What exactly is going on at 1:21, with the boy apparently singing (?) in front of a poster until the man wearing the ad banner walks up and speaks to him? I can't understand the lyrics that the female chorus is singing at that moment, but I assume it's something to do with the odd visuals.

Neon lights, thats what really gives it that look of yesterday. As someone previously stated ,it looks like Tokyo. Neon gives off a differant glow on buildings and streets. And if NYC buildings all switched back to neon today , we would probably have what we see in this video today , the same look. I just really miss all the neon lights , even in small towns.

There are now virtually no 'Broadway theaters' on Broadway, save for three. Virtually all the movie houses are gone too.

Most of these could have been restored - & used as mixed venue houses, like the former Studio 54 is. This includes those theaters (some quite splendid buildings) which were porn houses for years.

The scam redevelopment was a vast transfer of assets, enriching the rich - & shoving the poor out of the area & out of NYC.

1.The destruction of grand theaters began under Guiliani? Do you have any idea how many grand theaters went up and came down in Times Square before Rudy was even born?

2.The working class and poor were driven out in the sixties and seventies under Lindsey and Koch, long before Guiliani arrived.

3.NY's economy soared under Rudy and crime plummeted.

4. You can't have it both ways, you are either for progress or your not. If the economy sucks, then your beloved theaters sit empty,that simple.

So many theaters were destroyed, thanks to the Guiliani greed era. Almost half that were in the 50s are gone now:( And have been replaced by a fast food/corporate/Disneyiana nightmare!

Guiliani was just a self-serving lump of greed (for power), who let Times Square be destroyed to make it a corporate theme park.

There were SO many theaters (movie & legitimate stage) that are now GONE, along with privately owned bars, restaurants, stores, etc. - all worth keeping!

There is NO real theater left - all silly/badly staged musicals that woudl make Zeigfeld vomit!

And dramatic plays are history now......

But - all movies to the contrary - Times Square was always somewhat sleazy:) There was a seamy side going back nearly a century.

You are a bozo, 19lfm12. Guiliani's so called "greed" era did not destroy those theaters. The mafia destroyed those theaters by making them porno theaters starting in the sixties. They also ran the drug and prostitution trade in the area. In the 70's and 80's child prostitution was rampant. Under Guiliani, Times Square attracted tourists and businesses attracted workers. A tax base was created and money flowed into the public coffers decreasing welfare dependancy by half. YOU ARE A FOOL !!!!

2. 'the mafia' works in mega-corporations & wear clerical collars. They simply decided to change tactics & sources of revenue via massive self-serving real estate deals

3. the working class & poor were pushed out of the city, including the homeless. So naturally, charity to the destitute was reduced:)
