  • You get your guitar...you start watching the video...alright i have the first riff, you say...you smile...and than in 0:35 you deside to take up fishing.

  • does the right hand even know what the left hand is doing?!?!

  • Romeo and Malmsteen. 'Nuff said. This guy looks like he should run a wiccan and/or anarchist bookstore.

  • Dats my Boe

  • Holy motherfucking sweep picking.

  • i got a fever and the only prescription is more cow bell.

  • @andthenshekickedme wtf is cowbell

  • @MindsetBeats1 fuck you bitch

  • he's fucking insane, but that arpeggio run in particular is pretty easy; although, he does it really fast and clean.

  • i can play zombie

  • @MindsetBeats1 i hope ur making a lame ass joke

  • @DEBFG Where could I get the tab for that?

  • Not bad. I've learned to play better than this though lol

  • get a haircut......

  • best guitarist of all time (also Petrucci is amazing). Fuck 12 bitches who disliked this

  • Comment removed

  • @adamDSK Loomis is in my top 3 favorites guitar players but he's slower and not as diverse/well rounded as Buckethead.

  • very clean!!! EXCELLENT!!!

  • Of course it sounds weird at first, I think this changes when you add the background chords..

But the sound is mean :D doesn't forgive the slightest mistake

  • @ roflpl0xnubsauce skwisgaar was actually based on alexi laiho

  • @MrBlarghmaster well that sucks ass because alexi isnt very good, everyone thinks hes good because COB is the only melodeth band to market in north america, there are much better like jarkko kokko and antti kokko(there not brothers)

  • what song? i wanna have a try at the solo :D

  • @DoomsdayPartey It's the intro solo to The Psalms of Lydia.

  • he should run for President

  • i quit

  • Sounds like shit.

  • Why is that guitar neck so thick?

  • @baconbut95 It's a 7 string.

  • @Kontemplative

    Oh, thanks. :)

  • @baconbut95 Because it's a 7-string guitar brah.

  • does his pubic hair have the same strawberry blond colour?

  • Tabs?

  • he looks way cooler now

  • BEST GUITARIST EVER

  • "So what do you think chuck norris?"

    ". . .I think I need to practice."

  • He's an elf.

  • Tristania ?

  • in the first part where could i find the tabs for that riff

  • The guitar tone sounds like poop. Probably a digital amp. Get some tubes in your signal path buddy.

  • @2619888 This was for Guitar World or something similar, guitarists ALWAYS use tiny modeling combos when demoing for magazines, Jeff uses ENGL tube amps normally.

  • The arpeggio lick is too complicated to be played in slow speed.

  • i remember when i was actuall friends with him on Myspace and he would send me little video clips and help me with learning how to play before he was in Nevermore :D

  • @MaggotMuncher96

OMG I want to be you :(

  • @xD0NKEYx that was back when myspace was the bomb and Nevermore didnt have Loomis :D

  • @MaggotMuncher96

    Are you lying to me?

  • @xD0NKEYx no way dude

  • @MaggotMuncher96

Then you're being sarcastic to me, because Nevermore released their first demo in 1992 called Utopia with Loomis and Dane, but IIRC myspace was founded in 2003.

  • @xD0NKEYx there is such a thing as pin palls and VHS tapes

  • @MaggotMuncher96

What? I don't follow, what do you mean?P Pen pals you mean? VHS tapes?

But you said "that was back when myspace was the bomb and Nevermore didnt have Loomis" which is from a time-standpoint impossible

    O_o

  • i liked the intro riff

  • @sphynx105 If your wondering what its called its, Psalm of Lydia. Of Nevermore's The Godless Endeavor album.

  • @novemberrain1994 Thanks!

  • Schecters suck. Heavy and their nut always sucks. Ibanez makes awesome 7-strings. Fernandez is pretty legit, too.

  • @quinnmyster Ibanez doesnt know shit about making 7-strings, best 7-strings are made by Schecter, you must be really weak since they are too heavy for you...

  • @gorefinder No, I've owned a Schecter, played their 7's, even a $700 one to give them a chance and it was worse than Ibanez's low end $400 7321 model. The fretboard was not smooth, the strings each had their own amount of peak bending they could do--they were not even because the nut Schecter uses is horrible, and they weigh a ton. They're just bad guitars. I'll never get another. Don't chose Schecter just because they look "metal".

  • @quinnmyster Well what the fuck do you expect from factory strings, buy new ones. I have used a lot of Ibanez 7-strings,a 7-string needs to be bigger, heavier, because people who pick them up are 99 % bigger people(fat, bigger whatever),and Ibanez doesnt have that, while Schecter for me has this abnormal amount of comfort which I have never seen on guitar. I am the proud owner of 5 Schecters, one 8-string, 3 7-strings, and 2 6-string, and they all satisfy me to the fullest.Which model did you buy?

  • @gorefinder I just can't figure why you said 7-strings are played mainly by fatties. Me and everyone I know that plays a 7 is not a chunker nor even chunky.

  • @quinnmyster I am not saying fatties but most of the guys i have met that are playing 7-string are bigger, more muscles and shit, that kind, Peter Steel more or less type of dudes XD, Schecters 7 and 8 strings are perfect for me since I have monster hands :D

  • @gorefinder Well big hand definitely don't work on small ESP fretboards. I have very large hands too and I've found I, as well, enjoy playing a larger fretboard too. A longer neck also stretches out the fret distance and even can allow good intonation in drop A or drop G if it's 27" or longer.

  • @quinnmyster Thats why I like schecter, almost every guitar has jumbo frets and a longer neck :D The ESPs are for dwarfs XD

  • @gorefinder True.. true... haha

  • @quinnmyster hahah yeah, but to be honest i've put on about 85 pounds since i started playing a 7 string :dino:

  • @fightingnate haha..

  • @fightingnate

Hopefully it wasn't all on your stomach xD

  • His hair gives him +6000 haste rating

  • Did you guys now that jeff loomis auditioned megadeth just before friedman. His work on guitar was appreciated by mustaine. But he was rejected because of his age. He was 16 years old ! what a musician.

  • @spcell1 if megadeth accepted Jeff... it would be called Megajeff :)

  • after watching many teenagers on youtube playing sloppy, terrible sweeps with annoying digital delay and too much gain I had to watch this to remind myself how sweeps are meant to be done.

  • skwisgaar was based off of alexi laiho...

  • @Jaymac11191989 DAMN RIGHT MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!

  • Loomis is ONE HELL OF AN AXE-MAN!

  • HOLY FUCKING FUCK.

  • skwisgaar skwisgelf OMG OMG OMG! ims yours fans !

  • i bet he can finger a girl :D

  • Figure 1 : Ok :D

    Figure 2 : DAMN! O_o

Figure 3: I have already kicked my guitar and started to play bass ! :P

  • @danihellz1988

And then you realised that Bass is waaaaay harder to play than the guitar... :P

  • @shoooranje Yup, now I play the triangle :D

  • @danihellz1988 XD...

  • @danihellz1988 haha yeah really. figure one: eh that's not too bad at all. figure two: yeah i'm gonna wait so i don't my ass handed to me by it haha

  • Lawl,he has trouble playing it slow XD

FUCK YOUUU JEFF LOOMIS FOR BEING SO GOOD!!

  • this man is a BEAST!!!

  • the dude has an awesome legato technique.

  • that's not sweep picking....

    That my friends...

    is....

    JEFF PICKING!!

  • I love that riff, the F major arpeggio sounds like Go Off - Cacophony

  • this guitar sounds better than his signature guitar

  • Even slowed it's too fuckin fast for me °__°

  • @MultiAlien3 but why is everyone exercising it slowly then ?

  • haahhaha at 0:57 - 0:58

  • @SmokeAndMirrors2 nooooo loomis cant fail noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

he does this only so we will think he's mortal

  • Love how he fucks up like 3 times playing the sweeping slow but fast he plays it pretty much flawlessly..

  • Lol that's so easy any retard could play that fuckin James Hetfield can play better than that lol lol o l ol oll ol ollol

    >cue shitstorm

  • @noradosmith ^troll fail^

  • @MRec1124 yer i love how absolutely no body cared lol

  • so emotionless. he plays better faster :D

  • wow

  • ok this is probably one of the most difficult intros of all time

  • Now play all three together ...

  • real life skwisgaar?

  • @roflpl0xnubsauce

skisgar is based off Malmsteen but i totally agree with you

  • @roflpl0xnubsauce hahaha so true! :D

  • @roflpl0xnubsauce that would be alexi laiho

  • @MetalXGod666 Actually, I'm ALMOST positive Brendon Small said in an interview somewhere....I can't for the life of me remember where....that Skwisgaar was based off of Loomis, so he is correct. Prove me wrong though!

  • @b3nf1tzg3ra1d Really? I've never heard before that Skwisgaar is supposed to be Jeff Loomis. I'm just going off what I've heard and believe to be true

  • @roflpl0xnubsauce

    Loomis plays in some metalocalypse

  • @roflpl0xnubsauce definately not fast enough.....

  • Those 4 dislikes bring two possibilities in mind;

1- There are deaf people on youtube, disliking any videos they can't hear.

    2- Aliens do exist.

  • 0:18 his facial expression = "BRO IM STONED AS FUUUUCK"

his little head nod thing at 0:32 doesnt help...

  • @SpencaDrum hahaha

  • this dude is fucking good

  • ibanez 8 cordes arf !!!!!!

  • O.O awasome!!!!!!

  • Damnn this is like sex to my ears.

  • everything sounds better when he slows it down

  • Jeff Loomis is so godly, he finds it easier to play fast than slow..

  • Comment removed

  • 0:57 "Ah fuck, I can't play it slow, slow is too hard for me xD"

  • It's freaking good, but meh, it's so monotone.

  • i hate his guitar playing

  • Jeff's playing makes me jizz...

  • lol pause in between 17 and 18 and u see two heads! i knew he was a fkn demon or suming!

  • Jeff Loomis is a very underatted guitarist, and very nice also.

  • the world's most metal albino

  • @kierandoyle1992 Lol, he's not albino.

  • @LessthanJake14 i'm aware of that

  • @kierandoyle1992 OH ARE YOU NOW?

He does look like one in this, though.

  • @kierandoyle1992 ....LMAO...it's the camera but good stuff

  • Wtf when i saw his sweep picking my jaw dropped

  • que afinacion uza??

  • I can't even play the arpeggio lick slow...

  • figure 3 sound like a desafinated drunk XD... but jeff loomis is one of the greates neoclassical guitarrist in the world...to me =D

  • imo.... heavy metal would be alot more heavy if they slowed the fuck down and squashed the shit outta riffs... the slowed intro fg 1 IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @RedSoxA7x i completely agree with you.. nothing better than a heavy riff ringing out with good palm muting as opposed to being sped through and you cant appreciate the heavy tones

  • @RedSoxA7x but then it would be more heavy, and less metal. no one wants less metal. metal is fucking fast.

  • @RedSoxA7x yea but then it would be that crap that those bands who do nothing but the same 3 chords and blast beats on the drums play

  • what song is this?

  • @Pokerplayer1045 Psalms of Lydia

  • Figure 2 is an absolute beast.

  • Is Jeff Loomis religious?

  • @guitarwailer7..backi in the early *80s Yngwie was among the best players =along with Rhoads, Holdswoth ,Uli , Di Meola etc ...but now with guys like Loomis Bumblefoot ,the ''shrapnel' guys and countless others he doesnt stand out anymore We can stop mentioning Yngwie

  • Psalm Of Lydia....Very Nice And Difficult Song....By Nevermore!!!!!!JEFF LOOMIS RESPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol who the fuck dares talk about John Mayer in a Jeff Loomis video ??? Can't compare to Loomis. They both play different. Just stfu Mayer fan boys. He's a total douche unlike Loomis who is one of the nicest people on earth.

  • es una cancion supongo vdd osea partes de una cancion podrian decirmee km se iama

  • Jeff Loomis is a good musician i could listening to his stuff over and over unlike malmsteen. His songs are just a bunch of guitar licks. Loomis is the best shredder out there

  • you're gay

  • Ha he plays better fast than slow.

  • razorman916 im with you!!! since 5 years ago i used to play this sort of music and this sort of guitar playing, but i figured that ain´t what i want, this music cannot reveal really what soul wants to say!!!

that´s why i prefer richie kotzen john mayer, etc!!!

  • @camilojey yeah dude there aint nothing better than the blues. Metal nowadays is either too cheesy or too angry and noisy. IMO

  • FUCKING SICK!

  • what band is this guy from?

  • @54MProductions

Currently, he's a member of Nevermore

  • He's good and I respect him and his skill level but to me it just sounds like the same old shit that every metal player wants to play. Malmsteen was the only guy to really perfect this style and make it sound natural and smooth. I you guys want great guitar playing listen to John Mayer play gravity (live at crossroads 2007). Yes, I said John Mayer. He has a great sense of dynamics, tone and phrasing and he rips into a solo at the end that even has sweeping in it. just watch the whole thing.

  • @razorman916 malmsteen perfected it?

    my arse.

loomis is the best and cleanest shredder out there. and more importantly still hes down to earth one of the nicest people ive met. where as malmsteen is a fud

  • @ryaniomitch yes dude malmsteen invented and perfected this style and he s much better, cleaner, and faster than loomis. Loomis is kinda sloppy if you ask me and he's not as fast as Malmsteen. Not to mention Yngwie has the best vibrato of all and he has great tone too. look "yngwie solo and bouree" that's when he was just getting started and loomis can't come close to touching that and you shuold check out some of Yngwie's more recent videos. Not only does he still have it, he's even better now

  • @razorman916 are you kidding me!

loomis is theeeeeeeee cleanest person ever. he has unbelievable control over the guitar.

  • @ryaniomitch dude listen from 0:42 to 0:48 and also listen at 1:07 and 1:18. you will hear sloppiness. If that were yngwie you would hear nothing but the notes. Loomis is using too much gain here and it shows. Yngwie always has great tone (and vibrato, technique, speed, phrasing, and everything else)

  • @razorman916 i noticed it right away but some folk just have a bad day everyonce in a while. in malmsteens case a bad year or two

  • @razorman916 duude yngwie got nothing on loomis...

  • @wannabeserpento99 yes he does have quite a bit on him but I'm not gonna get into this argument again

  • @wannabeserpento99 rofl yngwie is a fucking tool.

  • @razorman916

Yeah Mayer is actually pretty good. I personally think he should knock off the radio BS though. IMO he half asses it there for mainstream support. Plus he comes off as a huge tool(to me at least).

  • @rob825 agreed

  • fuck that

  • you calll that slow?

  • the cleanest sweeps around...but he's an awful teacher...and he just can't play slow goddamit (not seeing it as a bad thing all the times)!!!:P

  • sweeps dont get much cleaner than that...its a shame that many people nowadays half ass this technique.

  • nice

  • yes its is likes tha greatests guitarists in all of the worlds Squisgar squigelfs's

  • lol slow the solo sounds so fucking cool :)

  • jeff loomis WINS!!

    fatality..........this guy is awsome!

  • Pretty clean fast sweeps but he cant touch chris broderick

  • The Psalm of Lydia \m/

  • Sweep picking master.
