Reminds of those small fighting robot competitions in Japan without the missiles and bullets flying around. Now makes me want to get a Metal Gear Rex toy. Too bad it's tainted with bad memories. To be fair Ray and Rex were designed for two different purposes. Rex was designed to be well protected. Ray was designed for mobility and to be mass produced. I would say that the Ray Liquid has is probably superior because it was designed with care instead of the ones Raiden fought, that were created in drones. The Rays Raiden also fought were computer controlled. The one Snake fought was controlled by Liquid, whom was a incredible pilot.

I would say so, yet at the same time there were designs for the first metal gear, the shagohod was the preffered weapon at the time. I'd still count it as one though, even though it doesn't walk like a true metal gear.

@KarlWilliamKraft Well, it TECHNICALLY has legs, but it relies on its Augers more. In the first part of it going through Groznyj Grad chasing Snake, it relys on the Augers being used as legs. I'm unsure if it can still count as a bipedal nuclear weapon, but you're right though, it's not a true metal gear.

It's also the fact the missile launcher is held on top of a rear module, as well as other equipment, and the main part of the Shagohod drags it along, so again, not a true metal gear.

Well technically the original Metal Gear appeared in Portable Ops (a quadruped model), the first "true" Metal Gear (embodiment of Granin's vision, a bipedal nuclear armed tank) first appeared in the original Metal Gear.

A Metal Gear progenitor, the Shagohod appeared in Snake Eater because the technology just wasn't there in 64.
