  • Why does Amtrak always have to put an engine with a steamer. It's the same route the engine or same type of engine traveled by it self 50 years ago. They do it with BNSF 3751 too. UP's worse though. They put two SD70ACes and every now and then, and SD90 with 844. Thank goodness the City of Portland owns 4449 so UP can't put a diesel with it! Five stars though. Sorry for rambling.

  • It is so they have power in the coaches and cars...if you know what I mean, and I think it might have to do with setting of the crossing gates...
