@paladindarknite The flashing star doors are the ones that end the levels, the regular doors just lead to the next area in a level.

I remember getting this new for my NES when I was around 11 - To me, the best game for that system was a tie - Between Kirby, and Mario 3 - Ah, brings back memories!

Could be playing on Wii's Virtual Console - the graphcs are slightly upgraded.

No, the NES version looks a WHOLE lot different than this. Although it could be... But the graphics don't look BETTER, I mean they do, but the graphics are DIFFERENT. In a better way.

No, the graphics are better in this. This one has better color. I have the Wii VC version, and I beleive that's the NES version.

Good question. Yeah this truly the NES version, I captured using a Pinnacle Dazzle composite -> usb device. Not sure why the graphics look so good, but I have a theory. Kirby's Adventure was one of the late generation NES games, and it pushed the graphics capabilities of the NES. In order to achieve this, the graphics flicker, alternating with every other frame (I even saw this stepping through my capture). My guess it that the video compression smoothed it out to look 'cleaner'.

this game was alot harder than it looked!! like when you find a good ability like the flaming kirby or the UFO some stupid enemy does something totally random and hits you and the stupid little star fades before you can eat it again!

Kirby's Adventure is one of those NES games that never really got the credit it deserved. I think a lot of people were thrown off by how childish it looked (and this is back in the day when 99% of all the games being made looked like they were designed for 5 year olds). But the joke's on them: Kirby's Adventure is one of the best platformers on the NES, a system that's already stacked to the hilt with great platformers.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my best world one time to date is 4:36, but it has been about a year since I ran that game. I really need to get at it again. If you want to chat about strategies, look up my e-mail from my Kirby's Adventure FAQ at GameFAQs or IGN.

As a fellow speed runner, I will pass along some advice... in 1-4, right before the Hyper Candy, inhale the Needle enemy. Use it on Wispy Woods instead and you can save a few second right there (as opposed to re-entering the level).

My goal was actually to maintain fireball power (in the video I lost it). Though fireball power is pretty slow to kill wispy woods, it makes up time in the later levels in world 2, in the whole grand scheme of things.

That was very good. That was even faster, then a Vegtable Valley speedrun I saw a while ago. Kirby's Adventure is a very nice game, but to get 100% sounds very challengeing. I mean, some of the switches, like the first one in Orange Ocean, aren't that easy to activate.
