  • I am glad to hear of good ending with rehoming older birds that the bird

and new owner are both happy =)

These amazons live a very long life under good care and its important

when their original owner can't care for them due to illness/age then they

go to another good loving home as yours.

Actually 18 years old is just teenager year considering they can live as

    long as 70 years old!

  • i love your bird he is beautiful ^_^ i want to get one

  • mine has black/grey beak... is this because it is 7yrs old?????

  • No, your bird is probably a blue front amazon.

  • it's probably bred with some other amazon species (mut) or has some disorder, most double yellow heads have the off white colored peaks..... Sorry not most, but all. Mine is 14 years old and still has the same colored beak as always

  • He's so precious! There's a Yellow-Headed Amazon at my job (a Pet Store). She's our mascot! She's so beautiful and wonderful. (see my video haha) Amazing how smart they are huh? I want to get one myself. How much was he? Just trying to see what kind of cost I am looking at.

  • Do you still have Mo?

  • What a little doll! I have an ADOPTED 18 yr old DYA who was left alone for what we were told was a week or something like that. He is domestically bred. With us, Wasabi is treated like the wonderful, spirited boy he is. I am certain you treat Mo the same way! goldelks2102, do your research into Amazons if you have not already. Double Yellows can be very determined little critters and they can easily dominate a person with a soft demeanor.

  • would it be possible to put a double yellow headed amazon together with a rose crested cockatoo in the same cage. The cage of course is spacecious, and they would each have their seperate food bowls. I would love to properly train them to free fly outside.?

  • hey my amazon gets along well with my lovebird, they scratch eachother too

  • Can a Double Yellow Headed Amazon be compatible with a green cheek conure????

  • honestly, the ONLY likely chance of that is if they grew up together from a very young age. I have BOTH and they HATE each other. Green cheeks think they are much bigger than they are and although my Amazon is frightened up my green cheek (LOL), he is capable of killing my green cheek. He actually defended himself one day when Romeo (my GCC) flew over to his cage and sprained his wing. He was lucky that was the extent of the injury. I would not recommend even trying it.

  • yes they can, mine gets along well with my conure, look at my vid

  • It is wonderful that you rescued this baby. All my birds are rescues, including my DYH. I love birds, but didnt want to buy one. They are in shelters and rescue more and more over the last few years. Thank for saving his life.

  • awwe! adroable. love amazons. love the eyes dialate when they are happy. and..he looks like a happy boy. im so glad that he had/has a good home..sorry to hear bout his owner. glad to hear that he found you. responcable bird owners i can tell.

  • i have one his name is petrie... i love him to death.. i remeber when i was like 8 i kep say pretty bird over and over agian and thats all he said for 3 whole years HA!

till one day when my mother forgot to shut his cage and the window and in the middle of a storm i came home and he was in the top of a tree screaming "help me mommy" lol

  • Jenn....it is Jenn from the perch right? ...anyway....ignore that stupid asshole. he is stupid stupid stupid as hell. and his attempt at speaking english is appalling. he should at least use an online translator

  • FYI, I adopted Mo from a woman who got him from a BREEDER, 19 years ago. He's captive bred & raised. I did not rip him or any other bird out of the wild as and I never EVER would. As a matter of fact, I work with wild parrot conservation groups and am involved in trying to stiffen the laws on illegal poaching and exportation globally. What the hell are you doing about the problem besides sitting on your ass throwing out accusations to people you don't even know?

  • Further, please get your facts straight before you make comments like that. I understand the frustration with the impending doom and plight these beautiful creatures face in the wild but I am one of the few humans in the world that is stepping in and getting involved to try to make the world a better place for them.

  • Did you know that the human species is the only living species ACTIVELY working to cause their own (and every other living species) extinction? So, until you live a lifestyle to prevent pollution, global warming or deforestation, you have no room to preach to me about helping anything become extinct.

  • That is a ridiculous accusation! Why don't your get off your rear end and do something about the dwindling populations instead of ridiculing people who have done a lot more good than you even know to help these amazing birds. Do some reseach and point your finger in the right direction.

  • please do your part and stay the hell in mexico

  • @Yimorabeji it was actually your people that helped them with extinction because they took them and sold them. So don't say any thing bad about her

  • My blue front is watching him intently, seems to quite like Mo!

  • thanx...he's pretty green with a nice yellow patch on his head, hes really friendly and fun, once again thanx

  • is he a magna or a regular DYH, i have a regular one, who is just 11 weeks old, i wonder if he will look like yours in 18 years.

  • he is just a regular. magnas have yellow down their necks and into their bellies... also a lot more yellow on the wings. yes, yours will definitley get more yellow as he matures, he's likely mostly green at this point, yes? males are sometimes more yellow headed than females. don't worry, his beautiful yellow head will develope over time.

  • He's a beauty.....my DYH is 18 also and has almost identical yellow feathering on her head, like Mo. They are wonderful birds, and it looks like he's doing just fine.

  • He's adorable! You obviously love him very much. He is a lucky bird!

  • what a good boy

  • He's beautiful. I have a female 18 year old DYH; I think she'd love Mo! Keep up the good work.

  • That woman must have been heart broken...at least she can rest easy knowing that you obviously love him to pieces! Its so sad when birds outlive their owners, at least WE can understand why they suddenly went away but all the bird knows is that he or she isn't at home anymore. I'm glad to see that Mo has adjusted well, he seems more than happy :) What a handsome boy...

  • Isn't he a handsome guy. It is great he is adjusting so well to a new home.

  • i love double yellow headed amazon i want one so bad!!!

    cute bird =)
