Apologies for correction, but the incident at the Crossroads was not a "communications error". Winters understood that the Germans had taken up a position within range of his Battalion's field HQ. His idea was to go himself, so if he got killed, he wouldn't sacrifice his squad. They would wait a short time before backing him up. What he employed was brilliant leadership and sound strategy. Please watch the scene in BoB; I believe it is pretty accurate.
Dude, I´ll follow these principles even more because it come from Major Dick Winter. He´s an example of soldier and human being. God bless all the american soldiers that fought in the WW2. Does Anyone know if Major is alive ?
