I took a ride in the b17 flying fortess nine o nine! On 9/9/11 it was really scary when the plane started to take off but I had fun! I hope these guys come back to connecticut again soon or next year because I want to fly in the b17 again but I hope that I won't be scared this time because I will asked my little sister if she can download all the music from 1990 Memphis belle soundtrack!
wow... I used to work with the Collings Foundation when I was a kid with my dad, that's back when the '24 was All American! I haven't worked the airshow circut in years though, not since before I was in the AF. I miss it. Glad to see those two are still flying!
I saw these very planes yesterday (9/10/08) in Rhode Island and needed a video-fix of WWII aircraft and especially the B-25.
My Uncle Peter after whom I'm named was a bombadier/navigator on a B-25 in North Africa and shot down over Sicily. but lived to fly B-29's, B-36's,and B-47's.
Depending on exactly when the B-25 was filmed, I may have been at the controls. I can tell you it flies very well, its a bit squirrelly on the ground, is incredibly noisy on takeoff but OK cruising, and was worth every penny.
I have flown on the B-17 and B-24. They are both beasts, shaking at takeoff. 909 is spectacular as the navigators hatch is open; think 150 MPH convertible with a view.
If you ever can, take a flight to help support Collings.
these things are jacked w/ 50 cals! its almost hard to believe they needed fighter supprt... o wait no its not, the german pilots were really manuverabal.. my bad =P
I was driving down the 580 freeway near the 680 when I saw these guys flying overhead. I nearly crashed because I was awestrcuk by the planes. There is nothing like seeing a B24 flying a few hundred feet overhead. Its a hard feeling to describe.
i like the B-25 because it's just really cool. but, the B-24 ia one of my favorite because it has a neat sound to it. B-17's have like no cool sound. at least ''Nine 0 Nine'' or ''Yankee Lady'' don't

The Liberator was always my favorite, then the B-25, and B-17 came after.
