@thepowerfulnews: total codswollop, and actually dangerous codswallop at that. They eat insects, not crops, and they don't kill other birds. Just to show there's nothing new in human stupidity, in the 50s China had the same thought you did: everywhere you look there are sparrows on the crops, let's kill them! So they did, and then suffered a famine which took the lives of around 30 million as the insect pests, which the birds had been keeping in check, had a free run at all the crops.
I wish everyone would know that European Starlings are a pest in the usa, they cause $800 million in damage to farmers crops each year and kill other native species.
A shame it's such very low resolution, the starlings have found a new roost behind the Crewe Municipal Buildings in the Town Square!!!! Now that's Karma
I would imagine that if you happened to witness this live you wouldn't understand the fuss about special effects in the movies anymore, except that it's more clean. Thank you for uploading!
Swarm intelligence is truly one of the world's wonders, just for the sake of visual beauty.
this will go on till early spring, then many of the starlings will go back to europe and the resident birds will pair off and breed, they will all be back in october.
I was a bit naive standing where I did, it sounded like rain falling around me but the sky above was clear... Afterwards I had to wash the car, my clothes (even went up my sleeves and down my neck) and then myself. Must be working wonders for business at the local car-washes.
I was watching them the other day, and the people are complaining, this is not in the middle of the countryside but a town and they are shitting all over the cars houses etc, the people are driven mad by the noise for hours after they have landed in those trees, CREWE COUNCIL PULL YOUR FINGER OUT AND SORT THIS MESS OUT, besides that its a great sight to see, but not worth all the hassel. great video 5 stars!
again its a murmuration of starlings when they fly like this not flock and its a roost when they land and settle
