I regret I never saw Brian Pillman wrestle, because I never had my own cable TV until the time of his passing. But I heard it was awful. To tell you the truth, I only saw his skit outside the ring. My apologies for not being able to see him wrestle like I wanted to. But I would like to honor his memory and watch his matches online so I can remember him better. He was one of the greatest Loose Cannons, and he was and always will be The Loose Cannon. Thanks for the memories.
This was around the beginning of many sudden deaths in wrestling. For those who loved the "Attitude Era" and ECW (which I admit, I was a fan of), that era killed off alot of young men and women cuz of the constant pain from chair shots and tables and barbed wire, etc, that pain killers and muscle relaxers and other drugs were over done. Notice since Vince went PG, the death toll has gone down. Not a coincidence!!!
back then , we used to call the skytell hotlines, anyone remember those? I forget which one, but they had already mentioned that pillman had passed away earlier that day. Sad day
R.I.P. Brian. I remember watching this PPV. Good show but devastating news. That night was the official debut of KANE. I started getting into wrestling in mid-95. Pillman, Owen and HBK were my favorite wrestlers. Now two of them are dead and one's retired.
R.I.P. Brian. I remember watching this PPV. Good show but devastating news. That night was the offcial debut of KANE. I started getting into wrestling in mid-95. Pillman, Owen and HBK were my favorite wrestlers. Now two of them are dead and one's retired.
Back then I thought this was scripted.. Vince announces Pillman's death, Pillman appears next night on RAW. Everyone is suprised by his sudden appearance. You know how far wrestling would go to make a good storyline? But now I know if they announce someone's passing, it's no joke.
An autopsy found that a previously undetected heart condition, arteriosclerotic heart disease, had led to his death. The condition had also led to the death of his father. Pillman's use of drugs and alcohol also contributed to his death.
3 days before my 12th birthday. I loved watching this type of wrestling growing up. Look at what kids have to grow up with these days. The 'You can't see me' crap.
@tb049 At least you wont see Cena or any of the guys right now die young like Pillman did. It may not be for everyone but its the best for the talent in leading them in the right direction instead of the countless that died too young
@schwarzegeld What the fuck? Dude, Brian Pillman died from Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease from a mixture of drinking, smoking, and having a total of 40 surgeries around his chest area...... Come on now man, think about what you say before you say it.....Last i checked, the Illuminati couldn't give you heart disease..........
@TheWrestlingMemories i have not seen that although i hope to in the near future for i just saw footage of him fighting Mean Mark Callous at Clash of the Champions.
Oh my God, I thought you were from another country and then I realized you're from the US and your 20 years old. What's the excuse for your so called "English"???
Pillman was born with a heart defect so allthough his lifestlye wouldn't have done him any favours, unfortunately he wouldn't have led a long life anyway
i was shocked as hell when i saw this. still being a kid at the time and thus believing wrestling was real, one of my friends came to the conclusion that goldust's wife had poisned her pussy which resulted in pillman's death. I'll never forget how stan just busted out that poison pussy line.
Benoit wasn't a pay-per-view first of all. But instead of their original script that Monday where they would have the alleged demise of Mr. McMahon, they showed Benoits greatest matches. The next night on ECW they informed us they had all the details and that Benoit was not gona be mentioned anymore due to the fact he killed his wife, son then took his own life. Just like Owen Hart, they continued Over The Edge. Its a business decision on a big event you know?

they said that brian died in his sleep cause he had a heart attack due to drugs & heart failure && heart disease.& that the heart foundation was in the room @ the time is that true about the hart foundation part??
Its funny how if someone doesn't die directly from a drug overdose, people don't blame the drugs for someone's death. Everything about Pillman's life screamed "unhealthy," from the mass amounts of drugs he took to the 12 McDonald's double cheeseburgers he would eat as a rookie with Cincinnati to try and gain weight. He destroyed his body willingly - albeit not intentionally - and people act like he was a victim.
The timing is a damn shame, though! He was on his way to the top with Austin... :(
