What is the point of sport hunting? Just to get out and kill something? Certainly the coyotes aren't bothering anyone out in the middle of the desert. I can understand hunting for meat, but shooting a dog just to shoot it is well :/
hi i live in layton ut i wonder if you know a good places to go hunt rabbits this is my email florenciocano@yahoo.com i am a new hunter and a like to eat rabbits but i don't know where to go hunt
@lujansinlove Anywhere you can access the west desert. There are tons of rabbits out there and this is the best time of year to pop them off. Hope that helps.
I have a Mauser K98k, no scope and I will not ever put a scope on it. Would that be suitable for hunting coyote or would they never get close enough to be able to pick'em off with just the irons?
@poopis91 I'm not aware of any bounty in Utah...as to using the .22lr I'd only utilize it if you where very accurate and using a high velocity round like the CCI Velocitor...centerfired rilfe cartridges are best.
@DangerousDude2010 they are in many parts...encouragement is given in that area, because there are many sheep herds which can be hurt from them. Thanks.
@Matrixsos I take it by the comment that you haven't hunted coyote. I don't think you can appreciate the level of difficulty in doing so...furthermore; if by "dog" you are referring to the coyote...you are mistaken the "dog" or Canis lupus is related but not the same as the Canis latrans also known commonly as the coyote or prairie wolf. These coyotes are a danger to livestock and become a population problem if left unchecked. These two coyotes were harvested for their fur and utilized humanely.
Man you breathe hard walking flat ground..leave the dogs alone and go for a run. You will feel better about yourself. Shooting pups is weak.

Hey I was wondering where this is?
Also where can you turn in for the furs and the county bounties? Will they skin for you or you need to all on your own?

whats wrong with hunting coyotes with a 308?
TATEORTOT32 10 months ago
@TATEORTOT32 Larger diameter hole and more potential damage to the hide.
DocTacDad 10 months ago
@DocTacDad but if your not hunting them for the hide and only the bounty the 308 will do the job correct?
TATEORTOT32 10 months ago
@TATEORTOT32 Yep, the .308 is more then up to the task of dispatching a coyote of two.

Congrats! What part of Utah are you hunting in? Were you using the .308 or .223?
MyYogiB 1 year ago
@MyYogiB North and both...although .308 is, by far, not the ideal coyote round. It was all I had at the time. Thanks.
