the 3710 i believe is the one my school has and apparently other people who own it have the same porblem with it not dampining the top notes. anybody else have this problem with this model?
get about 40 rubber bands and put it underneath the dampening pad. solves the problem a little bit. also do you sharp and flat keys sometimes hit the bottom row notes?
Good to see you again it always a pleasure to hear your playing sir,my name is David Mercado the driver from the festival in Puerto Rico "that David" Mach's gut, David.
david freidman man the solo midnight star is very nice and attempting to play it well those are nice vibes there well if u could please tell me the names of those two peices u played id b greatful
The "old" dampening book of mr Friedman is probably the best vibraphone exercise book ever written.its a shame that people say its old and out of date. ITS STILL THE BEST. if i would know about this book little earlier i wouldnt stop to play mallets... but im happy cause i got back to drums and enjoy it soooo much!

rubber bands? ok- I'll have a try. thx! No, the bars don't collide as I am a "soft" player... :-)

every so often (about a year) the rubberbands will get old. But ya it does the job.
Anyways i think this is definatly hurting yamahas rep. with me (for vibes anyway) go adams

Don't you mean C2 to C5?

@immaculateboy
actually he means C3 to C7; weird that he would make that error, unless he's using some sort of different numbering system for the octaves
physsion 2 years ago
@physsion Yeah.... a C1 to C4 vibraphone would be pretty interesting sounding lol

Both the pieces you heard were comppletely improvised. Maybe you can transcribe them. If you do, I'd love to see the written music!!!!

Hi David,-
extremely beautifull playing! I really like your frasing - I better get that old dampening book of yours out and practise some more:0)
I know about bending notes, playing with bows and doing the mouth vibrato thing, but I've seen anyone playing overtones on the vibes - great!!
All the best
