While Ace and Peter were justifiably criticised for their substance abuse problems, and Paul and Gene had to pretty much run the band themselves at certain stages, I find I have to really admire Ace here (oh God his laugh is infectious!) and look down at Mr Simmons.

I mean, is it just me or did Gene really look like he didn't want to be there? The same sort of attitude is on display during the Australian press conference, and the (infamous) 1979 Tom Snyder interview.

It was so massive, it took 2 days to set up and would have to run at least 2 shows in every city and sell every ticket. In most citites, they had 2nd nights, that were half full or just cancelled. Own any cds of theirs? Notice who owns the copyright. Hori productions. Try reading one of the myriad books on the band

from 75 to 78 kiss made hundreds of millions, just because a lable went broke or a tour was great doesnt mean paul and gene have money issues

It has nothng to do with the label or anything else. They lost the money they'd made in the 70's. Thats a fact. They had tax problems stemming from their lack of cash, so they sold their catalog of songs to a Japanese company called Hori productions, whom they must pay for the legal use of the songs they wrote. Try reading up on it.

I became a KISS fan in 1974 when "Hotter Than Hell" came out and I continued to be a huge KISS fan through the rest of the 70s. I became a member of the KISS army in 1976, been to several shows. Gene Simmons ruined the band. Now he claims that Ace Frehley had nothing to do with what KISS became.He even stoops low enough to call Ace a Nazi. As a Bass player, he at best mediocre. He couldn't touch Geddy Lee on Bass.. Gene needs to just disappear for good. Gene turned me against KISS years ago.

In my opinion, Gene is a great bass player and highly underrated. Geddy Lee is awesome though... Comparing the two isn't really fair. Geddy's a Prog-rock monster, much more technically sound. Gene was trying to be simple and straight ahead. I think he's improved a lot.

My point was it was terribly low of Gene to publicly call Ace a Nazi. Ace did as much as Gene, Paul or Pete to get KISS where they got to. I just didn't appreciate his negative comments toward Ace, that's all. KISS was a much better band before Gene realized that he could turn the band into a corporation.

@1959blantz The reason Ace was called a Nazi by Gene is because a drunken Ace would don a Nazi officer uniform and knock on Gene's and Paul's hotel door and goosestep in the room doing Nazi salutes and Heil Hitler screams.
