Megaupload was shut down by the Department of Justice on copyright infringement claims, not by the Department of Defense on terrorism claims. They've done the same thing to many other sites for years. SOPA isn't going to be a law, I promise. It's already 'postponed' and is destined to expire in the house before going to Senate.

SOPA and PIPA are written by lobbyists and are in fact pushed by special interests.
The government is too ignorant about the internet (specifically Congress), to actually bring up another government conspiracy theory.

@fillepus No they weren't. A public website being temporarily down because the servers are overloaded by thousands of /b/tards conducting a DDoS attack is not 'hacking.' All it did was tell them there are a bunch of people mad about it. Its actually kind of a pointless thing to do to a government website. They probably couldn't really care less if it goes down for a couple hours. Its not like they're losing customers who can't buy shit or look at ads while the site is down.
