few parts flew around.... this ATGM is one of the best i know and i know lof of them almost all...and type 98 is not terrible tank...in fact its armored almost same as Abrams M1....

  • Type 98 is almost the same as Abrams? Don't make me laugh please! I'd be surprised if this thing can stand toe to toe against an M60

  • The Type 98, although not in active service, does have advantages over the Abrams.

  • @segregator236

what advantages does it have over the 65 tons of devastating American steel?

  • @TheGreenSmoke weight doesn't matter, challenger and leopard both lighter yet still as good

  • @myfunkychannel they are not that much lighter than the Abrams. more weight does equate to better crew protection, but these three tanks probably have the best armor out there.

  • @Beliserius1 wtf are u talking about the M60 is a american junk tank now, it was made in 1960 plus is a 2nd generation tank. and the type 98 is a 3rd generation tank.

  • @JinBleach

An upgraded M60 could in fact tangle with this tank.

The stock M60 way back proved itself to be superior to T-62s.

Mix in with a new gun, new armor, and you get what Israelis have, and that tank, while still technically M60 can probably make this tank sweat

  • @Beliserius1

No, the 115mm U-5T gun was far superior than 105mm M68 gun used by M60 tank. At least longer range and have very flat trajectory.

  • @alongthebluff

The difference between the muzzle velocities were around 180m/s, and thus trajectory too.

The 115 had problems of its own, including the inability to stay on target after the first shot as the required look up mechanism to exchange round.

  • Type 99 and CSU-152 is for the M1, nedel. And yes, the Type 99 and CSU-152 do have advantage over the Abrams.

Type 98 isn't in active service. Mainly for export.

  • Your export variety is Type 90-based tanks. Type98 WAS initially being designed and made for domestic uses, but proved woefully insufficient so improved design was worked on immediately.

  • HAHAHA, is that an American flag falling off of the tank?

  • Nope. It's a test flag. It has red, green, and white on it.

  • Woooooooow that was super aimed shot!

  • It was guided.

  • draw tank not ful kill only maybe a moblety kill or stun i guess

  • It only scratched the tank. Nothing much at all.

But wait till ya see the Type 99!

  • Either Bad missile or Good tank... Which is more likely???

Im putting my money on the missile...(bad missile)

  • I'm putting on money on this: BAD FACTS AND BAD PROPAGANDA.

  • you can see smoke coming out of the blown hatches dumbass

  • The hatches were originally open. And the smoke was not coming from the hatches. It was comming off the surface of the tank where the missile struck.

  • For once i agree with segregator.

However, according to military experts at worldaffairsboard, they have stated that this video is composed of a Type-98 with Era armor shot at the turret (where armor is strongest).

I can send you the link to this discussion if you are interested.

  • The Type 98 was not equipped with ERA. You can clearly see in this video.

And yes, please give me the discussion link.

  • ok why ask who would win then delete every comment cause there wrong?

  • I didn't delete their comments. I didn't delete ANY comment.

I am just saying the test result, after all.

  • that is so cool 5*

  • lol

  • so who won?

  • Looks like the tank did.

  • The test results said that the tank did.

Remember, NO explosive reactive armor was used (just simply plain composite).

And this tank isn't as advanced as the Type 99! :-)

  • wow. thats impressive. Is this a Chinese tank? or japanese?

  • The original Chinese Type 98 prototype. WITHOUT any armor upgrades yet.

  • Chinese tank... xD

  • lol you replied to a comment that was a year old XD

  • well i saw this video 2 hours ago xD ehehh

  • @Kirilltraceur 这是中国的,日本那里能制造如此高端坦克!

  • @Kirilltraceur chinese i think 75%

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • *or not ot

  • they might wanna beef up the tank a tiny bit more x)

  • The tank won. So, why?

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • hey is leopard 2 better ot can type 99a2 own it?

  • MBT-2000, Type 99, Type 99G, and Type 99A2 can all defeat it.

  • who has thwe 99

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • tank looses

  • Actually, it didn't.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • dead :@

  • No. It wasn't damaged.

  • sad they not show closer they can be a few cm hole ! its typical damage ! and crew can die:) sad

  • You can't really conclude. Everything was intact and nothing was burning inside.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • No ERA,it looks like type 98

  • Yeah, I forgot to say.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • Hey,when the type99A2 is gonna be in service.I heard it's very heavy. That tank can fuck M1Abram easily!

  • Of course! There are 3 versions of the Type 99:

    1. Type 99

    2. Type 99G

    3. Type 99A2

Certainly the world's most advanced tanks.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank in this video IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • the rocket won the shap carge whent in to the tank killing eney one inside.

  • No it didn't.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • tank didn't look that damaged

  • may look that way but i'd say the inside is fucked up

  • Actually, the inside was unscathed. The missile only touched the outside, with no effect to the tank at all.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • it didnt look that damaged because they didnt stuff the tank with explosives like they obviously did in some other weapon tests, for example that one javelin vs tank video, theres no way the whole tank is blown to pieces like that just from the javelins explosive charge..

an anti tank weapon will usually just leave a small hole on the outside of a heavy armored vehicle, but thats enough to disable it and/or kill the crew inside.

  • and for this video, u can see the hatch is blown open and smoke coming from the inside, im pretty sure the crew wouldnt have survived this

  • The smoke is coming from the surface of the armor, not from the inside. The hatch was purposely opened so the inspectors could check to see if it was damaged.

  • Anti-tank weapons don't use much explosives, correct, but sometimes it's the explosive warhead that packs the punch. The Type 99 wasn't damaged.

  • It wasn't damaged.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!

  • sweet

  • Thanks!

  • tank won.. right?

  • That is correct.

  • GUYS! PLEASE NOTE that the tank IS NOT a Type 99! It is a TYPE 98!
