  • Gary sounds a bit like Bloomfield on this one. Fantastic playing.

  • man, i miss you gary.thank you for the vast collection of music you left behind. R.I.P. brother.

  • seen peter green play this never got to see gary play it what a talent

  • "Need some leps ???? to feel next to mine"

  • Super!!

    Grandma mary

  • Takes my breath away!

  • fantas.......he makes the guitar SINGS !!!!!!!!!

  • a masterful rendition of a song made famous by the master...

  • RIP Gary, you really honoured this wonderful song with your feel and tasteful playing, not too over the top and great singing too. Thank you.

  • Simply spine tingling!

    m,any thanks!

  • i'm fourteen & i actually adore this song, I know good music you see! ;P

  • Jeg vidste jeg skulle være blevet ved, ved musikken, for jeg kan følge rytmen med min fod 1-2-3-4... Gary Moore, 1 of a kind. Annemette C M, en ener...

  • This song is one of the reasons it will be very hard for me to die...

  • How can people say Peter Green plays with more feeling, this is one of the great versions of this song, and as much as i like Peter Green as a guitarist, he wasnt in the same league as Gary and he will tell you that himself. WHY do you think he gave him his guitar. Pre insaness, before anyone says it.

  • @MrSmallyp Then you're certainly no guitarist. Gary Moore IS & now sadly was a legend of that there's no doubt. I'm still fed up about his passing. It's true he was always in the shadow of someone & like Danny Kirwan didn't deserve that. With Gary it was either Eric Bell or Peter Green. Peter brought something to the table which is difficult to explain, I think it's his subtle run offs. No matter, I like both interpretations & feel privileged to have heard either of them.

  • How can people say Peter Green plays with more feeling, this is one of the great versions of this song, and as much as i like Peter Green as a guitarist, he wasnt in the same league as Gary and he will tell you that himself.

  • @MrSmallyp Peter is one of the most humble men you could ever meet.

Comparing him to Gary is pointless. They are (were) both incredible.

  • Look at that girl's expression at 3:40 ! Pure passion with making this beautiful piece of music.

    Enjoy the perfomance.

  • Alot of people bang on about Knopfler being the greatest guitarist, bollocks, this is pure genius. Didn't he play this on Greenys' guitar?

  • @hueytheshooter Think you are right on this one Know he was given one of his guitars years ago.

  • No man could`nt play it better. I know that out there over the world there will be some never known guitar players who can play this almost the same. But being known and a great star is a gift. This is what Gary aproves. He`s the one and only....

  • If only one "bird" sang in the forest ... all would be quiet. Let us appreciate the wonderful variety people...

    Gary Holt

  • so many great guitarists past and present, all fantastic. what makes green n#1, he can sing really really well, better than the any. the best guitarist would be green singing and jimi playing lol

  • CAN i GET A WITNESS?

  • I really don't know why in every blues video I've seen I'm forced to read the non-meaning words: Beaver, Gaga, Lady, Justin. Everybody's talking about something we all know from the beggining... Blues is better than any commercial music that can ever be created.

  • Great post! Like an Angel to take the pain away!

Who is Justin Beaver? any relation to Wally Cleaver?

  • This is number only to listen by this terrafic guitar player!!

  • What amp is he playing through?

  • where was this recorded and what year?...great version!

  • How I loved this musician......so very very soulful.

  • I'm speechless. So much talent and feeling. Thanks GM.

  • Actually, this song was written by Little Willie John's brother Mertis. Gary's version is wonderful. Peter Green's rendition of this song is also fantastic. The great thing about music is that different interpretations of a song can all be enjoyed as their own creation.

  • Yes, Gary is/was a great player and singer; but he did not quite have Peter´s impeccable sensitivity, or he would have realized that to have your solo verses go on too long takes away from the overall dynamism of the song. With Peter, everything was just right...

  • Little Willie John wrote the song

  • Simply beautiful!!! super performance

    Grandma mary Mary

  • Truly one of the all-time great blues tunes written by Little Willie John, not Peter Green, and beautifully performed by the amazing Gary Moore.

    RIP

  • my dad's name. :)

  • wow

  • That up/down/up/down bend @ 5.32 just exploded my head !!miss ya mate luckily saw ya 2 times live, once with Greg Lake and one time with your band Both times blew me away. Had a mate who picked up your Strat @ 1 show and told me how high you had tha action set maybe to keep ya fingers strong lol cause i dont think i ever saw ya play slide , All i can say is hope ya rockin heaven peace forever brother x

  • Garys playing the Peter Green 59 Les Paul he got from him when Greenie decided to back away from music for a while . Last year value was around 1 milliion US now with Gary Moore gone who knows. I always liked the story that when transporting the guitar from UK to USA there was NO WAY it was going in the cargo hold so guitar had its own 1st class seat . A true piece of Rock history

  • well played gary moore ,,, class

  • I love you so very much...please come back...please....

  • To me this will always be a "Greenie" classic (even though he didn't write it) but I can't think of many others could have done this song more justice than Gary Moore. I feel selfish mourning his passing because I'm sure he's in a better place now.

  • @GeoGuitarPlayer Couldn't agree more! How many more kids are going to come out of the woodwork to 'mourn' the man after he's gone? I hate these scene-kids with guitars! They don't know shit!

  • @GeoGuitarPlayer That's telling him mr guitarplayer! You're spot-on! Too many spooty kids whose folks can afford a guitar for them think they know about passion and feeling just because they bend a string here and there and it's nice 'n loud though their amp which their folks also paid for. LOL.

Kid, take a tip from me and put up or shut up! ROFL!

  • @GeoGuitarPlayer "feeling" - "bluesy" - "more quickly" - "superior" = pretty vague and also extremely subjective phrases. It's also opinion, to say it's inferior is pretty brainless.. it's art after all .. not lap times or goals scored in a certain time. It's not an 'attempt'.. it's a great tribute from a passion bluesman. I can't believe the agrestic rhetoric that's used to describe music, it's almost as if it's a competition or a contest, or a popularity pageant. It's art and expression.

  • @sportsportsport He never said any of that stuff. You said that.

  • @FSofty Go away.

  • Y'know'.....whoever owns that guitar now, maybe shouldn't play it?? Its kinda time for that ole' Les Paul, to disappear along with Robert Johnson's Gibson, just to keep the legends alive?? Some guitars will only have one (or in this case two) masters,...think of SRV's #1, Rory Gallaghers strat, Albert Collins Tele, Lucille, Danny Gattons Tele, etc...etc....

  • What sensitive playing! I'd love that kind of backing to have a go myself. These players are our teachers. That's how I've learnt:: through the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Pete Townsend, Steve Howe, to name but a few. Sadly missed will be Garry Moore.

  • Beautiful performance!!! Thanks for sharing:)

    Grandma Mary

  • this is just awesome and i know many agree.....makes the commercial c**** we are subjected to daily seem so sooooooo a million miles away from proper music! peter green is a legend, gary moore too......thanks gents, awesome ; ]

  • Ladies and gentlemen, this is how you play and sing the blues!!

  • You rock Gary Moore! May you R.I.P.

And I hope the '59 Les Paul that Gary was playing has found its way back to its original owner, Peter Green.

  • Gary you were fantastic at High Voltage festival when we saw you last year.

It just seems such a shame they wouldn't let you do just a couple more when the crowd were all shouting for it and you were obviously up for it. Time constraints with other artists due on I suppose, but in hindsight it's very sad.

You'll definately live on in a lot of peoples hearts and with the music you leave with us.

    Rest in peace Gary.

  • No,peter was the master, but Gary became the Master of the Masters ,and Peter knew

Gary was his Friend,no need to compare.

Gary moore and Duane Allman are the best guitar Players i have heard in my short life.

  • + extraordinary...sublime...irrepetible..please LORD give GARY back !!!

  • From my town, and my heart,i am so sad,

    God bless ya Gary Moore.

  • make a man happy gary once more

    very nice profoom

  • What happened to the ideal which made the original so great? Less is Green. More is Moore.2 stars. 1 for playing it, 1 for it being too long and overplayed.

  • Need you back Gary..so bad

  • This video is guitar perfection if there's such a thing.

  • Not many people get this song right. I think Gary Moore nailed it!

  • One of Gary's definitive performances...

This was such an emotional performance, including the orchestra (who were brought in only to play on this track)...

Gary does indeed play Peter Green's prized 1959 Les Paul guitar, that Peter sold to him years before...

Gary was at the top of his game when this was filmed (1995), and remained so, really, until his untimely passing on 2/6/11...

    Stunning vocal, fabulous guitar...

    WOW !

  • Rip Mr. Moore

  • I can't believe he's gone. His playing meant so much to me...

  • Lol peter and gary were good friends, stop comparing you dicks.

  • R.I.P gary! you were a legend!!

  • You know what, I've listened to it again and fuck the begrudgers: this is a great performance. You can hear Peter Green in GM's playing without it being a mere pastiche. He's playing like himself but paying tribute to Green's use of silence and space. It's a genuine tribute, and you don't get many of them.

  • It sounds like he's playing Peter Green's guitar. I like this performance, but I'll miss him mainly for being a blistering hard rock guitar player. I gather that his last meal was a burger, champagne and brandy. That's class. RIP, Mr. Moore.

  • This guy was a top guitarist he was drafted into Thin Lizzy when he was 16 he won't be replaced. guitarists like this don't come along very often.

  • People who say Peter Green's version is 'better' and uses that word does not understand the concept of music or the concept of an artist paying tribute to another's. Peter Green didn't write it, and there is no 'better'. That's pure idiocy and lack of thought.

  • @sportsportsport Very well said !!!!

  • @sportsportsport I agree with your comments. This tribute has great passion and in my opinion is better than Peter Green's version. The song itself is a wonderful standard blues classic.!

  • @aristotle358 And there speaks an expert on pasionate playing! HAH!

  • @sportsportsport

So by your logic, Hendrix was equal to Tom Delonge in terms of their art? Let me tell you right now, I love Blink-182 and 90s alt pop, but the fact is,the music of Hendrix IS better. Does that mean I am never going to listen to Blink simply because Hendrix was more talented and a better songwriter? No, because like you said, better is irrelevant when it comes to music, but in saying that, it doesn't make them equal.Greeny was 10 times the guitarist Moore was.

    FACT.

  • @Carthsgtr Your comment is beyond retarded.

  • @sportsportsport

Suck a fat one you negro piece of shit.

  • @Carthsgtr You're being racist and you like Jimi Hendrix? More brainless unworthy comments. Please kill yourself.

  • @sportsportsport

    Fucking Chink

  • @Carthsgtr

Thats some good old fashion family rascism right there lol

  • RIP, Gary.

  • Niiiiiiice !

  • Comment removed

  • What the hell happened to his accent!!!???!?

  • there is nothing wrong with playing your heroes songs.especially when you do it as great as gary did.

  • @mikebloomfirld66 Peter Green liked & respected Gary's playing so much he gave him his Les Paul, but we get all these YouTube asshole experts teaching us who's better after they learned the Smoke on the Water lick, poorly. So much humor in it, and all of it unintentional :))

  • @gormarx

    Spot on!

So many ****wits criticising fabulous musicians but coming from a position of knowing NOTHING!

Maybe one day they will learn that just because they prefer a certain version or performer that is not at all the same thing as it being "better."

But that requires some understanding and maturity; that is sadly lacking in so many.

Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai , Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison all taken too young.

Drink and drugs killed most of them. Wasted!

  • @Velton500 steve vai aint dead...is he?????

  • @stardust260872

    No!

    My mistake!

    Durrr :-(

  • Gary Moore is feeling! =) Love it

  • The very best R@B Artist on the planet, EVER! I would never get tired of his soulful voice and his remarkable talent as a musician. Second to NONE Gary! Thanks PM

  • Sviranje pesama od Peter Green za Gary Moore je isto sto kada bi ja svirao pesme od Gary...

  • NOBODY should sing Georgia but RAY CHARLES, and that goes for Greenie's version of NEED YOUR LOVE SO BAD. Nobody plays ,sings' or phrases like Peter! OH WELL!

  • nice peter green tone

  • Yeah! Gary Moore is great, but nobody plays with as much feeling as Peter Green

  • original is always the better version... but gary moore is great!

  • Greeny was a gifted singer. This is crap. Can't stand it.

  • one of the best blues guitar players ever!!!

  • Gary plays all the right notes, even in the right order, but please, even with one of the best guitars ever made, he still manages to get a crap tone! All he needed was the Fender amp, the reverb switch, and a lead. Switch off the Tubescreamer, Gazza, please, you're better than this!

  • Simply beautiful!!! Love it.

    Grandma mary

  • Gary is simply the best. He reminds me of Paul Butterfield.

  • A MONSTER musician covered by a fellow MONSTER musician.

What else can you ask for...

  • Peter Green's version is way better than this one for me.

  • @ivur8623 Agreed. GM is one hell of a great bluesman, but PG's version (with Fleetwood Mac) is simply beyond comparison.

  • @ivur8623 I agree.....better to do it in a completely different way...than to try to keep is so close to Peter G's...

  • @ivur8623 aaaaand???

  • @ivur8623 I don't know. Gary's version is certainly a little different than Greeny's, but I think they're both lovely.

  • Awesome track for sexy time.

  • Great song, love the original - must be great to play with an orchestra behind you - a great player, you can't argue with that - sometimes he goes over the top - but in his best moments they are truely magical, a legend

  • THIS GUY MOOR HAS NO FEELIN , NO SOUL, PLUS HE NEEDS T LOOSE SOME WEIGHT. MAYBE A FEW YEARS ON SKID ROW WILL GIVE HIM THE TOUCH BACK. CAINT PLAY DA BLUES WHEN YA GOT LOTS A BUCKS IN YER BACK POCKET ..NO WAT AM SAYIN LIKE ....??¡

  • love love freakin love it

  • he ought t quit eatin so much bacon ---kinda sloby!

  • please check out my version of this classic.

I was lucky enough to meet the legend that is Peter Green recently and played it to him and he said he loved what i had done!!! What better compliment could i ask for. What a completely lovely man he was as well.

  • The best I've heard Gary play.
