with her smart financial desisions she will soon be out of a house, out of a car, living in a small apt and riding the public transit. Some people base entirely their self esteam on personal belongings. Just because you had a bmw or drive a mercedes it dont make you . successfull in life
@reymatt76 Have you ever owned a BMW? I got mine certified pre-owned and it is by far the best car I've ever owned. It is reliable, very comfortable to drive and sporty/responsive. Some people own BMW/Mercedes for materialistic reasons... others own them because they are quality vehicles that also look good ;-)
@jayci68 Nope I have never owned one. Funny how a BMW is "pre-owned" and every other car is "used." One of my friends has a BMW. Yeah it drives great. But twice in my life while sitting at a light I've had a drunk driver cream me and total my car. On top of that, living in a city, people bump you in parking spaces, parking lots, even sometimes minor incidents on the roads. I don't see a point in becoming attached to something that could be gone in one second.
@HaphazardMedia012 Yes, she's a greedy, materialistic narcissist who cares more about the image she's projecting than reality. She probably comes from rough trade and is trying to conform.
@eldubya2010 -- It is never a good financial decision to add to the debt of your home, unless you're trying to increase the value of that property. To risk the security of your home, for a flashy car, is extreme stupidity. It's this core of screwed up decisions, that lead to the housing collapse in the first place. Don't you people ever learn? You don't f*** with the security of your home for something that -- in a few years will have no value -- no matter what the interest rates are.
@AdLaura I agree 1000%. A fancy car is not a necessity, and no reason to put your home at risk. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Simple. That kind of thinking is what got the US into the trouble they're in today.
she had to "work with" 33k and stay in that price range for a car. WOW I will never have 33k to spend on a car. She should maybe spend that on something else, in my opinion NO ONE needs a 33k car!
@xPinkStrifex What if you have a kid with no legs and his school is far away so no busses can pick him up and you need a custom built car so he has holes istead of a seat to put his stubs in and that costs 33k?
though for the most part I agree that home equity loans should only be used to increase the value of the home, that might not apply here. She might have used the home equit loan because the interest rate is lower than if she got a car loan. She could have using her home equity to save some money. Not that this is something I would have done.
What you are Witnessing is real, the participtants are not actors, they are actual litigants with real cases, they will settle their disputes here in Judge Marilyn Milan's forum, The Peoples Court.
I've always wondered: Does that music actually play in the courtroom as the plaintiff/defendant walk in? It's pretty obvious that they can hear the announcer in the room, but the music is a bit harder to tell.
@resqfireman --- Definitely NOT if it's being spent on something that depreciates in value as quickly as a vehicle does. If you're taking equity from your home to do renovations to increase it's value, that's one thing. To spend it foolishly is quite another. And taking equity from your home to buy a $33,000 vehicle is a fool's decision.
@AdLaura At one time people did belief that their homes worth would keep rising so that the loan + interest would be less then the value it would rise in said time.
So a $33.000 home loan to pay for a car! The Car won't lose that much value that quick, yes it takes a big hit at the start but they make good cars. Mercedes and BMW make high quality cars that retain some good value. Not Equal value no!
He threw away the contract? What a guy! What an Off Case!
@AdLaura Agreed. This is a classic case of a middle class person living far beyond her means. This lady clearly can't afford a BMW or Mercedes. Pathetic.
If your financing a car and the dealer bank offers you 7% on the loan but you can get a home equity loan at 4% fixed term then that's the only way you can think about doing it. The problem is if you lose your job and can't make this equity payment you lose your house. But hey at least you get to keep the car. :)
@qbert80 -- Well I hope she's very comfortable in her car. People who make foolish financial decisions like this are one of the reasons that the States is in the financial disaster that it is.
dont blame the shitty financial state of america and ultimately the world on normal american citizens, blame it on the greedy cooperate and government officials O_O
