the HD equipment won't change the colours. The Rihanna video, like most pop videos or movies will have a post-process treatment done to it. Look at a lot of big movies or even big budget HBO shows most of them have something done. Transformers is probably an example of a very heavy post-process treatment.

Need to look at doing something in a package like Adobe After Effects or Final Cut to make your videos look more punchy.
