I have two of these cameras, and for non-professional use they are great. Made in Japan, high end, high built camera. The W300 is the best model, Ive compared them all. The W290 is below this camera in standards, but still good. However don't buy the newer models such as W350 or anything past the W300. Higher pixels, but the quality of the camera is poor. The later models are made in USA with cheaper parts, it lacks the eye viewfinder, and I feel the pictures arent as grainy with the W300.

@galaxyoverdrive Its not 1080p HD. It can take VGA videos (however they look great). The camera can output in 1080p with a breakout cable attached to the USB cable.

i think w270 is better corice than the w290. w290 is the same as the w270, but the w290 has a 3'' screen and the w270 with 2.7'' screen, same darn thing but w270 is just cheeper for the same quality!

It can record in HD resolution and will be recognizable in YouTube as an HD video, but that doesn't mean that is REAL HD quality.

I have the kodak zi6 and it's pretty good quality but it has split up settings meaning that if you go right on the d-pad then it can go to HD or a camera which it's pretty cool but the camera uses only 2 megapixles, way less that this camera but the zi6 is basically supposed to be a camcorder but kodak put in extra features. YOU SHOULD DO A REVIEW ON IT!

cool, sony makes nice looking cameras but doesnt match up to Canons and FujiFilms Picture Quality. I like sony too but went with a fujifilm. But i guess in your case u wanted the HD feature for uploading HD video on youtube. Great Choice. PEACE.Nice unboxing.
