I do not know this piece by heart from the music (I can't play it) but maybe he hits all the notes correctly despite theatrics. Somebody should be able to tell. If he does, more power to him (wrong idea).
so I'd like to see you play in his place, we'll laugh so much! you are so stupid, you should continue to listen to the crap and let the classical music!
. Neill is a musician who works for hours, it has merit, not like you Wasteful your time talking nonsense. if one day I see you in the street. I will beat you all!
This is exhibitionism at its rawest and crudest. What's absolutely frightening is that there are people - mostly ignorant - who think he's the greatest. There are no words to express this absolute travesty of Liszt.
Vergognati buffone! Ma è questo il modo di suonare??? Anzi nel tuo caso di distruggere il pianoforte. Sei senza ritegno. Spero che dopo questa turpe messa in scena non ti farai mai più veder sfregiare simili capolavori.
Holy Guacamole. That was some rude piano playing. I feel sorry for the poor guy in the lower left corner who had to witness this for four minutes at point blank range.
Always pertinent remarks. But I disagree in what concerns getting a reaction: don't you think he deserves it more than those mainstream media puppets, pre-pubescent looking and lame playing competition champions?
What he does is a particularly rare and inspiring, although painful, act of an onsight creation that we are privileged to be witnessing.
I think it's a good thing to have your ideas challenged.
I've had my fair share of cruel criticisms and I think it actually had the curious effect of actually making me more prepared to do the things i was criticised for.
I agree. It took me a minute to get into this interpretation. But wasn't Liszt said to be a theatrical at the piano. To the point where people in those times insenuated (out of ignorance) that he was was demon possessed. So this performance is good.
What the hell at :18-20??? That poor poor piano. LOL! I don't really know what to say. It has been said that the only two pianos that could withstand Liszt style of playing were a Bosendorfer and a Bechstein. But for some reason I still don't think a piano was meant to be struck with an aerial assault. LOL
This is absolutely brilliant! If only more performers had the courage to wrestle with the true spirit of Liszt. Where is Ken Russell when you need him?

Kind of a showoff.
And not in the good Lisztian way.
At least Liszt could be humble.
I dont care about the technique or the sound, you did that to get a reaction.
And that had nothing to do with the music.
The fact that it's by Liszt just made it more convenient.
dogbreath19 2 years ago

TheFilantrop7 2 years ago
It's very true that some incredibly talented musicians get far less attention than they deserve.
But I don't think the solution is to sink to anyones level.
Does one become a musician purely for attention?
Had he cut his hand when he brought his fist down would he have claimed to be suffering for his art?
What is the main attraction here, the music or the man?
dogbreath19 2 years ago
Is there a definite way of sorting this issue out?
A fair number of otherwise accomplished thinkers have failed to reach anything even close to the conclusion so far.
TheFilantrop7 2 years ago
Certainly, I think people should do what they want and find their own truths.
Just don't blame anyone for having an adverse reaction to it.
It's the price of swimming against the current, you'll probably collide with other swimmers.
But DO blame people who criticize purely in an effort to be cruel.
Cruelty is never constructive.
It's personal.
