They included the 3 sec defensive rule the season AFTER MJ RETIRED. they couldnt do it when mj was in the league because he would average 50+ pts and simply become unstoppable, even though he already was unstoppable without the rule..

After he retired NBA wanted to keep the level of atractiveness by cleaning the painted area (defensive 3 second violation) so the players could approach the basket easier (like Jordan did but without that rule) and score more points...

If LA won in 90, Portland 91, Golden State 92, Phoenix 93, New York 94, Orlando 95, Chicago 96, Utah 97, Indiana 98, Miami 99, then all those superstar names would be known today and people would recognize that the 90's were the PEAK of the NBA, no contest. Also, so many exciting and close 4th qtr games due to a low scoring defensive era. You can blame Phil, Tex, Scottie and Michael for dominating. These guys need their own Hall of Fame, like the 60's Celtics!

@jbeachboy I've said the exact same thing. To me, it doesn't matter what Kobe does from here on out. First of all, he's not putting up the kind of numbers MJ did. Secondly, he has two of the best big men in the game and a talented supporting cast. MJ didn't play with slouches, but his dominance of the game during his era was amazing to watch.

They included the 3 sec defensive rule the season AFTER MJ RETIRED. they couldnt do it when mj was in the league because he would average 50+ pts and simply become unstoppable, even though he already was unstoppable without the rule..

Come on, today's basketball is not even close to the time when MJ played... MJ had to face much tougher defences and yet he scored so much points... After he retired NBA wanted to keep the level of atractiveness by cleaning the painted area (defensive 3 second violation) so the players could approach the basket easier (like Jordan did but without that rule) and score more points...
That's just one of the reasons why is MJ so great... Greatest of all time. Period. :)
