I understand that they want to play old songs, but force a singer to sing in a register that isn't theirs is WRONG. That's why that poor woman struggles so much.

On a side note, it was kind of a dumb move getting a singer who couldn't properly sing all of their old songs. I used to think it was because Anette couldn't sing, but I've heard her sing well, even live. She just has no business singing songs like this.

I'd rather have Anette be with them so they can make awesome new music like Imaginaerum, can you imagine the kind the butchery that Tarja would have done to the vocals in that? I'd rather enjoy the old music sung by Tarja (except for some exceptions were I think Anette does a very good job) and also know that they will keep making new music in their own epic ever changing genre.

She's doing the best she can. It ain't really her fault. They picked her. They know how she sings and has to compete hard against the music. She's got a nice voice, but just not suitable to front such a band. She's great with ballads and backing vocals.
Theres so much wrong with this cover. I say "Cover" cause Anette has fucking nothing to do in "Slaying the dreamer". Her voice just isn't good. She trys to sing higher notes than she can physically take(2:40 is just so fucking wrong that i don't understand how that nobody got up on stage and just punched her)And I don't know what she was thinking when she got dressed that morning but someone should burn her wardrobe down... Not to talk about her dance moves at stage... I'm embarrassed for her.

LOL Anette. In ANY genre, no one is supposed to sing JUST ANYTHING. Even the greatest sopranos would NOT sing every soprano role, you have to pick roles/songs you can actually sing. That universal rule definitely applies to you as well, and this is not a song for you, clearly. Even without the last phrase that you did not sing. Sad.. It's one of my fav NW songs ever..

I've often been puzzled by the choice of songs Nightwish has chosen for Anette to sing live - it's almost as if they're trying to prove something - but they're just making her sound worse than she really is by having her sing songs beyond her range.
I hope with their new album they'll finally leave behind pre-DPP songs.

I absolutely love Anette's version of this song! Seeing as this song was written to suit an operatic soprano I think Anette nails it and makes me love it all over again. Keep on rocking guys, Nightwish still has true fans!
I actually thought that considering her range and the fact that she's not a classically trained singer she did a good job. Clearly she (they) adapted the song around her abilities. I rather enjoyed it.

Si, para ti puede sonar como alguien que solo grita (para mi igual) su técnica es belting -muy dañina por cierto-. Pero el hecho de que use esa tecnica no la vuelve menos soprano que Tarja (además Tarja tampoco tiene una técnica clásica sólida... a mi me gusta, pero su voz ya esta muy gastada por esa técnica.)

La gente esta "AHHH LA AMO! LA AMO" o "AHH SE HA VUELTO MEJOR! CANTA MAS AGUDO!" y no es cierto, canta lo que puede cantar, si bien es posible que sus notas hayan aumentado con los años. lo que esta mal no son sus notas, sino su técnica, empuja mucho su voz que es de calidad lirica para hacerla dramática (una verdadera dramática es la de DSO,y por cierto, es BUENISIMA)

Has oido a Tarja cantar The phantom of the opera con su bro? hay una version -un vid pues- no me acuerdo cual es.. pero ahi no sostiene nada los agudos y se le van horrible =_= (pero enserio, ho-rri-ble). Tarja no es una voz muy aguda ni muy grave, aunque tiene buena extensión.
Yo creo que con terapia y volviendo a colocar la voz puede recuperarla -en su forma mas sana-.

Tarja no era muy buena si la ves desde el punto lírico, su vibrato es horriblemente pronunciado, si bien tiene una voz de timbre bonito, ya se ha alterado mucho por como usa la técnica.
Pero mira, es normal que te guste más Tarja -a mi me pasa igual...-No obstante creo que Tarja esta por debajo de nw, que es lo que yo escucho. Nw sin Tarja es diferente, lo mismo que Tarja.

Pienso que Anette tiene una voz increible, lamentablemente no es una voz entrenada como la de Tarja. Basicamente comenzó bien la cancion, pero al intentar cantarla como Tarja, obviamente no iba a poder. Este video es muy viejo, a la fecha Anette ha mejorado mucho.

No comparison to the original version at all. At least Anette had the sense to leave the stage since she had nothing to contribute with her weak voice. Tarja makes that one of my favorite songs. What a shame. Those people were cheated.

I don't dislike her at all, I AM a pro-Tarja, but it was Nw's decision and if so, i am gonna accept it, i mean, NW's soul is called: Tuomas Holopainen.

Si, para ti puede sonar como alguien que solo grita (para mi igual) su técnica es belting -muy dañina por cierto-. Pero el hecho de que use esa tecnica no la vuelve menos soprano que Tarja (además Tarja tampoco tiene una técnica clásica sólida... a mi me gusta, pero su voz ya esta muy gastada por esa técnica.)

Estoy de acuerdo contigo en que hay canciones que Anette ha interpretado de forma que a más de uno no nos parece (yo personalmente odio su slaying the dreamer...) pero su Nemo lo idolatro, comparado con el de Tarja (Tarja arrastraba su voz ahi!! siempr se oye como ahueca para alcanzar a cantarla :S)

Por ejemplo, yo he escuchado varias canciones de annete..y se me hace insoportable! simplemente, no me gusta su voz...debo admitir que no se absolutamente nada de canto, asi que no entiendo todas las referencias tecnicas que haces, pero he estudiado musica y confio en mi oido. Y me parece que annete no es una buena cantante. incluso en las canciones que estan echas para ella (amarant o bye bye beautiful)....

Escucha el oceanborn o el from wishes to eternity a su concierto desde End of an era a la actualidad.
La gente esta "AHHH LA AMO! LA AMO" o "AHH SE HA VUELTO MEJOR! CANTA MAS AGUDO!" y no es cierto, canta lo que puede cantar, si bien es posible que sus notas hayan aumentado con los años. lo que esta mal no son sus notas, sino su técnica, empuja mucho su voz que es de calidad lirica para hacerla dramática (una verdadera dramática es la de DSO,y por cierto, es BUENISIMA)

Yo creo que con terapia y volviendo a colocar la voz puede recuperarla -en su forma mas sana-.

Tarja no era muy buena si la ves desde el punto lírico, su vibrato es horriblemente pronunciado, si bien tiene una voz de timbre bonito, ya se ha alterado mucho por como usa la técnica.
Pero mira, es normal que te guste más Tarja -a mi me pasa igual...-No obstante creo que Tarja esta por debajo de nw, que es lo que yo escucho. Nw sin Tarja es diferente, lo mismo que Tarja.

Pienso que Anette tiene una voz increible, lamentablemente no es una voz entrenada como la de Tarja. Basicamente comenzó bien la cancion, pero al intentar cantarla como Tarja, obviamente no iba a poder. Este video es muy viejo, a la fecha Anette ha mejorado mucho.
Si pueden vean la version de "walking in the air" cantada por anette, es una reedicion de la version antigua, q para la voz de anette queda perfecta. NUNCA ENTIENDO ESO DE "VERGÜENZA AJENA", NO CREO NADIE PUEDA SENTIR X ALGUIEN MÁS.

La verdad a mi me gustan mucho las versiones de Anette... en especial en Dark Chest of wonders.... Y hay que decirlo hay que tener valor para interpretar esta cancion sin Tarja...

No comparison to the original version at all. At least Anette had the sense to leave the stage since she had nothing to contribute with her weak voice. Tarja makes that one of my favorite songs. What a shame. Those people were cheated.

Slaying the singer... Seriously, there are songs that Anette should not be allowed to sing even in the shower. This one is the first in the list. Why don't you have Marco sing the whole song, at least it wouldn't sound so disgusting.
