you deserve nothing - what did you do to profit the company? nothing! the executives earned their spots - if you can do their jobs as well as they can, they why are you a floor manager??? people have different talents.
I happen to have been in the 'working world' and first hand experience with unions. I couldn't afford the 2000 to join the actors union so I lost jobs to kids who could afford the 2 grand and the yearly dues (whether you work or not) and the cut they get of every job. Sure, those jobs pay more, but there are fewer jobs. They moved alot of the industry to Canada, etc. Disney and Nick do a lot of their shows in Canada (no SAG rules) Mattel, Chuck E Cheese, Pizza Hut, etc. etc. are all non-union.
These facts are incorrect. At the moment, it's the employers choose between majority sign-up and secret ballot when employees try to unionize a workspace. The Employee Free Choice Act puts this choice in the hands of the workers. Employers overwhelmingly choose secret ballot because it allows them time to intimidate workers and rig the elections. According to a nationwide study of union elections, employers illegally fire employees in 30% of all organizing campaigns. Now THAT'S intimidation.
The so-called Free Choice act has no free choice! Employees and Companies will be strong armed into joining unions and unionizing businesses. Have you watched the expose they did on the company where they implemented this act. The employees were even threatened into joining the union. They signed and then sued to get their non-union atatus back. There was a time and a place for unions - that time and place are not in the USA and not now!
I think this site has done a great job bringing ou the truth, nice job!!! Wow you must be making $20 to $ 30 dollars an hour if you say you dont need unions.
Take a look at the history of unions and you will see why they are needed. Dont let the big money propaganda machine brainwash you into working for less then you are worth.
actually i work for my uncle and make minmum wage unions had there uses when they were created but now that we have labor lawsthere not needed
so there running rampent and theres nobody that can tell the union what to do
also union's are corrupt a friend of mine's grandpa was doing a job (hes not union) the union works hasseled him and ended up sabatogeing his equipment, all this because his labor prices were resonable
Yes unions have some bad people but that doesnt make unions bad; it like the nut with the gun is bad not the gun. Unions are not just about wages they give you safety standards, job security and seniority just to name a few. Lets say you have been working at a job for 5 years and you worked your way up to $10 an hour and youre good at what you do. Then they hire a new guy or girl for minimum wage and let you go. Later you find out that the person was the bosses relative.
who cares its that mans buisness nobody should be able to control who a private buisness hires if i owned a store i shouldnt have to hire someone or keep someone just because tere union thats takeing away the rights of the buisness man
You are so right. Did you see that story about the auto workers who were being followed to their homes for weeks by the Union leaders because they wouldn't sign their cards to join the union. It was a small plant of 50 workers and people say now friendships are ruined because the union forced an open ballot. This decision should be private.
So what you are saying is workers shouldn't have rights or feel secure because business owners should be allowed to do whatever they want? That is bogus.
I'm pretty sure most of you don't remember WHY unions were established in the first place...extremely LOW pay, no health benefits, no job security, no age restrictions...little children worked coal mines during the 1800's, I guess that is OK with you.
We have labor laws, we don't need unions to enforce them. Unions had a time and a place - now the choice should be up to the employees. This is one thing YOU REFUSE TO ADDRESS! I am discussing the private ballot system, while you continue to discuss unions. You provide absolutley no reason why ballots should become open instead of remaining CLOSED! Answer the question, or move along and harass comeone else. (hey maybe there should be a youtube union to protect kids from being harassed by you)
I noticed you deleted the other rebuttal post on here responding to your response.
Look, if you can't debate the issues, allowing yourself 2 face criticism, don't make political videos. You all have politically flawed ideals. Labor laws are enforced by union representation. In most manual labor jobs, big business owners view workers as expendable assets and would rather cut pay/benefits to make more. 2 answer your question...no. I don't think they need legislation. If fools don't want it, fine
Secondarily, it's due to the capture of almost the entirety of the mass media by the ultrawealthy, and its transformation in their hands into an incredibly effective instrument of propaganda on their own behalf.
There's a tremendous, and rapidly growing, gap in the distribution of wealth in American society. While there will always be some gap in any meritocratic society, most of the current yawning chasm isn't due to differences in merit between the ultrawealthy and the middle class and poor. Rather, it's due to an ever-increasing imbalance of political and economic power, which has dramatically shifted since the mid-70s to favor the wealthy.

It may be hard to believe, but the average family of four spends 21% less on clothes and 22% less on food — both at home and in restaurants — than a similar family did a generation ago, And though families may spend more today on things like Internet services, DVDs and airline travel, those increases are offset by declines in other expenditures.
The stats are right outside your door, for sale signs on every street, going out of business sings on ever corner. U kids really R naive...U honestly believe cutting back on education & healthcare, taking away rights from workings would benefit common folks & those with more would have compassion 4 the poor
More Bush Bashing from the left - what a surprise. What you don't understand is the fundamentals of the United States of America. We fought the Revolution to get away from paying taxes, to be FREE. And now we pay for everything and everyone whether we want to or not.People had more compassion when they could choose to give.People used to take care of eachother, now they figure the govt will do it for them. Education and Healthcare both have to start with CHOICE and the free market system.
What you don't seem to understand is that your fundamentals have been getting stripped for years now. You should take an hour out of your day and watch the documentary "The End of America." You've made comparisons in previous videos between Obama and Hitler (...), so maybe you would be interested in seeing some legitimate comparisons between the previous administration and those rights-stomping governments from the past. Mass arrests and deleted basic liberties are a sad state of affairs.
are you in favor of 'rights stomping govts'? if you aren't, then this govt should concern you greatly.. we need to learn from the past, not compound the problem - Bush being wrong doesn't make obama right, which is all people can seem to bring up - you think that if someone is against obama they agreed with everything bush did.. you'll find this reasoning false...unfortunately obama is plowing through with such force that people are more clueless than ever (that is the aim of the govt)
We 'lost that base' from a combo of cheaper wages overseas and the govt imposing every possible sanction on companies. Do you know what is happening in Oregon now? The environmentalists won't let the loggers log so they have to import logs from Canada! Unemployment is 20%, this has nothing to do with intentional outsourcing. I think if you would look deeper you would find as much (or more) fault with govt as you would with corporations. Meanwhile we can buy products that we would never have had.
A generation ago, a typical American middle-class family lived on the income of a single breadwinner. In recent years it has taken two working spouses to live the modern middle-class dream. Now, it seems even that is not enough to survive the skyrocketing cost of housing, health care and college while saving for retirement and shouldering growing debt loads.
As you and your friends of your generation enter the work force you will find that the steeping stone jobs will be the only ones available. Kids just out of collage can only find jobs in the service field that pay low wages. The jobs that generate value are jobs that produce things you can hold in your hands. The capitalist system was built on the working class making things.
You say we need to empower people and stop making them dependent on the government, yes and we can do this by creating middle income jobs. As we have more and more middle income jobs we will have more and more jobs needing a higher skill set that can be filled buy spoiled rich kids that have their parents pay for collage.
As products from China and other exporters flooded America, the purchasing power of many Americans rapidly declined. So now corporate profits also are rapidly declining, causing massive layoffs and further losses in consumer purchasing power. This is a vicious cycle that is feeding upon itself and has thrown us into a dangerous, growing recession.
Is it any wonder that America is now in an economic and financial crisis almost unparalleled in history? As the massive movement of outsourcing our jobs was eroding our domestic manufacturing base, did anyone fully comprehend its future impact on our economic base? As millions of jobs left America, there was a massive shift from the manufacturing workforce to the service industry. Hourly salaries of $15 to $25, and higher, were replaced by those that paid either the minimum wage or not much more
They became fully aware that there were numerous nations where workers would work long hours for very low wages. And so they began the process to distance themselves from the American worker and move manufacturing jobs to overseas nations where there were basically no unions, work rules, regulations, or other impediments to the proliferation of corporate profits.
To briefly review this debilitating movement of manufacturing jobs overseas, American CEOs found, beginning in the 1980s, a new innovative way to substantially increase corporate profits while, at the same time, increasing their already exorbitant salaries and bonuses.
Millions of American manufacturing jobs have now been lost, as they have been outsourced to other nations of the world. America has been transformed from a powerful engine of manufacturing to a docile service economy, and this has been disastrous for our nation and our workers.
The upcoming economic stimulus package will help to temporarily stop the bleeding and buy some time. But America cannot and will not rebuild its economic foundation unless the driving force behind it is based on manufacturing and selling products made by American labor. When we lost that base after several decades of rampant outsourcing the rusting of our economy began and now it will take monumental efforts to get it back.
If we stop buying 'stuff' people around the world literally starve. We support the economies of many nations. Like it or not money makes the world go round!
Thats not my point; my point is companies are moving over seas to take advantage of workers in other country not to help them eat. In our pursuit of cheaper goods our labor base is eroding. Unless we rebuild our manufacturing base, America cannot restore prosperity.
I don't know who you ladies are but one thing is certain--you have more knowledge and maturity than a lot of people who are twice your age. Keep up the good work! Is that Sean Hannity posing with you all in the profile picture. He's a great American!
even if the union did change strategy to focus on the retail sector, Why would they organize a union for a 6-person TrueValue hardware store when there is a 200-person Macy's [Department Store] five blocks away? If they were looking at retail, why would we use their efforts to organize a union for a 7-Eleven convenience store when there is a 200 or 300 non-union employee Publix corporate chain supermarket just down the street?
undoubtedly, there will be some, particularly where employees do it themselves, but what unions are going to be looking at is what they are looking at now, large firms in key industrial sectors for instance, cable, telecoms, the manufacturing that is left, transportation, distribution, the service sector. Those are the sectors where unions will take the hardest look.
Because they buy most of their inventory for OTHER COUNTRYS.
They are costing American jobs by not buying American. Many more manufacuring jobs have been lost in this way then have been lost due to having to provide a living wage.
Every time you buy something made in another country, you contribute to America''s unemployment rate.
Whats the real problem here? Is Wall Mart in financial trouble? What about McDonalds?
If everyone bought everything American, we wouldn't have even the essentials, because so many American roducts cost a fortune - thanks to the many regulations on our factories, employers are forced to pay sky high taxes, the buildings specs, etc.The problem is -accd to walmart workers - is that they want to keep their jobs - and they know if they are forced to unionize many of them will soon be unemployed.
My friend's parents own a ff franchise.Because of the minimun wage increase they had to pay out an extra 100,000 $ in wages and taxes last year. They are a family living a modest home with regular "stuff" Now their business is threatened because they have to pay teenagers 7.15/hour. Of course, then they had to up the pay of their adult mngt staff to be fair. A 'living wage' seems reasonable until you put it into practice..many of these jobs are not meant to be all that..they are stepping stones
Employee Free Choice Act Not about Franchises and Small Business
Union efforts are focused on certain big corporations. They are going to be focused on those firms and enterprises that employ large groups of workers. I'm not saying that no small business will be organized under this legislation:
If workers had more money in their paychecks they would be buying more stuff and more stuff will need to be made. And that stuff needs to be made by Americans. We have companies moving over seas to take advantage of workers (Some Children!!!) in other country that dont have labor, safety and environmental laws.
You can spout anything you want, the fact remains that ballots would no longer be private - and who does that benefit? Certainly not the worker! Of course I care about companies, I like to be able to buy shoes and I like eating food other than pasta. Our buying of 'stuff' enables people around the world to work! Period. The Chinese are furious with us because as we raise taxes and make life more difficult for large corp. they starve! We are the #1 worldwide consumer - this allows others to work.
To amend the National Labor Relations Act to establish an efficient system to enable employees to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to provide for mandatory injunctions for unfair labor practices during organizing efforts, and for other purposes. Check it out for your self
the bureaucrats who won't negociate on the side of the people (ex. GM) are benefitting.. they stick to their demands even if it means the company goes down. If the workers saw the benefit more companies would choose unionization
This clip should be called check the facts, this bill will give workers the choice of a card check but if they want a secret ballot they can have it. If anything it takes away employers freedom to intimidate workers. Why do you think they are fighting this so hard? They dont care about your rights so the secret ballot.
please reference your 'information' - you think emloyees would have a choice of whether to have an open or closed vote? That is incorrect - there would be no more secret ballots.
Obama has brought Syndicalism wrapped in socialism to Washington. We need federal grand juries unleashed on Indy Mac, Fannie and Freddie, Schumer, Frank, Dodd, Rezko, Auchi, Jarrett and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Chicago is a cancer on our national politics. Obama is its metastasis.
being a minority why are u aganinst unions. why do u want to be slave to the corporate Amernica. the civil right movement was a union. the womens movement was and is a union and America is a union. Repulicans u got to change otherwise u losing this and most definetly the next generation.
I take this as a "anti-employee free choice act" video not a "anti-union" video. I'm totally right wing BUT I have worked places where you litterally could not work without a union.
That is why in the box it says workers should have them if they want them. I understand the difference between having a union and not, having worked on the set of both kinds of movies and commercials. Many Disney and Nick chows have moved north because of the relaxed un ion rules in Canada. Even Mattel films in Canada. I think you have to weigh the benefits against the cost - just in the acting business alone..
being forced to join SAG hurts the actors. It costs 2,000 then a yearly fee on top of a cut of what you make. So, even if you don't work you are forced to remain in the union in case a job comes up . It has forced production companies to move other places where they can run a decent set, but not have to worry about the gestapo coming in to 'check' on things.. especially if there are kids on the set! They pick on stupid things then fine the production companies.NY was a hub not any more!
I've noticed that! Yeah, you can always tell too because those Canadian actors say, "Abowt" instead of "about", ever notice that? I'd rather NOT work with a union myself.
we need to wake up and demand fair cut of profits your telling me some exec in a building in walstreet deserves to make 500 times
more than a floor manager working 60 HR/week while executives golf and snicker about record sales!

Hourly salaries of $15 to $25, and higher, were replaced by those that paid either the minimum wage or not much more
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
They became fully aware that there were numerous nations where workers would work long hours for very low wages. And so they began the process to distance themselves from the American worker and move manufacturing jobs to overseas nations where there were basically no unions, work rules, regulations, or other impediments to the proliferation of corporate profits.
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
To briefly review this debilitating movement of manufacturing jobs overseas, American CEOs found, beginning in the 1980s, a new innovative way to substantially increase corporate profits while, at the same time, increasing their already exorbitant salaries and bonuses.
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
Millions of American manufacturing jobs have now been lost, as they have been outsourced to other nations of the world. America has been transformed from a powerful engine of manufacturing to a docile service economy, and this has been disastrous for our nation and our workers.
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
The upcoming economic stimulus package will help to temporarily stop the bleeding and buy some time. But America cannot and will not rebuild its economic foundation unless the driving force behind it is based on manufacturing and selling products made by American labor. When we lost that base after several decades of rampant outsourcing the rusting of our economy began and now it will take monumental efforts to get it back.
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
If we stop buying 'stuff' people around the world literally starve. We support the economies of many nations. Like it or not money makes the world go round!
RockTheFacts 2 years ago

FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
undoubtedly, there will be some, particularly where employees do it themselves, but what unions are going to be looking at is what they are looking at now, large firms in key industrial sectors for instance, cable, telecoms, the manufacturing that is left, transportation, distribution, the service sector. Those are the sectors where unions will take the hardest look.

You know why things are cheaper at wll-mart?
Because they buy most of their inventory for OTHER COUNTRYS.
They are costing American jobs by not buying American. Many more manufacuring jobs have been lost in this way then have been lost due to having to provide a living wage.
Every time you buy something made in another country, you contribute to America''s unemployment rate.
Whats the real problem here? Is Wall Mart in financial trouble? What about McDonalds?
rob66679 2 years ago

FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
If workers had more money in their paychecks they would be buying more stuff and more stuff will need to be made. And that stuff needs to be made by Americans. We have companies moving over seas to take advantage of workers (Some Children!!!) in other country that dont have labor, safety and environmental laws.

Dont hide behind the secret ballot argument; because you dont care about the workers rights, you are concerned about profits.

Give workers the choice of a card check if they want a secret ballot?? Of course you want a secert ballot! That's a given!

H. R. 1409
To amend the National Labor Relations Act to establish an efficient system to enable employees to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to provide for mandatory injunctions for unfair labor practices during organizing efforts, and for other purposes. Check it out for your self
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
Unionized employee's make on average 35% more than non-unionized workers.
It has nothing to do with paying union bosses, it has to do with the gap between the rich top 1% and the average worker getting bigger.
When it comes down to it, it will cut into the owners bottom line, thats about it.
Paying the union Bosses? Where did you come up with that crap? The union Bosses derive their salary from the workers themselves.
rob66679 2 years ago 2
the bureaucrats who won't negociate on the side of the people (ex. GM) are benefitting.. they stick to their demands even if it means the company goes down. If the workers saw the benefit more companies would choose unionization
RockTheFacts 2 years ago
This clip should be called check the facts, this bill will give workers the choice of a card check but if they want a secret ballot they can have it. If anything it takes away employers freedom to intimidate workers. Why do you think they are fighting this so hard? They dont care about your rights so the secret ballot.
FluxCapacitor2008 2 years ago
please reference your 'information' - you think emloyees would have a choice of whether to have an open or closed vote?

Palmoni44 2 years ago
That is why in the box it says workers should have them if they want them. I understand the difference between having a union and not, having worked on the set of both kinds of movies and commercials. Many Disney and Nick chows have moved north because of the relaxed un ion rules in Canada. Even Mattel films in Canada. I think you have to weigh the benefits against the cost - just in the acting business alone..
RockTheFacts 2 years ago
cont..
being forced to join SAG hurts the actors.
RockTheFacts 2 years ago
I've noticed that! Yeah, you can always tell too because those Canadian actors say, "Abowt" instead of "about", ever notice that? I'd rather NOT work with a union myself.

Isn't it interesting how the Liberals are intentionally using misleading terms for things.
This bill is an outrageous assault on Freedom.
States which have passed 'Right-To-Work' laws have experienced greater Job Growth...twice the rate of States which do not have 'right-to-work'.
Unions were a good thing when they formed, 100 yrs. ago...but they have accomplished everything they were formed to accomplish.
Now, they are clinging to power, and only driving jobs away from our shores.
