At least you didn't think you had to do sudo. I mean, as long as your root, who has to do sudo. If you had other partitions on the computer and they weren't mounted they would still work.

this will remove any files that rm can find. Making this from init prevents removing the files in /proc, wich results in more errors than necessary, thus slowing down the process
You can go with the shred command too. Just watch out for the /dev directory because these special files may point to other partitions such as WindowsXP files installed on /dev/sda1...
This is just stupid. You probably can kill any system if you use a command to delete all files with superuser/root/admin rights. Any except if started from a live CD! Ha, ha.

reboot to GRUB, 'e' on a Linux entry, add "init=/bin/bash" and change "ro" for "rw".
Press 'enter' then 'b'. Type "rm -rfv /"
^^

what does that will do?

Agreed, it was stupid. If you read the description, that's why I did it. Oh well, just a typical YouTube commenter, I guess.

What's a typical YouTube commenter, I wonder. I deny to be so. ;-)
But you caught me, I overlooked the description. Now if that may be typical...

fine!
that was the first step to move into Debian!
juanddperez 4 years ago
what did you do?
zimbloggy 5 years ago
First command: "Goodbye cruel world."
Second command: "rm -rf /"
I don't recommend doing this on a system you intend to continue using.
