  • 64gb ssd $1000?! Right now an iPad 64gb is "just" 699,-

  • that dudes sooooo freakin nerdy english dude do u speak it??? wat the hell is he on about??

  • just buy a macbook or pro

  • Acer SUCKS BALLS

    long live the MAC PRO

    FTW

  • shut up acer doesnt suck

  • The Macbook AIr Is Nothing Really, Its Better To Buy A Macbook Pro

  • ya ur right if ur gonna buy one get a MacBook or MacBook Pro cause the air is to thin to even cope with any tasks

  • my macbook air broke when i first dropped it

  • i really want 1 but i just dont think its worth it cus 1st non replaceable battery and hella expensive

  • the smallest vaio laptop is almost the same size but the macbook air is much beter in anyway

  • Dude thnx to ur video i bought my own macbook air U ROCK!

  • Wait only 1 usb port? My $450 Acer Aspire one is more functional than that POS.

  • get a desktop!

  • desktops are dieing :( RIP

  • You can get better specs for cheaper, though....

  • i want one. Because theyre so small, you could like, put it in a envelope and put it in a backpack, and it weighs like the same as an envelope....its so cool...i want one..or a macbook

  • i want your mom because she's so small, you could like, put her in an envelope and put her in a backpack, and the bitch weighs like the same as an envelope, shes so sexy, i want her......or your grandma.

  • you pay more for the shrinkage

  • want a free macbook air? send me a message asking me how

  • The Macbook Air gets a lot of bad press, but remember you can ONLY compare it to similar laptops on the market. So in other words, it's only comparable to laptops with a 13.3" screen etc. When compared to the laptops that it SHOULD be compared with, then the Macbook Air destroys the competition.

  • The Ideapad u110 is better, and Lenovo gives you a USB drive too!

  • You know how they say "instant on the minute u open it" well thats a lie. look at :19 and see how long it takes the screen to come on. I still want one though, but right now i have a dell inspiron 1525

  • yeah true, lol well if u think that is a piece of shit laptop, then let me hear ur opinion on this, I have a Dell Inspiron B130 which is as we all know an out of date model, w/ 256 MB ram some AMD Athalon Processor....and it is the slowest thing

  • Patrick Stump. <3

  • You don't need a friggin express card for this thing. It's already got insanely fast internet.

  • 1 USB drive... for almost 2 grand???? and no optical either... what a SCAM.

    Oh, it's really CUTE though!!!!

  • LOL. No Optical Drive, 1 USB port, non-removable battery and no ethernet and it costs about the equivalent of a nice Dell XPS/Inspiron gaming laptop with 4X the power. Moveover Macbook Air! Of course it's smaller it doesn't have much inside of it. I must admit it would be a nice laptop though. If it didn't cost the PRICE of a gaming laptop I "would" buy it.

  • Bit of an unfair comparison, considering the Air is an ultra portable device and XPS is not. It's like comparing an Inspiron to a Mac Pro.

  • ok then well lets compair the macbook air with the asus eepc

    *eepc is about 1200dollars cheaper

*the eepc has an potical drive

*but still with all umpcs there are some drawbacks (only 12gb hard disk, tiny screen etc... but heck! its only 500 bucks)

and dont get me wrong. im apple all the way i own a powerbook g4. but i mean sometimes, like everyone does steve makes mistakes... and releasing the air for 1700$ with no optical drive and oly 1 usb port.....for shame

  • but the eee pc's specs are considerable lower. plus the screen is really small. look at all the other ultraportables there are with the same sized screen and size as the Air and you'll see they cost around $3000. plus, they have like 1.0 GHz processors.

  • Inspiron to a mac pro is a fair comparison. My inspiron 1520 is almsost as powerful as a top of the line macbook pro. My only concession is that I chose a low end cpu. 1.5 ghz core2duo. But it has 4GB ram and Nvidia 8600M GT and a 160GB hard disk(Only available at the time) and runs vista perfectly. For that price a simliar Macbook pro even today would cost $3000+!

  • Uh no. The baseline Penryn Macbook Pros have 2.4GHz Core2Duo processors, 2GB RAM, 200GB HD, 8600M GT 256MB VRAM, and LED screens for $1999. And these models are going to get updated sometime in June and get even better specs for the same price.

  • ho wmutch was the inspiron??

  • I'm a Univ student, I''ve had a normal macbook for more than a year now. I use it about 12 hours a day, almost everyday, and let me tell you. In this year I've only used my dvd drive twice. All the music I buy buy it on itunes, and all the software and movies that I've needed I've downloaded over the net. So, I can definitely see that in a very near future discs are gonna be quite obsolete. A lot of people like me just don't use the much anymore.

  • ok, how would you install anything without a cd drive? downloading programs is the biggest pain in the ass, it takes two hours to download a few megs, and then you still have the install time, and with cd's you also have a hard copy incase you by mistake uninstall or delete something, i seriously doubt the cd we be obsolete, only way is by another kind of disk or cartridge.

  • LOL, man, I have to ask, what's the speed of your wireless connection? as I said, I buy movies and software online, and I've never had to spend hours for that, just a few mins.I think cd's are starting to be obsolete cuz a lot of people rely on keeping their files in more space friendly devices, like external hard drives, or even on servers on the net. My advice to you, get better internet connection, and get a computer that doesn't take hours to install software, i.e. a MAC!

  • i have very good dsl, i don't know how your is downloading so fast, but still most people's computers don't download and install that fast, no matter how good ur mac is the large majority of people still use and depend on disc media, again why i say this format won't becom obsolete for awhile. it may be "obsolete" for you but for most others is still main way of getting and installing programs, and such.

  • don't u know it comes with a program called remote disc that lets u put a cd in another mac or pc and lets u send the contents of the cd to the macbook air and im sure it cant be that slow and u must have real slow internet or something cuz it shouldnt take that long to download a couple of megs unless ur using a wireless g router like me

  • uh der, but that still completely kills the ultra portability, cuz their won't allways be another comp. around

  • but why would u need to install anything on the go i mean seriously

  • You only use your CD drive to install stuff?

What if you're on a business trip or traveling and decide to pick up a music CD or a movie DVD to kill some time?

  • why would u buy a cd who buys cds these days and as for dvds why would u want a dvd if its way cheaper to buy 1 online or just copy them to ur HDD

  • plus, if you really cared about ultraportability and battery life, you would have ripped those DVD's to the hard drive at home.

  • Those are both really stupid comments, sorry. Clearly you've never been traveling.

  • oh i'm sorry what is travelling then? why are my comments stupid? instead of just stating something, please explain, so we can see your point of view

  • u can get it over the internet

    or the remote disk thingie

  • whats the point of putting a mini DVI port in it if its spose to be "Ultra Portable"

  • macbook air = worst laptop ever, i mean seriously my $dollar acer outperforms that piece of junk, they only have 1.6 ghz cpu, 60gb, whicch isn't that bad for that size, and no cd drive, which kills the whole "super" portability

  • it is for buisness people. Tehy do not need cd drives and stuff

  • All I see is a gimmick. I can see people now. "Oh my God it's so thin. It's the new hot computer. I've got to buy it." Consumers just don't think. There are way better computers for the same price with much more features.

  • yeah hijack someone elses dvd drive, but you can not use the drive to install parallel or windows, so what good is it? and no ethernet???how can you not have ethernet?

  • true who gives, pc's couldn't hold a candle to mac

  • true who gives, pc's couldn't hold a candle to mac

  • you guys know that microsoft if gonna counter that with somthing bigger and better in about 3 months right?

  • You sound like a pimp!!!!!

  • um. ok.

    (not me)

  • It will coast you 4000.00 too much

Get a PC laptop. you get

    - better battery

    - More USB ports

    - A mouse connection

    - 4 gig ram

    - 500 gig HD

    - Really good Graphics card

    - a duel core or even Quad core

All for about the same price even cheaper.

  • Yeah but a PC runs vista and thats operating system guatanamo.

  • uh the air is about 1800

  • thats my boy dan.

  • One problem with remote disk, What if you need to do a completely new fresh install of OSX? Can you boot from remote disk?

  • Yes. You can. It'll take a while though.

  • Seems counter intuitive, unless remte disk is a part of the rom seeing how the computer needs to be turned off then on and then saerch for a disk to boot from somewhere on a wireless network (one that has access permission no less).

  • I guess for those complaining, if you're spending this much on a notebook, you're willing to buy an adapter. I was considering one for college, but might stick with a macbook for the fact that the air is just too pricy, though it does look nice, and seems very portable.

  • not needed computer but.. for what it is it is not that bad a price.

  • lmao i love this guys persona

    so enthusiastic

  • (((((:

    h3333lLoo0, 1'|\/| fR0m ceeeee-NET DOT coooom...

  • great review!

  • i agree, this guy gives great reviews (: quick and simple

  • this mac book will be such a waste of money, just stick with a regular, and get better performance out of it.

  • macbook pro costs just as much and double the performance.

  • what the hell happened to Moore's Law? No ethernet port, one USB port, and a built in battery?! what the hell Apple?!

  • actually there is a usb to ethernet adapter i think

  • its still a bit of a hassel. the last laptop mac w/o a built in ethernet port was the pre-powerbook 500 series. im just saying, having a built in ethernet port is a necessity for some, and having to buy an adaptor makes things just too much of a hassel. besides, for the same price as the macbook air, i can get a brand new black macbook with a hard drive and ram upgrade.

  • Yes, the usb to ethernet is sold separately... of course

  • well u=if u shave off that much u should be happy with wat u get and there is always wifi

  • i want one of those but i dont have the money

  • I didn't know Riley had such long hair

  • No optical drive? Jobs has finally gone insane. This product is obviously geared to certain class of people...

  • Don't know if you remember but he WAS the first to put an end to the floppy drive. I could see this coming, since people use MP3 players now and have thumb drives and SD cards for storing stuff - I have a feeling that before long (probably within the next decade if not sooner) the only way to get software will be to download it from the manufacturer's website and pay for it via credit or debit.

  • Very insightful comment.

  • You still don't see any new, mainstream ways to, say, install an OS though. I still think the optical drive is going to be around a while longer. Apple is jumping the gun with this Mac, which makes it quite useless in my opinion.

  • this is probably the worst review i ever heard

  • cnet videos aren't full reviews, they're just a sneak preview of the product, the review is usually pure text.

  • the guy is a talking to fast

  • He's not really talking too fast....he does sound funny though, kinda like a 60's sports broadcaster

  • I don't think this will work as well as Apple is hoping for. Only one USB port, no Ethernet, BUILT IN BATTERY?!, and it has those OH-SO-RELIABLE iPod Hard drive (unless you get the SSD). Is it just me, or does this kinda remind me of the PowerMac G4 Cube? Advanced for its time, but still flopped. I think I'll stick to my PowerBook G3 (yes, i still use a G3).

  • good :)

  • wow this hasn't even been up here for a day and it already has 229 views

  • nice
