Facts are facts. The germans sent all of their best men into russian, they sent the majority of the axis armys. The west never fought anything on that scale. People are sick of americas hollywood version of warfare where John Wayne wipes out the Wehrmacht single handed. Look at the casualtie lists from the east look at how many fascists where killed. Facts are facts. The germans sent all of their best men into russian, they sent the majority of the axis armys. The west never fought anything on that scale. People are sick of americas hollywood version of warfare where John Wayne wipes out the Wehrmacht single handed. Look at the casualtie lists from the east look at how many fascists where killed. Same as the first world war. Your lot sent some supplys and some planes but the majority of the fighting and the 95% of the decisive battles were done in the east. And at wars end the countries "liberated" by Russia were then occupied and had Russian puppet governments installed for the next 45 years. For those countries the world WAS "a darker place".

Rus: The Winter War could of weakened Hitlers determination to commence Operation Barbarosa if the USSR would't received such great cassualties during the invasion of Finland and had it's troops better equiped. If the Red Army could of at least be half as equiped as the Wermach, the number of Soviet troops would of finish the war before it started and if the Stuvka would not order their troops not to hold fire, Hitler wouldn't advance even a few feet into Soviet territory.

By the way, American textbook suggest that the crucial turning point in the war was the battle of Stalingrad. sovietworkers, you are entitled to your opinon but it is not particularly rational. Russia lost a great number of brave men (and women) in the war but a lot of it had to do with complete disregard for human life by Stalin and his generals and due to lack of equipment in 1941-42. As RamMangnum mentioned, US was also fighting Japan. If not for the US, russia and not germany could've been fighting on two fronts. Why is it necessary to bash other countries in order to feel proud about Russia?
